A lot of awesome grows in this thread!
I was about to buy a 250w but I think i'm just gonna go ahead and join the 400w Club :)

Could you guys give me some details on your ventilation setups, everything from scrubbers to fan's and if your running a air cooled hood etc. Along with your ambient and cab temps.
I'll be using a tent that's about 3x3x5'9 and am thinking about running the light through a 6in aircooled hood and then running the scrubber separately. I'm just not sure what size fans to use really cause I need it to be somewhat quiet atleast from outside of the room.
Does anyone run the S&P inline fans?

I have a 30"w X 25"deep cab. I run a passive intake system with a 6" Vortex sucking fresh air in through a filtered 8"x8" darkroom vent, through a air-cooled hood, and out of the cab. The air is then pushed through a DIY carbon filter that is in my attic crawlspace. Canopy temperatures were always within a few degrees of room temps and I keep the house cool (65ish) most of the time so I don't even bother checking temps anymore. As I mentioned above I would prefer not to use the AC just to grow so I'll shut down in the summer and let my house go into the 80s.

I'll be using a tent that's about 3x3x5'9 and am thinking about running the light through a 6in aircooled hood and then running the scrubber separately.

I wouldn't do this. It requires 2 fans and provides no benefit, unless you are running CO2. You can get more than adequate fresh air exchange and cooling with one fan and eliminate extra expense and noise.

I'm just not sure what size fans to use really cause I need it to be somewhat quiet atleast from outside of the room.

I would recommend one 6" centrifugal (Vortex, Eclipse, Can, ect). The rushing air makes more noise than the actual fan - at least in the case of my Vortex.

Thanks for the response.
I was going to run the light and filter separate because I figured this would help keep the tent cooler. I won't be able to vent the heat anywhere but back into the room.
I'm all for just using 1 fan if i'll still get the same amount of cooling. However I have no idea what cfm fan i'd need grouped with the right sized scrubber.

If you set things up properly and can keep the room in your house-apartment that houses your tent below 75 degrees F you will have no problems keeping your tent cool (less than 80F). Venting hot air away from the intake will help keep the room that houses your tent cool. Running two fans doesn't buy you anything as the light generates the same amount of heat with one fan or two fans - and that heat goes the same place (into the room) either way.

The nice centrifugal fans that I mentioned are all going to be about 400cfm which you can tune down if you want using a dimmer switch. Search the brand names I provided if you want more information.

Edit: If you run CO2 it is good to have the fan on another loop (or run a closed system) as you it cuts the need to exhaust the room, and thus the CO2, as frequently.

Alright cool, I had planned on keeping ambient temps around that anyways.

I'm just trying to figure out the right filter/fan combo. From my research it seems there's no problem with running a oversized filter correct? Looking at a Phresh that's rated at 400cfm max, and then there's a 6" can fan that does like 280cfm. However i'm trying to find out how much cfm i'll lose after pulling through the scrubber, air cooled hood and then some ducting, while still getting enough air exchange to keep the girls happy.

satori, def go with the 400. it'll prob end up being cheaper and you'll be able to flood a 3x3 area with light. I'm only working with a 2x2 space and I was worried about high temps initially but it hasn't gotten above 80. All i'm running is an aircooled hood > 4" regular inline fan(it was a gift but im assuming its from homedepot) exhausting into the attic. I also have 3 pc fans in the corners. If it ever gets too hot like during the summer I can just put a 4ft. tower fan right at the entrance of the cab.

With a 6" fan rated around 400cfm you are not going to lose enough cfm that cooling is going to be affected. Basically, you are going to end up turning your tent into a mini wind tunnel. I would think an oversized filter would last longer.

finally back!

finally back!

Hey, been lurking this page for years, now I finally have my 400 set up at my new location. These are some Flying Dutchmans Sk#1 possibly crossed by an unknown...we shall see when they are done. Definitely not up to par w/ some of you other fellas, but they are still my babies. This is my 4th grow, using ProMix with organic ferts, almost into week 4 now.

p.s. I love 400s!

Lookin good everyone.

It's been a month now and I adore my 400. I've always micro grown with CFLs so it's pretty awesome to have 3ft. tall plants.

does that look like bubba to anyone else but me?

Thanks for the replies and input, guys. My buddy came by and let me have 3 pc fans. I 1 in each corner. Probably gonna add a few more and the cab has stayed pretty cool. Hasn't gone over 80 all day. I'm actually surprised, my tiny CFL cab ran at at least 75. That was without any ventilation. The inline fan is def doing it's job by exhausting all that hot air from around the bulb into the nice cool attic.

In the summer, AC will only be an option if it's completely necessary. We usually don't run it unless it get sweltering which is rare this far up north. Luckily I have a big window that is literally 1 foot from the closet door where the cab is.

I've managed to put this whole thing together with little help and no experience. The only thing i have yet to do is install an intake. So far I don't really have one, I can't think of what would work best. The cab is a simple wood frame draped in panda film, anyone have any ideas for a way to install something that would let air in but not light??

here is an idea you might want to try.I hade serious problems keeping my heat under controll and the exhaust/intake was not working so i made 2 intake holes and now run a fan continuously. My plants love the continued fresh air and seem to be doing great.Dont know if this will work for you but i thought i would throw it out there.
