I think he was referring to it as the End Game for the US as the world's hegemonic power. Other countries would no doubt love to see a more stable currency system than the cancerous dollar and they are already making maneuvers to do so. However, when we "officially" loose reserve currency status inflation will skyrocket here. It will mark end of the old world order controlled by the American Empire. That's going to be a hard pill to swallow for all the American Exeptionalism believers

I spend a lot of time in Asia in general and what many in the west don't get is while our economies are in melt down their economies are going from strenght to strength.

I spent a lot of time in southeast Asia too. I grew up there in fact. People in the US cannot grasp the fact that the world will continue on without us as we go down the tubes. Americans are indoctrinated as such in the schooling system here. American exceptionalism is constantly pounded into our heads by media, government, and the educational (indoctrinational) system.

Also, China has their own inflation and central planning problems. China is as capitalist as the US is. They have a communism based centrally planned society and we have a corporatacy/fascist centrally planned society. Neither of which has much to do with true capitalism or the free market economics.

as a former real estate broker I know that it is not legal for any foreign entity to own farm/agricultural land in minnesota, you can be sure that many other states have similar statutes.

They may not be able to buy the land, but they are getting in on getting the energy beneath it. China want's to be a major player in the natural gas/oil extraction boom. South Texas is boomtown again right now. It's nuts.

China’s third- largest oil company has spent at least $3.8 billion on overseas acquisitions in the past year as the nation’s energy demand surges.

“The deal reflects the ambition of Chinese companies to enter the global oil and gas industry, especially when China’s gas demand is expected to rise sharply,” said Grace Liu, an energy analyst with Guotai Junan Securities in the southern city of Shenzhen.

We have 8 rigs down there now doing directional work. 5 are Chesapeake. In a not very roundabout way I work for the Chinese. I never really thought about it until now. That's about right lol.

When/If their middle class really takes off they are going to need A LOT of energy. The United States has the natural gas reserves, but more importantly we have the technology and methods well refined for extracting those resources. They want both badly. More so the "how" so they can take it back home and implement it. But our gas reserves are a gold mine.
