Here's the idea I had. Instead of attempting to fully legalize in 2012, simply hold a vote on a proposition that is very simple. "No person shall be jailed for more than 6 months, nor be subject to probation, parole, or state supervision for longer than 12 months for any non-violent marijuana offense with the exception of distribution to minors or cultivating where the grower doesn't have permission (public land, someone else's private land)."

And guess what? 6 months jail sentence is a misdemeanor. Once this takes effect, there would be no justification for spending all the money that's spent now to round up a bunch of low level offenses.

Trust me on this guys! I've thought about it, and I can't quit thinking about it.

But alas, I know, that probably no one who runs that show over there is going to listen to me...they have their agenda's and egos to feed....but, if in the off chance one of you has a connection, will you send my idea on?

This is a good idea, but I like George Carlin's solution. it was something like this.

Full legalization and release all the people prison for non violent drug "crimes" NOW! Do this and we wont go ape shit, release all the really pissed off prisoners, pump them full of pcp and meth; then let them run a muck, kill and eat all the stupid sheep people that enforced pot laws for the last 50 years.

That sounds like more a more reasonable offer when you consider all the harm to America from fascist travesty that is the drug war.

by the way people this post is just humor so don't get your panties in a wad.

I don't want this idea to die. I think any legalization bill without taking something off the top is rigged!

have you seen the way some of these people treat pro legalization folks?

some people just don't wanna get flamed to hell and gone on their original names.

you saw how the prohibition supporters acted on the 19 threads.

I did see how they acted... and I posted dozens of times under my one and only account.

I'm against sock usage in general when it comes to our little community.

I'm also not bagging on "maybeforsure". If he's not a sock (or even if he is) more power to him. What we need to do is have a realistic discussion without the troll-bait and flame-wars and discuss things intelligently. Hell, we could cumulatively "draft" new legislation that could then be sent to lawyers to examine, edit and then be posted anywhere and everywhere such things are reasonably posted.

Maybe sent to politicians....

?

We need to discuss how to hammer out a REALISTIC while still not-too-restrictive solution that will appease the "Save the Children" crowd while relaxing the draconian measures that are currently wielded at us.

And I'm not in Cali either.

Many things to assess here.
Many segments of population and philosophies to consider.

I showed my sister TWO LIGHTS and she though I was fucking Tony Montana!

But when you 'come out of the closet' you open yourself up to hostility that you would not normally encounter.

So why in God's Green Earth, would people supporting their selves and family 'Open Up' when it will just be used against them?

I'm for rescheduling, although I see a need for lack of jail time, except for selling to minors! I'm for the environment but why make more laws in addition to rescheduling cannabis, the government makes it legal to grow your own cannabis who is going to go way out in the woods to grow cannabis!:plant grow::plant grow:

i am for the environment and against the system! full legalization is the way to go. yes, i understand myself and many other people would take a hit in the wallet, but it is and always has been the right way to handle the whole issue. the only way to simplify anything these days is to take the money out of it ........JMHO ....fire away

I have to agree with Green that a hit in the wallet is far better than 5 years of jailhouse pork in the poop-chute.

But that's just IMHO. Maybe because I'm gettin' kinda old and a bit set in my ways...

Indeed, my guess is the majority of those screaming for it to remain illegal are narrow minded young people who haven't quite developed the ability to see the whole picture yet. I'm not young, but I'm not old either. I'm probably closer to young than I am old, but I've developed my sense.
