Hanging my lights like this... is this a bad thing?

Waaait, you come in here asking OBVIOUSLY flawed/dumb questions and get pissed when yer called on it?

theres 9001 things you could do to safety up that situation, but coming from a guy that draws on the walls still maybe the expectations are too high?...I still wouldnt hang it from the cord when a piece of shoestring, rope, wire, ziptie, cord, anything? secured to the ceiling hook and lamp base will give an even higher safety factor. I pretty sure the plants dont care if yer bulb is a few degrees outta plumb.

make sure you know the number to 911. :comfort:

"there are no stupid questions. there are however stupid people asking questions"

a quote from my sainted father.

but he also said to me and my brothers.

"your daddy jerked off in a flower pot and raised a blooming idiot"

Jesus what a thread!

TS just make sure the cables have to endure NO STRESS. It really is safer on the longer term ;).

I saw some pics of it being modified. Looks good :D

That's a pretty elegant setup, Greenmatter - the only thing I might do differently (because I've knocked things off of S-hooks before...)
is use a little carabiner style attachment in place of the S-hook, or something that can be closed around the bolt you're hanging it off of.

looks good to go.......fire that baby up :tiphat:

...keep a spray bottle handy if the bulb gets hot

Er else just place a wet towel around the fixture & bulb to try & prevent a possible fire . Then it should run 2 - 1000 watt bulbs with a splitter . Personally I wouldn't run more than 2 - 1000 waters with those light gage wires .

Good Luck & as Mountain Goat said , Fire that fecker up & get the Hot Dogs & Marshmallows ready ,,, :hotbounce:whee::peacock::smoky::greenstars::yoinks:
