Up or Out

Hello kind people. I've been running vertical for a few months and am very happy with how things are going. The room is 7'x9'x16' and currently I am running 1kw bulb around 4' off of the ground. I'll be adding a second 1kw bulb real soon but don't know if I should hang it about the first bulb and build a second row of shelves for the plants to sit on or if I should run the bulbs at the same height and pack in the plants around the perimeter of the room. Any guidence is welcome. :tiphat:

Are you planning on further expansion? How many watts are you looking to end up with once it's all said and done?

What kind of plant numbers and sizes are you looking at?

I don't plan on going larger than 2kw and I don't think more than 20 plants in bloom at once. Perpetually. Moving in one in & out of the rotation every two weeks.

I'd say side by side bulbs with a stadium setup using 2 rows of shelves per side, 5 plants per shelf. Possibly use a rig to move the bulbs up and down like Marlos to decrease shadows.

@forkup-That's a good idea
@trichy-I want to make sure things are all right before beginning the show.
Let's say I was to hang the bulbs next to eachother as appose to above one another...what should or what could the distance be between the bulbs?

On paper...stacked should yield the best...2nd would be two completely separate 1lighters...followed by 2 lights side by side in a rectangle.
Side by side 1K's can be as tight as 30" apart or up to 48"...I like 39", very even growth right down the line...

DHF-thanks brother!
If I were to build the second row...it might be a pain in the rump to get to those ladies once they've stretched and are packing on the weight. It may just be well worth the effort to hang the two lights next to eachother (~40") and pack 12 containers in side in a row on each side. So, as of today, the last of the current bloom room plants should be finished in a month and then we can move in the new round.
About how much loss of light will I get from hanging them next to eachother? 10%-25%?
Is the additional 1kw going to be that benneficial when it comes to yield v/ power consumption?

You've touched on something that has been on my mind ever since seeing my very first Stadium or side-by-side bare bulb...there should be a vertical reflector in between them.
Remember...you heard it here first Folks!:tiphat:

1K's are always worth it:)
