Tan/golden buds, sticky and covered in trichs

2. Visible Trichomes: 7
Rate the visible trichome content from 1-10 none-totally covered.
comment: good coverage, not super white

3. Use an X to indicate the colors that are present in the trichome
heads under magnification or list the percentages of each color for
a more precise report. Leave these fields blank if you do not have a powerful magnifier.

Clear: 10%
Cloudy: 90%
Amber: %
Dark: %
*********
Something like this. Sorry for my poor memory.

4. Mark with X the colors that are present in the buds or for a more
detailed color analysis rate presence on a scale 1-9 light-dark.

Brown: 2
Green: 3
Gold: 7
Blue:
Grey:
White: 1

Rate the bud density from 1-10 airy-dense. For samples that are
not in their natural state leave this field blank.
comment: Pretty dense, not noteworthy in this aspect

6. Use numbers 1-9 on descriptors that apply to the aroma of freshly broken bud where a one indicates a subtle presence and 9 indicates a pronounced presence. Delete the existing space when marking a

descriptor in order to maintain the columns in alignment.

7. Aroma: 8

Rate the aroma from 1-10 repulsive-delightful. Use freshly crumbled
bud for best results.
Comment: Pleasant, but I wouldn't rely on my nose.

8. Seed content: 0

Rate seed content from 0-10 none-fully seeded.

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION COMMENTS:
Beautiful nugs, great bag appeal. The stems were somewhat sticky at harvest. Seemed to lose smell intensity after a long cure(1-2 months)

============================== ====================
THE SMOKE TEST
============================== ====================

Address these questions while smoking.

1. Please use a clean instrument for the evaluation. Enter information
below that will identify the instrument as follows:

Water pipe (enter bong, hooka, bubbler etc): mostly my bubbler, also a large bong
Vaporizer (enter the brand name):
Pipe (size-type, ie medium-glass): medium bowl
Joint (enter brand of papers):
Other (specify):

2. Use numbers 1-9 on descriptors that apply to the taste where a one indicates a subtle presence and a

nine indicates a very pronounced presence. Delete the existing space when marking a descriptor in order

to maintain the columns in alignment.

Ammonia [ ] Earthy [ ] Licorice [ ]
Berry [ ] Floral [ ] Mango [ ] Pepper [ ]
Blueberry [ ] Fruit [ ] Meat [ ] Petroleum [ ]
Bubblegum [ ] Grape [ ] Melon [ ] Pine [ ]
Cedar [ ] Grapefruit[ ] Menthol [ ] Pineapple [ ]
Cherry [ ] Grass/Hay [ ] Mint [ ] Rotten [ ]
Chocolate [ ] Hash [ 7 ] Mold [ ] Skunk []
Citrus [ ] Iron/Rust [ ] Musk [ ] Spice [ 4 ]
Coconut [ ] Leather [ ] Nutmeg [?] Strawberry[ ]
Coffee [ ] Lemon [ ] Orange [ ] Vanilla [ ]

If appropriate return to this question after 5-10 minutes and mark
with X any unmarked descriptors for lingering aftertaste.

3. Taste: 6

Rate your impression of the taste from 1-10 unpleasant-delicious.

Comment: The taste did not stand out to me, although it would have to be intense to do that, my sense of taste is like my sense of smell. It was pleasant, definitely high grade, but faint I would say.

4. State of dryness: 5, maybe a 4 towards the end

Rate the dryness of the bud from 1-10 wet-dry where 5 is ideal.

5. smoke ability: no comment

Rate the smoke ability of the sample from 1-10 harsh-smooth.

Coment: On the smoother side, I don't have any memories of this

6. Smoke expansion: no comment

Rate how the smoke expands in the lungs from 1-10 stable-explodes.

1. __[1-3 hits / .2g max]__ Dosage

Enter the number of hits taken to reach desired effects.

2. __[?]__ Effect onset

Rate how quickly the effect hit from 1-10 immediate-major creeper.
Comment: probably average, maybe more immediate?

3. __[3]__ Sativa influence

Rate the sativa influence detected from 0-10 none-extreme. Sativa
influence is best described as a clear and energetic mental effect.

4. __[6]__ Indica influence

Rate the indica influence detected from 0-10 none-extreme. Indica
influence is best described as a sedative, lethargic or numbing
effect that affects the body.

5. __[8]__ Potency

Rate the potency of the sample from 0-10 none-devastating.
Certainly not devastating, although this was supposed to be a more balanced high, not some knock out stuff. It didn't take many hits to reach the desired effects, so I would say it is well above average.

6. __[3-4]__ Duration

Indicate the number of hours the effects lasted.

7. __[1]__ Tolerance build up

Rate how quickly tolerance builds from 0-10 none-rapid. Leave this
field blank if you have not used this sample repeatedly.
If I hadn't been smoking it recently, 1 hit would make me happy/chilled out, 2 for a really happy chill out. I did smoke this almost every day for weeks, at which point it was 2-3 hits for the same effect. It worked every time, the same high.

8. Usability

Rate on a scale of 1-9 where a one indicates the worst time of day
to consume this strain and a nine represents the ideal time of day.
Leave field(s) blank if you have not yet formed an opinion.

Morning - wake up []
Day - work []
Evening - relax [9]
Night - sleep [4?] I didn't really use it for sleep

9. __[9.5]__ Overall satisfaction

Rate your overall satisfaction from 1-10 poor-Holy Grail.
Comment: I will go into more detail later, but the Holy Grail for its purpose, imo.

10. __[7]__ Ability and conditions

Rate your overall ability to judge from 1-10 low-high. Consider
experience, strain familiarity, atmosphere, current tolerance and
most importantly the condition and preparation of the sample.
I have been smoking for about 5-6 years, and have had access to a decent number strains in the past few years. Not the level of some people on here, but I have experienced several different kushes, a couple diesels, and a respectable variety of others. I also sampled this strain a lot.

11.Judging from the sample alone do you personally consider this
strain a keeper for long term use?

Yes [X]
No []

comment: I will explain more later.

12.Rate the noticable effects on a scale of 1-9 mild-severe. Take
care to use the appropriate column for your response. Delete the
existing space when recording your entry to maintain the columns
in alignment. In all cases these casual observations should not
be construed as medical advice.

FINAL COMMENTS:

I really liked this strain. It is the perfect evening relaxation smoke. It provides the same effects everyday, without having to dramatically increase the dosage(ok, going from 1 to 2 hits is doubling, but it is still only 2 hits). It is a very happy, relaxing high. Really takes the edge off. I would recommend this to anyone who has a job. No paranoia or anxiety, and I am somewhat sensitive to these effects. I wouldn't describe it as the most social weed, but it is certainly fun to enjoy with your buddies. No 'hangover' the next day, which is good for those who work several days a week.

As far as medical effects, definitely good for anxiety, and depression. I don't really have severe depression, but I can lose interest in things I like. This will help keep me happy, and curious, but not cause burnout like some strains. I don't know as much about pain relief.
I did smoke out a group of friends who had been to a wedding the night before(varying alcohol hangovers), and we had to help move one of them out of their apartment. This was with my bong, which if I may say so myself is pretty memorable. We probably got one hit each, maybe two, but huge hits. The one with the severe hangover said that this was exactly what she needed.(Side note: in my experience a strain that was labeled afghooey was the perfect hangover cure) Another could not help saying how high he was for just one hit. This is an experienced group of smokers(not old hippies lol, but experienced). We proceeded to move all of the boxes, no couchlock or burnout here. Just a solid, happy, functional high.

edit: I do want to say that while this strain did not seem to cause couchlock, I was perfectly happy to chill and watch a movie. It is couch friendly, lol.

Pros
  • perfect high, perfect for after the day's work is done
  • great, balanced high (I thought the quality of high was worth mentioning again)
  • good yield
  • great bag appeal
  • pretty potent
  • reasonable flowing time(I wanna say 65 ish days???)
  • cheap seeds
  • almost no tolerance build up, even over several weeks
  • almost no next day burnout, even over several weeks

Cons
  • I lost the mother and will have to try again

Basically, if Mandala's description of the strain appeals to you, get a pack or two. It is very good, imo, and at 35 USD for 10 seeds, a huge bargain. If I had that mother, I would be keeping her for as long as I still smoke, no joke. It is the PERFECT after the day's work smoke. As I said before, the holy grail for this function(in my experience).
Some of you won't like it because it isn't overpowering/knock out, but if you are like me, you will appreciate it for its many pros.
I am sorry that I don't have photos, as none of the sadhu photos I have seen look like mine did, however, I would get this again no matter what it looked like.

I might edit this post, as I don't feel I gave justice to the quality of effects.

I'm pretty bummed that so far it's looking like all of my Sadhu are males. One of them is just absolutely beautiful, though, and I'm planning on using the pollen from it, so I'm pretty pleased about that part.

Thanks for the smoke report. That sounds very appealing to me, and is exactly what I was hoping for when I bought them.

Hopefully I'll get some girls on the next round :)

@b8man
Thanks! I haven't tried the Satori yet, but seeing as how you liked it, I am sure you would like the sadhu.

@mugenbao
Sorry to hear about your Sadhus. Maybe some of them will turn out female? I am glad to hear one of them is looking studly, that is at least a consolation. I am curious to see what it would do in some crosses. I am thinking something like sadhu x really potent indica, for a blissed out couch ride, or maybe sadhu x blueberry??

I've got one Sadhu that is distinctly different from the others, absolutely beautiful, with velvety sparkly leaves and the most awesome growth pattern and stem and under-leaf colors! I am desperately hoping it turns out to be female. I'll know soon enough, I suppose. I suspect it's a keeper either way, so I've already got a few cuts of it trying to root now.

One thing odd that I noticed with my Sadhu is that two of the five were trifoliate. Is that common with Sadhu?

Funny you should mention a sadhu x blueberry cross... I've got two Blue Satellite 2.2 ladies in there also, one of which appears to me to be leaning quite strongly towards the blueberry, and if the above-mentioned Sadhu is male, I'm definitely hitting it with some of that pollen! I've got another confirmed Sadhu male I'll use if that one's not male.

I really want to see what Sadhu is like, really looking forward to smoking some if I can. I imagine a Sadhu x BS2.2 wouldn't be too bad either, haha :)

Yeah one thing males contribute is structure, based on my understanding. That sounds pretty win-win, with the female outcome being a decent bit better.

I don't remember clearly, but I don't think mine had only three leaves. I was mostly worried about the soil and temperatures. The distinguishing characteristic I remember is that the flowers were a golden-tan hue, much more than any other I have come across.

Funny you should mention that. After I posted, I remembered those Blue Satellite 2.2 freebies I have. WOO-HOO:jump:, I thought to myself. I will probably be trying that at some point, as well. I hope you post a report if you do try that out, I am curious.

Yeah, its definitely on my to-grow list.

I will definitely be hitting some BS2.2 with Sadhu pollen, the question is which Sadhu :)

I don't know at this point whether I hope that remaining trifoliate Sadhu is male or female, to be honest. I strongly suspect it's male, though... I'd surely like to smoke some straight Sadhu, but I've never seen another plant with quite this collection of traits in one plant, so I'm pretty excited to see if I can pass any of those traits along.

If nothing else, I've learned that Sadhu is an extremely interesting strain to grow :)

Thank you for this smoke report. I've been thinking about going with Sadhu as my next Mandala strain... I'm wondering if it will actually do for me what I thought Satori was gonna do. Don't get me wrong, I love Satori, but it's such a hyperactive high, and a guy has to sleep from time to time...

from my experience triofolate seems to be fairly common with landrace & landrace hybrids.Man i have 3 sadhu seeds left 1 of my favorites strains ive grown in a long time definatley in my top 5 very good for pain. 1 pheno i had was a creeper & at times the stone/high was too intense the other pro is that they were so easy to grow. thanks for the report greenapples.

Nice report! I've got a pack of Sadhu lined up for my next grow as well. I love Satori too, but also have problems sleeping afterward.

Yeah, Sadhu is some good smoke, but it would be nice to have a good father as well. What a dilemma! I'd hope female.

I wouldn't describe this as hyperactive at all. I had no trouble sleeping with Sadhu. What were you looking for?

Sounds like you had an interesting pheno. Good to note that it can be good for pain. I will second that they were easy to grow. Pretty good yield as well.

Nice report! I've got a pack of Sadhu lined up for my next grow as well. I love Satori too, but also have problems sleeping afterward.
I don't think you will be disappointed. I slept fine afterwards.

You guys are really making me impatient to try the Satori, lol.

was buying from a grower for 2 years and sadhu was the best smoke from over 20 strains I tried. Other guy had some - real pot head guy - best skunk he'd ever had. good stuff!

I agree, Sadhu is the best indica smoke I had so far... It's just amazing, so calming and relaxing without heavy stone..
