The best soil I've used for indoor potted mixes has been recycled for over a year now. It really does just keep getting better and better. Compost,EWC,local topsoils and forest debris mixed with common soil amendments...it's beautiful stuff for indoor potted organic living soil mixes. Everything looks great and performs well. Even the no till pots look excellent.

Re: Simplicity - Looking For The Perfect Soil

I am doing a side by side now. Exact same mixes, one was just used in a previous run, one was a fresh batch that say a month. The recycled batch is doing far better, not a sign of any def, the fresh batch is doing well, but I have a few plants showing what I thought was an N def, but I think it's more likely an iron def, only half of the plants are showing it..my thoughts are that it's there, just not available st this time for whatever reason....

I added nothing back to the recycled batch, except fresh ewc..it is really kicking ass! For sure better than the first run..

Of course this will depend on how big you veg your plants but I've been using this mix with great success and my patients have had good luck flowering plants about a foot tall and just watering in 3gal bags.

60% Roots soil
10% Ewc
10%compost
20% perlite

per gal I add:
1.5 tbs dolomite lime
1 tbs greensand
1 tbs Happy Frog 3-8-8
1 tbs kelp meal
1 tbs alfalfa meal
3/4 tbs soft rock phosphate

at the bottom of the pot I will add between 1-4 tbs of bone meal depending on the size plant/pot

Good luck man
