Fermented plant extracts

I applied a nettle fermented tea this morning to the plants in flower and after 12 hours I'm more than a little impressed. As in WOW!

I can't wait until I have enough comfrey leaves to brew up - this is the real deal.

Good Brotherhood acid.
"What's it all about Mr. Natural?"
"It don't mean shit."
RIP Owsley.

FPE is like making my own little bottles of organic nutes when I make them in these pint sized plastic water bottles. This stuff really changed how I look at gardening and foraging.

i have some bocking 14 on the way (late, i know). there is a lot of good info on what you can do with this wonder plant and i know it is very hard to kill, but how big does it get over time? sounds like something you would need to know if you are going to plant something as hardy as bocking 14 but i am finding nothing solid...... HELP!

A single comfrey plant will get 2-3' wide, about 1' high. Aerial parts die back in winter, so it won't get larger than that, unless you try to dig it up, then you'll end up with a large cluster of plants.

Bravo, this thread is awesome, actually this whole sub-forum is the reason I joined here. These ideas have completely changed my methods, and I think this is trailblazing information. I even have a JayKush poster up in grow room:dance013:

Okay - so by now all of the leaves and have decomposed with only the larger branches and stalk (with roots) remaining. I'm assuming that it's finished, correct?

About the smell at this point - this 'tea' (talk about abusing a word) smells exactly like fresh manure as it plops to the ground. It is overwhelming and there's almost a gag reflex if you get close to it as you're diluting it.

Is it accurate that comfrey smells worse/stronger than stinging nettle? Is that even possible? LOL

its never "finished" coot, as it ages you just have to dilute a little more. and then it gets to a point where it doesnt get stronger or weaker. now would be a good time to strain out the goopy matter and store the liquid in something for use whenever you want.

lol yea, you get used to it trust me. i can take big whiffs of nettle if i wanted to. when i first started i think i was on the verge of throwing up once.

actually its pretty funny, they all have there own unique smells. i wouldn't say any are worse than the others. although ill have to say the possible worst ive smelled was a nettle and alfalfa mixed extract. never again will i mix those two and thats also another reason why i prefer to make them separate.

if a person was to not be able to make these because of smell. just dont soak as long. make what would be a strong extract if you left it for weeks, and fill with water, but use it before it stinks(3-5 days). you wont have as strong an extract and wont get the most out of that single batch of extract but. you can always refill with the same plant material and repeat if need be.
