KB srry to hear. Deff say no to the knives as long as u can stand. All the above sounds like good advice to me except the vape. Makes me cough my lungs out. We hav a massuse that works with Holy oil. She gives lots of relief,so if you are in a med state shop one up. You kno pain is just weakness leaven your body so embrace it. Good luck.Stay Frosty

What you're experiencing sounds very familiar. I always make sure that I have a back brace on before smoking just in case I cough. When I do feel a cough coming on I press the small of my back hard against the back of the chair. If standing I'll place my fist against the small of my back and then lean against a wall or doorjamb and press against my spine to stabilize it before the cough. Sitting in an uncomfortable chair becomes a nightmare, but a comfortable chair is my best friend. The chair simply must provide good lumbar support. I don't go to restaurants or anywhere else requiring me to sit, without bringing my own pillow along to place behind my back. Standing in one place is the worst though for me. Be very careful about lifting a heavy plant while in a crouched position. Lifting while the lower back is bent over is the quickest path to blowing out a disk.

x2 on the acupuncture . A friend broke his back , watched the sun rise for weeks , no sleep. The acupuncture was the only thing that would get him to sleep. I have seen some really amazing results from it on my dog too!

x3 on the acupuncture.

I've had sciatica bad a couple of times, exercises (laying down stretching the nerve out, which is being pinched) plus the acupuncture sorted it.

Feeling for you man! I've been in the same spot... I ruptured a disc about 3 weeks ago golfing and have been in excruciating pain ever since... can't work or really anything, my physical activity has been reduced to 2-3 block walks.

When I was 14 I blew out a disc in my back (who knows how) and had quite bad pain for about a year... affected my day to day life pretty badly. Ended up getting surgury and it fixed me until 3 weeks ago - no pain for nearly 2 decades. That operation gave me back my life.

So now I'm actually scheduled to get it operated on again since I haven't been able to do anything and am running out of sick leave from work.

People don't understand how bad the pain can be: can't stand still, can't sit at all, hardly walk, can't sleep, god you can't even sex, what a horrible affliction. And the insurance companies want you to just deal with it usually instead of getting fixed because it technically won't kill you, just everything you like to do.

I feel for you man, make sure you get in to have a MRI and stuff so you can know what is going on in there. The spine is a very fragile thing and the last thing you want to do is be hurting it more.

similar problem flares up...can you stretch the piriformis muscle ?? once it's loose i feel great !! peace homie

appreciate it guys! willing to do anything to get rid of this pain.....

going to go to my old trainers place today to get on his inversion table and im going to call my chiro to get adjusted....

actually slept for the first time in weeks last night, but the pain woke me up this morning, i feel like an ass calling my doctor for stronger medication, but nothing is helping....

hopefully the chiro will made me have a decent day tomorrow for my bday....

Fuck surgery...but..there is a decent alternative...check out the North American Spine website. They do the minimal invasion laser stuff that is supposed to be to well rated and be well in just a few days - like ....then find one that does it and has reviews from real people in your area and see if they can help you.

I had an l5-s1 disectomy in feb to relieve a herniated disk and bone spurs. Ive been on the strongest meds, done my physio and 4 mo0nths later I still feel my leg banging away although not as bad. In time, with a bulging disk you can strengthen the surrounding muscles taking pressure off the nerve, but if your planning on getting surgery be sure you get all the info on yours. Surgery is not always the answer, Bulging disks are quite common and This pain may go away in time. For me, I couldn put my chin to my chest and lift my right leg off the ground. Couldnt walk, shower, drive.....I still have trouble putting my socks on. Good luck.

called my chiropractor, started to explain what was wrong and he said "you have sciatica, i treat this everyday, its my specialty and i will have you in no pain in no time"!!

this made my day, week, month! ill suffer through today, to know there is relief tomorrow! woohoo!

Not trying to burst your bubble Krunch (Pun intended), but most chiropractors are quacks (not all, but most)! They only address the skeletal system, & not the musculoskeletal system. Find yourself a good physical therapist that won't just treat the symptoms, but will help you identify and address the underlying issue!

I've worked with clients with all sorts of Low Back Disorders (LBD) for over 10 years & have been able to help all of them in some capacity. Surgery is the absolute last resort, & I personally probably still wouldn't do it! Acupuncture can certainly help give u some relief, but is only as good as the person giving the acupuncture....so make sure u get multiple referrals.

It's been my experience that a bulging and/or herniated disc happens for 1 or more of these reasons (or in combination):

- Overweight, especially in the gut (This throws off ur center of gravity & puts strain directly on the low back area...usually on discs S1-L5 & L5-L4)

- Week Core (Not just abs, but the entire CORE....lumbo-pelvic-hip-complex or basically all muscles from ur thighs to ur chest & ur hamstrimgs to ur shoulder blades)

- Poor Posture (Constant poor posture while sitting or standing can lead to muscular weakness, imbalance, & strain/pressure on ur joints)

- Improper Form/Technique (Constant bad form in the gym or playing sports can lead to injury)

- Muscular Tightness/Weakness (Most people have short and tight posterior muscles...hamstrings, glutes, low back...from sitting a lot. This in combo with a weak CORE = Bad Low Back)

- Accident (A traumatic event...i.e. Car Accident, Skiing, etc)

So, find a good PT (Physical Therapist) & accupuncturist (if available). Look over the list above & see if anything applies to u, then work on it. As soon as the sciatic nerve calms down a lil, you'll be able to do some basic isometric (without movement...i.e. Google Plank exercise) CORE strengthening. And for sure all of ur posterior muscles (low back, glutes, hamstrings, & calves) will be super tight....so, stretch, stretch, stretch! But make sure you've warmed up first & are doing the correct stretches, the correct way, & for the correct amount of time!

Good Luck homie...I'm just coming off a 3'rd degree sprained ankle, so I feel ur pain!

i got into a car accident on 6/6/6, motherfucker sideswiped me in my Buick Grand National, part of my physical therapy was those electrolysis with a heating pad on my back.....

i liked it. but, my back would start to really sweat, and the electrodes would shock the shit out of me!

the chiro usually has me on this heat table with this huge roller going up and down my back for 30 minutes. then crack, snap, pop, he adjusts me , snaps my neck and i start seeing stars, walk out of there 2 inches taller.........

And I feel your pain. Did the same thing to my left ankle in a basketball tournament two years ago. Never thought I'd say "wish I broke it" regarding an injury. Hasn't been the same since.

when i first started training a few years ago, my back would constantly go out and would have to get adjusted to be 100% again...

for the past 6 months, i have been training all the posterior muscles, my thighs and calves are huge. and since then, my back has not gone out......

probably a good idea to start on abs again, i don't work them to often.....

and emphasizing on core training is something i should get back into, used to do it when i did P90X , years ago.....

every day is different for me too, today I'm walking like a 90 yr old on thorazine, really shuffling along as opposed to actually walking.......
