Reputation

If you click on "My IC" on upper left of screen it will show you any rep people have given you either by clicking the little scale icon on the left side of the post under the your avatar (which allows them to leave a text message as well as the rep), or they can hit the "Did you find this post helpful? Yes / No " which will show on My IC (User Control Panel) with only the text "Helpful Answer Postitive Rating"

Rep given using the "scale" is worth more "points" and again allows the person giving the rep the chance to leave a message, where the "helpful post yes/no" does not allow you to leave any message, but allows you to let the person know they agree with/like your post.

If the person has turned off the reputation function, they will have a dark blue dot instead of green or red dot. Honestly, I don't recall seeing the grey dots.

CoCo Crazy, it you will notice, you now have a "1 member found this post helpful" message at the end of you OP of this thread (from me).

If you now go to My IC (User Control Panel) you should see "Latest Reputation Recieved" and there will be the title of this thread, followed by the date and time the rep was given, who posted the rep and in this case "Helpful Answer Positive Rating".
(on the far left very first column you will see a green dot since it was a postive rep).

HTH.
I was under the impression that only rep given by the "scales" would show up under "my ic". When people uses the "yes/no" it doesn't seem to list them there.

I don't know everything about the rep system, but I knew when I saw this......

I was suprised to find I had Postive Rep here..Out in the world People like me just don't get much positive reinforcement..:artist:

Ther seems to be 'the rep game' a subtle undertone as it were.
For me? You make sense, seem to truly tryin to help someone,and I haven't spread to much. Click Click Boom U B +K'd

I have a question: Being that I disabled my rep. (not because it's low, only because I don't use rep.), when I rate a post will it give positive rep. to the member?

The only thing disabling your rep does is not show your green dots....you can still give and get rep

Good, b/c I still send it to those who've disabled it; even if they may not ever see them...Glad to hear there is at least a possibility that they do. :bigeye:

I've started using rep a lot more recently, as I try to participate a little more, (unfortunately for all of you! :yappy: lol.)

For me, it's a quick way to send a 'pat on the back' when someone has been extra nice and helpful;
Or to send some positive reinforcement, well wishes or encouragement to someone who needs it.

It's also the perfect way to participate in a topic without going all 'public' with your comments,
or want to share something personal with someone, but are reluctant to share with the entire board/universe...

It's kinda like sending a not completely secret-"secret admirer" message, lol...
I've received some incredibly kind rep messages, they really bring a smile to my face...
...I'd like to think that I might be able to do that for someone else, since I know how good it makes me feel! :eek::

Oh, and I never send "negative" rep, (at least never intentionally, I have done it by accident once or twice. :rolleyes:)
....There's just something that feels wrong about sending someone "negative karma"...
Even if I completely disagree with what was said, and I think you are acting like a total jerk, I'll still send it on the 'positive' side; and say my 'piece' that way...Thankfully, that doesn't happen often. (wait, is it "peace" or "piece"? :dunno:)

Lots of K+ to you all!! :ying:

Excellent points you have brought up natty!
Receiving and giving witty, heartfelt or funny Rep messages is if fine way to get the most enjoyment out of hanging out here. :)

I don't give negative rep either, nor do I hold grudges or judge folks opinions. If I happen to have a distaste for a post, or if a thread is derailed with lots of bickering over out of context remarks or off topic, I just move along.
I find life too short to cast stones. ;)

i just noticed yesterday that you get way more points from k+ given by highly reputable members than you do from newer members/ those with less rep points.

afaik:

50p= first dark green dot
100p= two dark green dots
200p= three dark green dots
300p= four dark green dots
400p= five dark green dots

500p= five dark green + your first bright green dot

how come 600p doesn't get you any dots?

i never knew about the roll over descriptions, but apparently "heady blunts is a name known to all."

am i a dork if that makes my day? :D

Sweet now I can ask my question!

What does it mean if it says, this user's posts have been rated good 9 out of 10 times? I assume it means 1 person gave me negative rep, but if so, why can't I see the negative rep on my IC?
