ahh, yes, that is why i self-medicate as well. although I usually just clam up and accidentally intimidate people by looking too serious.
Mandala is good, but I like to ride that edge between high/not high a little bit longer if possible. basically anything thai. I love thai. to bad it takes forever and a lot of room...

Where do you acquire your fish, if you don't mind me asking?

the atlantic ocean. what mad said.
lol, I know thats not even close to an option for most people, but in maine finding fish, or fishermen, is as easy as finding trees, or fishermen smoking trees, or pretty much any combination thereof.
good talking to ya fellas!

The Godfather of BIM, Gil Carandang, has a book that you might be interested in purchasing - Grow Your Own Beneficial Indigenous Microorganisms and Bionutrients In Natural Farming

Available in eBook format from Amazon for $9.99 - you have to use their free Kindle application to read it on your desktop, smartphone or iPad (and maybe other tablet products).

If you want to get a real overview of his work then this is the best money you can spend, IMHO

thanks, I've read that article about gil a million times here and in other forums, but I would love to learn more.

in all seriousness, the mackeral I'll probably have to catch myself, although they're a pretty cheap oily smelly fish (but thats the best for fert) and you can sometimes find them in the supermarket for probably 4-5 $ a pound. I got a bunch of crab though by just asking some fisherman for some bycatch (whats in the net/trap/line that they don't want). I thought i might have to wait a few days, but nope, he had it in the back of his truck. lol

speaking of crabs...anyone ever tried to extract chitosan? I'm not sure its entirely necessary, as I've crushed and fermented them anyway, but somewhere I was reading about using HCL and lye to isolate the chitosan...
here....
Extraction and Evaluation of Chitosan from Crab Exoskeleton as a Seed Fungicide and Plant Growth Enhancer

There's a locally produced crustacean meal mix (Dungeness Crab & Bay Shrimp) from the Oregon Coast that is widely used by organic farmers and gardeners in the PNW. It runs about $26.00 for 50 lbs.

I also add the meal to the worm bin - about 1/2 oz. per s.f. every week or so.

CC-
nice. I've recently seen a crab meal sold by neptune's harvest. looks like good stuff, but was more expensive than what you're talking about, although I can't accurately remember the price/weight.
I don't think I feed my worms enough...

on another note, I'm pretty sure my problem was P def. and I read that older leaves affected will not recover, so as long as it doesn't spread anymore I think I'm okay. I usually add a handful or two of bonemeal, but I dumped my whole bag into my outdoor bed per Tom Hills soil mix and haven't gotten around to getting more.

Thanks for all the response from the organics crowd, you've really inspired a lot of this!

Is the Burmese Kush from THSeeds??

Sounds like a great plan to get some mother plants going - It cuts a good few weeks of the veg time!!

Thx for the swift answer!!

a little update...

I finally came up with suitable drip trays for my set up. I just inverted some of the white plastic shelves I had extra, perfect! I got a replacement bulb too. Nothing special, ge lucalox. much brighter than the old one though.
Heres what the canopy looks like with the lights off.

And some shots of the white widow in the fifth+ week of flowering.

enjoy!

the plant up in post 16 needs an EWC slurry. your soil is out of balance.

thanks jay! they're all better now. worm castings and a touch of guano did the trick, and no more leaves were damaged.
I think they got a weak batch of soil, probably mostly promix, not enough compost or ewc.
have a good one.
