I think it's called a trifoliate. Not uncommon, and nothing bad. Search the forums using 'trifoliate' for a keyword.

That mutation will likely go away. I had a male do that. After the second node, the tri part moved on to secondary growth and eventually tipped out. The stalk reverted to normal as soon as the mutation went secondary.

There was a "breeder" a few years ago that said he'd isolated the mutation and all his strains were tris. He suggested the mutation carried through to harvest, yielding a third more product on average. I can't remember if it was by the pack or by the seed but the price was $15k, lol.

Yep you bet. ! just germed 1 so far and got 1 trifoliate. Hopefully it doesnt mess with the yield or potency.

Yer thought it was...amazing how many of these are starting to show up...some1 mentioned enviroment but had 10 other seeds pop up normally

I've had them a few times and have always been males. They can't yield any better as you still have the same root mass and they alternate nodes upon maturity like any other plant.

Some people consider them good luck like a 4 leaf clover.

If the plants did yield more and were better performers then all cannabis would be 3 leaved now through natural selection.

MOST are males, but I had a female blueberry hybrid years back that was totally trifoliate from germination and I made some beans with it eventually using a nice Swt male. Did some basic testing with them in the past and many of the offspring were trifoliate as well just like mommy was. The bud sites did not alternate there were 3 per node and she made 1/3 more total seeds than the other similiar same age & same sized plants. Thanks for reminding me about these, they are getting old now! :canabis:

Here's my Trifoliates.

Here's my Trifoliates.

In 35 years of growing the herb I have seen maybe 15 trifoliates. All have been male. Until this year.

This year I planted five of my holes with some f2 Jack Herer plants. Two were trifoliates and both were girls.

Both plants threw three sets of branches from the main stem until about the 5 ft mark. Then they branch sequence changed to two and one.

Both plants are doing well. I should get a bit more product off these two because there are more branches.....I think :)

Here's a couple of shitty pics of them.

I had one last year. As soon as the nodes started to alternate instead of coming in triplets I started to bloom it. She ended up with a 12" main cola and a 10' lower circumfrence in a 4 gallon bucket.
