How long does a 20lb co2 tank usually last?

The room is 8x7x7 and is pretty sealed, has a controller that keeps it 1200-1500 when the lights are on. Went through a tank in like 11 days, is that normal?

My room is aabout the same size, maybe a little bit bigger. 1 bottle will last me about 2 weeks. Although i have noticed some bottles will last longer than others.

Your room isn't as sealed as you think :p. I used to have a 20lber in a 10x12x9 that used to last me 10 days. 8 at the end. Seal up!

Yea Im sure you are right, it could always be more sealed. I think the zipper door has something to do with it.

Make sure you compensate for added heat from the burners, or get a water cooled one. Hydrogen PRo is the one that i use. Works well. Either way if you're not on a natural gas line you're gonna be burning propane tanks anyways ;). Not as frequently though of course.

Yea Ive already been looking at water cooled burners. Could you use one without a chiller? I got a line not far from the room, I just would really stick with co2 tanks, but this is going to get cumbersome and expensive.

You can run a water cooled generator 3 ways:

1) Chiller. USe this chiller to create a closed loop inside your rez to chill the water. You only need about a 40gal rez for this method depending on chiller/generator specs.

2) Drain to waste. Plumb a water line directly into the generator, plumb the drain out to a drain, OR keep in a rezi and allow to cool down for your next feeding. (If you're room isn't hermetically sealed you're going to be using A LOT of water, then again, maybe not for your small room, the generators burn good).

3) Passive cooling. IF you have a large rez or standing body of water (300+ gallons), you can plumb the in/out from the generator directly to the same rez. The larger rez size allows for passive cooling of the water. Keep it in shade or in a cool room for extra efficiency.

OR, buy a bigger tank :). You can get them from most beverage distributors if you don't have a nearby shop.

Good luck!

i've seen a 20lb tank last for 2+ weeks, but also seen them go in 2-3 days in a crowded vert room.

depends how many plants and how big.

I dont think I can swing a water cooled burner at the moment. So maybe a bigger or more tanks.

Yea its a vert room.

The controller is a 'CoCo'. Basically non adjustable, will trigger when it gets below 1200 and turn off above 1500. But it usually turns on around 1300 and off around 1600. Wish I would have gotten an adjustable one. Ive heard that 1000 is reallly where you want to be anyway.
