Still trying to keep temps under control.... been hovering @ 84 for the past few days. I want to be @ 77. The radiant heat coming off these bare bulbs is intense. Even with good exhaust, I cant knock out the radiant heat. I'm really close to going w/ cool tubes... I could be running 3k lights w/ cool tubes, instead of 3k w/ 2k lights and 1k A/C.

Is it true that MH bulbs burn cooler than HPS? Ive never used em', but considering them for the last month, if I stay bare bulb, and they do indeed run cooler.

Moved the A/C outside the room, wanted to see if it made a difference, with the heat, and I really don't like it exhausting the room air. I think it was a little cooler w/ the A/C in the room.

Overall things are looking good @ Day 18 12/12...

Nothin wrong with low to mid 80`s lights on temps as long as lights off temps are kept within 10 degree variables and humidity is dialed high till end of stretch....and actually.....

Just like the only way CO2 supplemented rooms produce with high ambient temps and relative humidity , so do the rooms using major air exchange twice per minute using ambient CO2 in the air we breathe , and it`s not rocket science on what costs less for room dialage..........

Are the plants suffering ?.......up the air exchange and a/c dewd.....portable a/c`s suck dick like cooltubes.....and did I say.....

FUCK COOLTUBES.....and I mean no disrespect.....just dial your environment with the appropriate equipment.....

Good luck...DHF....:ying:.......

Do you think I would benefit from a active intake? If so, how much CFM, considering my outtake is around 650?

Plants are looking great for now, I have been able to keep the Rh high(70) for the entire stretch so far. I worry that I will need to pull the temps down towards the end of flower. As of now the only way I can do that is to dim the ballast. Thats why I ask if MH bulbs run cooler, if so I can use them the last few weeks maybe.

Thanks for the comments.

My friend DHF advocates exchanging room air 2x a minute... say take your cubic footage, and buy both an intake and an extraction fan to match. i.e. My rooms measure 8x8x7= 448cft. I have 2 440cfm fans pumping air through my pods...

My pods stay around 85F lights on, in the hottest months of summer right now, and with 2 pods running on opposite schedules, the heat generated from the pod w/ lights on keeps the pod w/ lights off warm, within the 10F range DHF mentioned. Heating you're grow during lights off might be the answer to maintain the ideal environment.

Iso - I know their is a lot of information coming at you right now from a lot of peeps, walk through it all slowly, you're getting the BEST advice to grow the BEST product. And I've been around growers here in N Cali for over 20 years and these guys really know their shit.

I could not afford to do everything they suggested at first and some I didn;t understand and was to embarresed to ask, now I just say FUCK IT..I want to grow the best so I ask the dumb questions. BUT....as you slowly incorporate what their teaching you, you WILL see a huge difference in quality AND quantity, I truly wish you the best.

Grow on bro!

There's no doubt about that! I have only seen the quality and quantity get better and better since discovering ICMAG....

Pretty simple really, supply line comes out of rez and runs through the entire top shelf, then runs through the bottom row and back into the rez. The highest blumat sits @ 2' and the rez sits @ 54". When I first put the clones in the room, I hand watered them to saturation, then plugged in a blumat and dialed to drip about once every 5-6 seconds. Now I top the rez every 24-36hr to maintain the proper water level for what I dialed in. Make sense?

Nice job.

Do you think this design would work for a four shelf room? top shelf is about 5 feet and bottom shelf is the floor.
I want to set up an automated watering system and blumats look great, but not sure how to really set it up.

Its doesn't really matter how many shelves you have 2 or 20, the thing about blumats is, you have to have the reservoir elevated above the highest blumat site. I have my rez something like 26" above my highest blumat site. If your highest shelf if 5' then your gonna need you res somewhere around 7'. If your in a basement, then I would recomend keeping your rez on the first floor, in a closet or something, and have the plumbing go through the floor into the basement and through the blumats.... Thats the plan for my future set up anyway.

Blumats are the shit! Ill never grow with out em'!

Day 40

Day 40

Still battling the heat, its been really hot outside lately. Had a power outage, and the a/c didn't kick back on, so it was like 93 in there one night. I've been using DM Silica since day one of veg, I've read this helps the plant deal with heat stress... I've been struggling to keep the temp swing +-10 deg, It's been more like +-15. So the average day in there is 86(light on)-72(light off), with a bad day being 88(light on)-70(light off).

Things are looking great. This is going to be my best harvest. Not only is there an intense amount of bud in there, but my white rhino has never looked this good @ this point.:dance013:

Really nice looking wall ya have there. Is this your first run with the Blumats? Just wondering if you think your better results with the White Rhino might be due to the drippers. I am on my first Blumat run and definitely am seeing fatter buds.

sweet! fillin in super nice bro, hope i can do the same! the blumats rock although getting them dialed in has been a bit tricky thus far for me at least...all are too dry which is better than a flood but not ideal...gotta hit em by hand tonight and tinker with the blumats again after lights go out..sorry for babbling just diggin the setup bro!

This is my third run with this rhino pheno, each run has been getting better. I added the blumats on the second run, but didn't really have em dialed yet, I was letting em dry out too much. I think I got the blumats figured out this run though.

I have been feeding them alot different this time too. On my second run, I was using the Head 6/9 formula + DM Zone @ 1ml/gal.

Here is my nute formula this time: K.I.S.S. w/ supplements

Maxibloom @ 7grams/gal
Botanicare Cal-Mag @ 1ml/gal
Dutchmaster Gold Silica @ 2ml/gal
Dutchmaster Gold Zone @ 1ml/gal
H&G Drip Clean @ 1ml/gal
+ Atami Bloombastic(wks 5-7) @ .5ml/gal

It can definitely be a bitch getting the blumats dialed. The thing is, whenever you set a blumat, it only stays dialed if the water level in your rez stays the same. So you have to have some type of top off system going for the blumat to stay dialed. I just top mine off manually every 24-36 hrs, this seems to do the trick. Eventually though, I plan to have it automated. Not sure how I'm gonna do that yet...

Here is how I dial or (redial) my blumats:

1rst- Water the medium untill I start to see run off.( if you let the medium dry out, and you have to (re)dial the blumat, then just turn it all the way on, and let it flow untill you get a decent amount of run off.)

2nd- Push the blumat down into the saturated medium. All the way to the bottom of the green cap.

3rd- Tighten/Loosen the blumat until untill you get a drip every 4-5 seconds.

4th- Maintain the water level in your rez to what ever it is when you dialed in the blumat.

Hope that helps.

Oh yeah, I forgot ...

So a couple day ago, I go in the room right after lights on. I immediately noticed the top bulb was flickering. I try to troubleshoot the issue by first switching the top bulb with the bottom. As soon as I flipped the light back on I stared to hear an arcing sound coming from the same bulb that was flickering, it never actually fired up. So I turn em back off, and take out the bulb and here is what I see...

Any idea what could of caused this? The bulb and socket were less than 4 months old. Ushio 1000w Hilux Gro bulb. Lumatek Digi ballast
