Some of us keep our cars tuned, tires pumped and homes well insulated. Some of us tweak the thermostat to save a little money and excess energy. But there's not much we can do outside that.

Thanks for your contribution.:)

And if you REALLY want to analyze a joke that didn't need to be analyzed, you might conclude that the joke is on the companies that aren't doing ANYTHING at all.

It was supposed to be fucking funny you retard.

Edit: sorry, I didn't mean to call you a retard.

I lol'd.

As previous poster pointed out, it's all about too many people.
All these "finger in the dyke" solutions really amount to nothing as the world population continues to explode.
We will never begin to solve the problem until our leaders start talking about the cause.
And to those who say "fuck it, I won't be here then", well I feel sorry for you. It is our responsibility to try to do something for future generations, and not leave them a cesspool to live in.

Projected 9 billion humans by 2050. Looks like it's gonna get worse before it gets better.

If projected methane amounts are released, we're ferked. No solace that multiple, 6.5 billion-caliber problems could get us before that.

How many are screaming of humans ruining the planet while they sit at their PC with parts made by many different manufacturers around the world. In a nice air conditioned environment on their factory made furniture. With 4000 watts being used to grow mother nature. And all of their manufactured equipment. Humans are screwing up the planet but there are very few that are not to blame. If you are reading this you are as guilty as any other.

Thats not to mention peoples lives ruined from recent record weather events around the globe. Hasent the US got wildfires ...?

wildfires? Arizona's got fires. lots of 'em. but its all good man. nothing to do with drought or global warming. according to Republican Senator John McCain, illegal immigrants are to blame.

I make no value judgements, just acknowledging numbers.

I sure hope John has information the fires in question were accidental/careless or intentional. Otherwise he just looks like a dumb ass.

While some large corporations struggle to maintain/increase company profits and stock, they leave a wake of decimation and loss behind somewhere. Our planets natural environment is shrinking every day. IMO, there are many places to point the finger. While I do agree population issues are one of them, I don't believe it's the only thing. I blame human nature, over their numbers. Human beings were doing destructive things to our planet before we were this close to max capacity.

Our Apathy, lack of empathy, greed, selfishness, ego, conquest of power and domination are just a few off of the top of my head. It's digression to go any further down the list anyway, and isn't my point to note all the shortcomings of our species we're all aware of anyway. I feel it's the stupid shit we do, over the sheer numbers of us. However, when those two are combined, it's like a rocket to doom.

The same species that is freaking out over carbon emissions is the same species that cuts down fresh trees to make toilet paper. At this rate, by 2050 there will be no more trees left to produce oxygen or TP.

:)

Ok...so just because you (might) not be around when shit gets really terrible gives you the right to keep doing the things that will bring that about.....all because you want to have fun?

Read the second quote in my signature...it really says it all.

Makes me imagine the bedroom's on fire and we're just happy to be in the kitchen where the beer's cold.

Im afraid your very wrong.
The impact of CC is already costing us more at the checkout and more for house insurance. Thats not to mention peoples lives ruined from recent record weather events around the globe. Hasent the US got wildfires and flood probs atm, are you saying no-one is affected?

apathy is lethal

people who couldn't give a fuck about anyone but them selves are the anti-thesis of humanity and life on earth

That attitude is what makes it possible for companies to make a profit destroying our planet.

People keep telling themselves it wont effect their grandchildren because the illusion of caring about the world around them doesn't extend very far past their own children and grandchildren.

It's sad that that misguided short-sightedness will likely make all our grandchildren suffer greatly

Don't be complacent about this

So I take it all you guys drive hybrids, don't use 10x the electricity of your neighbors, have solar power, don't own boats, maintain a tiny carbon footprint, don't eat any fish that are quickly losing populations, have grey water irrigation systems, tankless water heater, etc etc along with donating money to green causes right?

Or are u all just bitching about it while being hypocritical at the same time?

If you really care that much about it u should get off the comp (and shut it off too) and go start helping the world become a cleaner place right?

I'm not complacent about it, I'm realistic about the fact that not enough people (and certainly not enough companies) care about it. The earth is doomed regardless. If I thought there was a good chance of us fixing it, I'd totally be on board.

I grew up in the woods and love nature. Now I live in one of the most polluted cities in US where dust forms inside the house every 4 days. I'd love for the world to get cleaner, but it isn't going to happen and I refuse to waste my time on this earth fighting for a losing cause. Call me selfish, I'm cool with that. I'll suffice with moving back to the woods where the air is still clean and the water is not polluted. And if when that happens I have the financial resources to make my property green friendly, I'm totally down.

Ah, the irony. A self-described selfish dude suggesting the rest of us tow the line because we're not already doing enough.:)

In a way, I agree with you. My little bit doesn't mean as much when others don't do their part. But I'm glad you'll be on board if and when we get our collective sh!t together.

Sorry 'bout the jib jab. What was meant as light hearted may have sounded judgmental.

Another bullshit thread. Too much CO2. Seas are rising. Ocean is dying.

All bullshit.

Just another bullshit way to curb human behavior by the elites of the world, while they buy islands, private jet to and fro and eat caviar by the bucket load.

But of course I cannot because it is bad..... very bad.

Bullshit.

well pls make your question more specific so i can answer, does he beleive in global warming or the subsidies companies get for being green?

me personally i dont beleive in the subsidies and i do beleive in people being carless polluters espeacially companies for the sake of revinue or taxes.

if ron is in office i beleive the offenders would be in plain sight and then we could address them insted of arguing REP vs DEM stances that media portray's.
