3D Body scan at mall.

I find myself lately unable to trust alot of things.

last night I saw a news report that jumped out at me. It was about how many women have a tough time finding their size inorder to get proper fitting clothes.

Yes I accepct that this news report is an advert for the company that makes it.

The lovely female reporter followed a set of sisters and a college student at the mall. They got scanned, got a print out of what size they would be in various brands of clothes.

They took the print out, selected some clothes and tried it on.
In the end the women were so please about what a great fit the clothes was.

The part that disturbed me was that for the sake of convinience, these women allowed a full body 3D scan of their body to be done which will be saved(regardless of what they claim) and shared with endless 3rd party entities.

These women would not give their social security number to a stranger, but they will allow a 3D scan of them to just exist out there for who knows who to access forever.

I am no Tech expert.
I don't know how "They" would use a 3D scan against a person, But I am sure "They" will find a way to utlize it some day.

We live in a world where data is gathered for data sake.

They haven't been installed at my local mall yet.
It would be interesting to find out if there are any discloures and fine print that has to be agreed too before the scanning can be done.

Every business want's a bigger market share. Most would agree.
Once the current backlash against TSA simmers down, I'm sure these machines will show up at airports next.

Imagine a few years from now when these machines are as common as an ATM machine.

"Just get yourself scanned at participating locations, for the chance to win a cameo role on "Glee"

You won't even have to come to LA, you will just be digitally added to the scene.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I believe 90 % of the time we do it to ourselves. The powers that be gleefully watch, as we gleefully construct our own prisons, one brick at a time.

Catch them carrying booze, bowls and adult toys in. And pens, paperclips, toilet paper and laptops out. And we can see how many government workers can afford boob jobs versus us little people.

the radioactivity could cause problems but i dont see having an anonymous scan of your body for fitting purposes causing any trouble to you.

companies might just be able to collect more data to find out what size the general population is.

Totally different thing-- That is a full body scan, using x-ray technology...but the 3d body scan uses lasers/infrared light, and I believe the ones used for sizing you for clothes, doesn't create an image, it just spits out the sizes--
