HI NVidia pretty tricky eh!

Hey BongDaddy - welcome to the Lodge. Pull up a chair next to the fireplace and I'll get you a cold one!

I've been lucky that I only had some fruit flies once when I bought a crappy bunch of flowers at the grocery store. My basement is about 36% humidity so no mold problems.

Sometimes we get fruit flies in the middle of summer. It's usually because we left something in the fruit bowl a little too long. What did you do to get rid of yours? Did they do any harm to your plants?

3 days of golf. I'm jealous.
I dont think I've seen 3 dry days here since spring started.
I did get out for 9 on Friday, though.
Cheers Red

Hey Bongdaddy - I got the fruit flies from sticking a grocery store plant in the growbox during veg and then put up with them until my grow was over. I couldn't see where they bothered the plant at all, must have laid eggs in the soil. I was using molasses at the time so that didn't help matters.

Hey Sarge - I play in a league and this is our annual spring golf trip with 40 guys. We played 18 on the first day, 36 on the second day and 18 on the third day then came home. I couldn't even close my hands when I came home. Weather was so-so. We played in warm drizzle for the first two days and the third day was sunny and warm.

Scrubber_Medium_.JPG

Here's my project for today. I built an nice scrubber box following my old design. I've had the material for a long time, just never got around to putting it together.

The other day I put a flange on the fan on the back of the growbox and ran 20' flexible dryer duct into the crawlspace.

Now I got it all hooked up and working with a nice bit of airflow.

I'll dig up the build directions from my old DIY Rubbermaid thread later on.

Hey Mountain John, pull up a comfy chair and I'll get ya a brewski. I sure like week 5+ when the girls bloom. I noticed a bit of N def this morning on the lower leaves so I did a second feeding in a row cause they are pulling hard.

Hey BongDaddy, actually there's a filter in the growbox filled with carbon with an AC computer fan and ducted in series with the new filter box. It's working great and actually improved the airflow through the cab.

Here's the grow cab filter. It has a 65CFM computer fan at the back of the growbox with a flange and 20' of ducting connected to the remote filter box.

Here's my build directions for the filter box. I went and chucked out the original when I had the big renovation job in my house. I've kicked myself ever since cause the in cab filter was never as good.

Carbon Air Filter

My air filter uses two Sterilite containers. The small one must fit inside the large one.

The bottom is cut out of the small tub, I left a small rib in the center to support the screening.
Glue the window screen in place with the epoxy.

The lid of the large box is cut so that the small box with fit into it.

Intake holes are cut into the large box and the dryer adapters are fitted onto it. You can just duct tape it to the side if you don't have the adapters. This is probably the first time that duct tape is actually used for it's intended purpose. The flap is removed from the dryer adapter and I use a hack saw to trim off the pipe on one side.

A computer fan and a dryer hose adapter is fitted onto the lid of the small box.

When the filter is all assembled, I take silicone caulking and seal up crack where the small box goes into the large box lid.

My setup uses 1/2 lb of activated charcoal for a filter depth of 1" that I buy at the pet store. The 1" layer is good for the whole grow.

red, that's the reason I barely ever throw anything out. The trouble with that though is it tends to collect. I suffer from "you never know when you might need it." Usually I've forgotten about most of what I've saved though lol

My garage is full of little scraps of just about anything you can think of. I don't think I'm a candidate for that "Hoarders" show yet, but maybe in a couple of years. ;)

Ha, I'm the other way. I'm a chucker. That reminds me of when I was living at home and had bought my first motorcycle. It was a 450 Honda CM, a real nice little bike. Anyway my dad's old shed was so full of stuff I started cleaning it out to put my bike away. He came out to help me and we ended up with two 1/2 ton loads of junk for the dump. My Dad was putting back as fast I was dragging out at one point. LOL

I'd sure like to see the orginal up close. I bet he'd get a kick out of DIY pot growing. LOL

Here's the girls mid week 5. They are just staring to bulk up and are they smelly but in a nice way!

Hey Bongdaddy,

I normally veg about 1 month or until the I'm happy with the plant development if I do LST or SCROG. These plants got a slow start cause of the cold temperatures down the basement.

With these girls, I've been pruning fan leaves from the top buds to let light penetrate down but normally will only trim off leaves that block budsites.

I'll trim off small shoots from the bottom that don't get enough light. These are for the cook. I found I can stick a fresh budlet in my vaporizer and it works great. Don't even have to dry or anything.

Here's some budshots of my girls at day 32. They are starting to bulk up. I like it when the buds start to wobble when you move the pot around.

Looking mighty tasty. When you vaporize those shoots, would you do it at any stage of flowering? Like would you use some from these girls at 30-something days?

Hey Cannatopia, I'm the real slim shady. There's duct tape here and there. It's just not built from it. LOL

Hey Bongdaddy, I tried a popcorn bud but it's too early. Put a smile on my face and that's about it.

I gave the girls a week 6 feeding tonight with what might be thier last meal with just 800 ppm of Sensi Bloom, no Big Bud.

I tested the pH of the mix at 6.5 and got 6.6 and 6.7 run off from both girls. I know from past runs, the earlier feedings run as low as 6.3. This shows me the girls are taking up the nutes and it's not building up in the soil.

The plants bulk up on Weeks 5 and 6 and then slow down. Hopefully I can match the eating with the feeding cause I want super clean buds on this run.

I've been giving a 7 to 10 day flush for the last couple of grows in weeks 8-9. That would be a flushing watering of 2x the pot size with normal plain waterings as the plants need it.

It's my impression that I've been feeding too much in weeks 7-8 and that there is too much nutes stored in the plant and soil for it to clear it all. I've also been a little heavy on the nutes earlier on.

This grow my plan is to fertilize to week 6 and run plain water to let the plant clear the soil of stored nutes for the rest of the grow. I might give one 300 ppm feeding in week 7.
When I see the trichs turn, I'll flush then.
