I just read that the UFC will be streaming 5 prelim fights on YouTube including the Omigawa and Poirier bouts. This is a huge improvement over the Facebook streams and is just another great business choice by the company.
Dana White was full of big news today. In addition to the five round UFC main events from now on, he also had a little tidbit to offer regarding Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz. Because he will be taking on Georges St. Pierre for the UFC welterweight title at UFC 137, Diaz gave up his Strikeforce title. MMAWeekly has it:
According to UFC President Dana White, Nick Diaz is now a UFC fighter and has vacated his Strikeforce welterweight belt to get a shot at UFC champion Georges St-Pierre.
White stated that Diaz could go back to Strikeforce at some point in the future if he chose, but for now he is strictly a UFC fighter.
As for the Strikeforce welterweight belt, White said that two fighters from that organization will fight later this year to determine a new champion.
Diaz won the title with a first round stoppage of Marius Zaromskis at Strikeforce: Miami in January 2010. He successfully defended the title three times since then, defeating K.J. Noons, Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos, and most recently Paul Daley. While there is no word on who will contend for the newly vacant title, Daley and Tyron Woodley would be the logical favorites in a shallow Strikeforce welterweight division. Santos is scheduled to take on Tarec Saffiedine in late July, but no other meaningful welterweight fights are on the horizon for Strikeforce. This leaves Gilbert Melendez as the sole Cesar Gracie-trained champion in the organization.

Good news
that decision was total B/S!
VANCOUVER, British Columbia – The UFC's fighters will be getting even smaller.
UFC president Dana White today confirmed that the organization is moving forward on its plan to add a 125-pound flyweight division to its existing seven weight classes.
White said it could come "like, really soon," possibly by year's end.
White and other officials have hinted at the weight class over the past few years, first with the since-folded WEC and then with the UFC. Talk of the division really heated up in 2010, when the UFC adopted the WEC's featherweight (145-pound) and bantamweight (135-pound) divisions, but fizzled until recently.
While the organization already has been talking to flyweight fighters about contracts, White said it'll take time to truly build the division and crown a champion.
"We have to get out there; we have to create the division," he told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) at today's pre-UFC 131 press conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. "We bring the guys in, sign them and start putting on fights. You figure out who the best is, and you have a title fight."
In fact, while the executive traditionally shies away from tournaments, he said a grand-prix format could be used to determine the UFC's first-ever flyweight champion.
"Maybe," he said. "There's a lot of options we could do."
Currently, a host of Japanese organizations and the California-based Tachi Palace Fights have had a stronghold on the world's top 125-pounders. But with the UFC offering unrivaled paydays and exposure, many of those fighters certainly could be wooed to the octagon.
Additionally, some of the sport's top flyweights could come from the existing UFC roster. While they've discussed their satisfaction with fighting at bantamweight, smaller 135-pounders such as Joseph Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson could make for intriguing options for the new weight class.

Is anyone else really liking Story -vs- Marquardt this weekend? I seriously think it's one of the 10 best fights put on so far this year.
It does seem like Anderson -vs- GSP is a prospect that's slipping further and further away...
Tyson Griffin -vs- Manny Gamburyan better make the main card too. I'm curious to see how Tyson will transition to to featherweight. With a win on Saturday he'd find himself near the top of the division immediately with recent fellow dropper Kenny Florian.
