Will the smell penetrate through mason jars?

The lids of mason jars should always be replaced, because after a while from being opened & closed repeatedly, they lose their seal strength.

if you could smell it the you might be leaving some sticky behind on the lid and jar.

Got it. Thanks guys.

I have an additional question that I can't find the answer to using search. Zip Lock Bags ..... After I harvest, I might need to use zip locks to quickly transport the weed from point A to B. If I have a duffle bag full of zip locks, will it reak if I have to walk past a few people or if I put it in the trunk of my car? Do you think I'll be safe if I can transport the weed within an hour?

mylar bags man, you can fit about 6 lbs in a single large one. most grow shops carry them these days.

I'm honestly convinced that with layering inside with other shit and taking precautions for cross contamination (think Mr.Nice when he describes the pakistanis sealing his product)
You could probably even pull off dog proof on these

Easiest way to Vacuum seal a mason jar
1. Get a pot of hot water (Not Boiling but hot)
2. Fill Jar with weed
3. Stick jar in pot and put on lid tight
4. Great Success

you can tell its sealed because the bubble on top gets sucked down.

Just get turkey cooking bags from the grocery store. Tie a good knot in them. Other thing you could probably do is twist the top up good, double that part over and crank down on an electrical cable tie across the folded over part. Will give you much better piece of mind than the Ziplocks.

Try soaking the lids in very hot water before you put them on...

The heat makes the rubber rim on the lid more pliable, and thus creates a better seal when tightened.

Foodsaver makes the following attachment for pulling a vacuum on wide-mouth canning jars. They also make one for regular jars, but they don't work as well for our needs. You just place the insert on the top of the jar, put the attachment over it, attach a vacuum hose to it and pull a vacuum. When you remove the attachment, the lid sucks down tight.

These are meant to be used with the vacuum port on the Seal-a-meal gadgets, but I use mine with a hand vacuum pump (a mighty vac) which doesn't need electricity. Pretty cool! $10 at Amazon.
