sadly there will be a post telling you how 'fucking stupid' you are and that all you provided was regurgitated liberal bs and that you have failed to show how pv panels a less costly than fossil fuel derived energy.

you responded to 1 of my questions i asked you regarding govt involvement but you didnt answer the direct question of WHICH public company , kohls / anheuser-bush / staples / whole foods, is GOVT run?

care to answer b/c you response to that question was the "city of san diego is the fucking govt". this is a more appropriate response to the link i provided in which i showed PROOF that current PV tech can compete TODAY.

also, explain how you can take that this topic is out of my league.

care to directly respond? or you could cower down and attack like you usually do.

show FACTS not OPINIONS

It was mentioned earlier the biggest issue regarding green energy is simply that there is a huge misconception that it is an All or Nothing situation. When in fact it is the exact opposite arguing over what is "best" is moot. Eventually the best tech will emerge but until that point it's simply a case of using what fits best to help chip away at the strain on conventional power resources.

Tidal Power: Currently nearing completion these generators are powered by the extreme forces of the tide. Completely independent of time of day and most weather these may prove to be extremely reliable for non land locked countries.

Wind Power: Limited by proximity restrictions wind is not as available to residential residences but in the right locations are tried and true producers of clean energy.

Solar Power: Although currently limited by efficiency, great advancements are being made with commercially available panels now pushing 30%. The major tech to watch is a new PAINT-ABLE Solar Collecting Coating soon you will be able to just coat entire buildings regardless of surface texture or orientation.

The long term savings already more then justify the initial expenditure this notion of inhibitory cost is archaic. We had the roof of our house solar paneled, currently we just sell the power we generate back to the grid and that offsets the cost of our usage by about 60%. In 2 years a second larger installment will be brought in along with self storage batteries, at this point we will cease drawing from the grid except for emergencies.

People can blame whoever they want but in the end it comes down to YOU. The tech is already available for individuals to obtain self sufficiency, you just have to do it.

If your waiting for a big sign and subsidies from the government telling you to convert, you'll be waiting a long long long time. To much money from established energy companies, and a over all lack of accountability to the health of the planet not to mention crooked officials.

General Motors. Chrysler Corp. These are government owned/run. I guess you didn't know that. Did you fucking miss that power grab by obama 2 years ago???

And "Yes", the city of San Diego is the fucking government. Taxing it's citizens and spending it's citizen's money on boondoggle projects. All the while the treehuggers cheer, forgetting or ignoring that the energy produced will be more expensive then other sources of energy. Making business in and around San Diego MORE expensive to operate resulting in more companies leaving the state of California in order to survive. Resulting in the dumbest among us to cry for "More Government Jobs". Phfffft.

There needs to be a balance between the environment and business. Currently, the pendulum has swung far to the left, resulting is insane rules, regulations and policies causing businesses to leave this once great state.
They ain't coming back until the "hippies" finally retire from Sacramento and citizens demand an opportunity to work for a living once again. Then things will change.

We have fresh water running out to sea in order to save a smelt that bad science claimed was in need of the fresh water more then mankind and we have Environmental Impact Studies being required, challenged and performed repeatedly just to develop a piece of ground I or someone else owns. Then I have to post signs everywhere on our ranches reminding people to drink water???? WTF. If this isn't too much government then what is?? If this isn't government run amok then what is??

Now, fresh off of his acquisition of GM & Chrysler, obama is putting conventional energy companies out of business, making all energy consumed in America more expensive.

And that is a good thing how again??

Sad though that there have probably been many innovations that would have created clean/free energy, all bought up or hidden by global oil interests.

watched "who killed the electric car" recently. Fucking disgusting the effect of greed on the human experience.

It's just not quite ready for prime time. so why is the government pushing it down our throats?

Why are you trying to push a point of view on others?

While nothing is perfect, I would think life expectancy trends, a solid indicator on whether or not things are better or worse.

Hey, an explicative free post! :jump: Here's IPS to pick up the slack.

Wow, you guys have lots to say. :biglaugh: IMO, you both deserve the hoosierdaddy award.

Ok, I'm out of here, this discussion has reached the point where everybody repeats his or hers opinions and if this doesn't work, insults are beeing thrown arround...

Time will tell what the future of energy is. I'll be with the solar thermic power plant guys. If I'm right, we'll sell a lot of them, once oil is too expensive :)

Solar energy exec looks to the future

Solar energy exec looks to the future

Tim Keating (Courtesy photo)

Tim Keating, the vice president of marketing at Skyline Solar — a company that offers lower prices for energy, citing that it can charge less than 10 cents per kilowatt hour — is a veteran of the technology startup world.

What kind of need is there for renewable energy? We see the opportunity for solar in general as superbright. The reason, of course, is because the span for electricity is huge and the supply of electricity is limited.

What is Skyline Solar’s ultimate goal? Converting from fossil fuels and other fuels to solar is the opportunity we’re about. And certainly for the time being, solar energy means daytime energy. But what’s happening is the cost of solar keeps coming down. So Skyline wants to help attack the cost problem.

Where do you see our world in 20 years? As long as the sun is shining, we can get more solar power. I see in the long term that solar will be 50 to 60 percent of our solar power. When we learn how to store electricity better, then it can be 100 percent of our power. But when is someday? It’s not 20 years. It’s probably like 50 years — which is not a very long time.

DB, you may be surprised by how fast we will get there. As someone before me once said "progress progresses itself progressively"

How fast did we get from having electricity to having electrified cities? It took a hole loads of time...
How fast did we get from flying a plane to flying to space? a bit faster...
How fast did we get from 1st IBMs to internet and pentium 1? pretty fast...
how about from pentium and a very rare thing such as internet to everyone having internet on their Ipads? was it like what... 12 years? 8?

what does GM or Chrysler have to do with my question. i mentioned Public Companies that didnt receive an bail-out money.

nice Side Step........care to answer my question directly. you do know what that means dont you? explain how the examples i listed are owned by the govt.

ive never said i support the bail-outs. i thought that in a Capitalist market it was Survival of The Fittest, not subsidize the weak.

dude, i agree with most of the second part of your post and just b/c my view differs from yours regarding PV Tech doesnt imply i support the Nanny State or federal govt intervention in my life.

now why do you call bs regarding the City of San Diego getting their electricity cost more stable by entering into an agreement with Sun Edison.

i offer PROOF but you still believe YOUR OPINION is proof enough.

show proof that Sun Edison's claims are false in that they do not lower or stablize prices.

if you have proof then you would have the basis to file a law suit againgt SE for defrauding the residents/tax payers of SD & California.

Grapeman, I have a few basic questions for you.....

What gives you the right to bankrupt an already fragile environment for future generations just so you can have cheap energy you can piss away on personal indulgences?

Since when are you entitled to shit on, deplete and exploit the only home our species has so you can have a big screen TV and all the rest?

How can you be so totally self centered, self indulgent, and arrogant to think that this is okdokey?

I hope you have some kinda real answers to my questions, cuz if you're just gonna call me names again and try to show yet another tree hugger his place yer just pissin' in the wind..................agin.
