Well here we go... Ive been conjuring up some ideas the past year and have come across the main component (fan motor) so now is the time that I will get this project underway...

I am starting this thread for motivation to help me get the project complete. I have been doing a lot of youtube research and have taken a lot of pictures to help give you guys an idea of what I am going to make.

There is a fellow icmagger I believe from germany who recently made a very nice homemade trimmer and he made a thread here on the mag but it was in a language that I do not understand.... his pictures told me everything I needed to know tho... the guy did a phenomenal job... i have it tagged and I will post a link..... here it is.....

here are some more pics that i snapped from youtube videos... there are a couple guys who posted up videos of their home made trimmers.... one guy used an old box fan, and another guy uses a drill and a wire attatchment that allows him to spin some sort of device in such a manner that it trims the bud... it is NOT the way i will be going, I just wanted to spark some ideas here....

the trimpro is a good invention, but not worth what they charge for it... hell NO would I NEVER pay that.... even if i did have hundreds of pounds... (on second though, i probably would, but why spend thousands on that when i can spend those same thousands on myself or my wife, or hell, even donating money to a local charity would be a better place for the extra money then in some greedy asshole inventors pocket :biglaugh:)

here is my main component.... these is the motor off of a high powered stand up rotating fan... the fan broke when i took the cage off of the fans and then the fan tipped over causing one of the fan fins to break off.... im thinking it happened for a reason... so i can build me a TRIMMER! I want EVERYONE to eventually make their own trimmer! this thread should blow up like the DIY EZ-Cloner thread by king ralph...

gonna make a trip to lowes tomorrow to see what else i can come up with for the rest of the components in this fan.....

does anyone here know how to search thru patent applications on the internet? If someone could find me the sketch of the trimpro patent which shows all of the components, THAT WOULD BE GREAT! im going to look myself, but hopefully someone else here can find it quicker then i ! thanks a lot my fellow icmagsters

the only picture above that is mine is the fan motor.... the other pictures are from youtube.... they are from other trimmers....

this is a thread that is more/less for my own personal use so that i can document my journey of making a home-made "fan-style" trimmer...

GMTA! I have seen all of those youtube videos myself that those images are taken from. I have been kicking around the idea of building something like this for a while now.

I'd be very interested in your progress!

I've read good read good things about the satellite trimmer. Maybe you find some usefull information for you LoneWolf. Good luck and much fun!

Here at Easy Trim we have addressed these issues on several levels. We designed a single drum unit with a variable speed motor and a unique inner drum liner that allows for a cleaner more controllable vortex and cut, as well as drastically reducing weight and noise. In addition, we have added a variable speed reversible rotor feature with silicone fingers that help to gently rotate the product as well as aiding in controlling the speed of the vortex. By combining the two concepts in a single unit we have not only greatly reduced the length of the trim cycle but more importantly have developed a product that causes negligible damage (in fact throughout our testing, side by side, it has held up against trimming by hand the vast majority of the time – and sometimes even better). Another way we have greatly reduced product damage is through the development of a single concentric disc/six blade cutting wheel and a coved grate. The coved grate creates a softer transition for the product, and in combination with the cutting wheel, improves speed, as well as reducing damage, noise, and loss. In short, “The Satellite” allows the vortex to slowly move the product while the silicone rotor fingers gently roll it over the coved grate, creating a faster trim time but significantly minimizing any damage or loss to the product. Moreover, by incorporating the ability to control the speeds of both the rotor and vortex/blade motors, and easily adjust the blade height for length of cut without ever disassembling the machine, Easy Trim's “The Satellite” allows the user to further fine-tune their trim, per the strain, quantity and closeness of cut they prefer and minimize downtime.

The satellite looks great, but the price is just ridiculous for what you actually get. If it was a grand or two it'd be amazing. But for 9,000, I'd rather build my own.

Well, basically everything targeted at/ marketed for MJ growers is overpriced, don't you agree Anti?
Not that i need a satellite trimmer for my small grow, but what rather bothers me is the MP3 player. Silly, unnecessary, unprofessionell, dumb gagdet.
