Whats your plan for the heat that those chillers produce ?
when I had my dehumidifier inside, my temps went up and
I finally had to move it outside in front of the intake.

Everything else looks awesome man !:lurk:

@ Lil - I Have opted to leave the tent fully open the whole time, well... I'll check and make sure it's light proof through the A/C first.

I put Panda Plastic on the window to block the light from the neighbors at night. I cut a hole so the window A/C pokes through the plastic.

I am also going to hang a piece of panda plastic on the door to enter the room that way it's all light proof.

With the tent doors open, the A/C on 24/7 and the 6" Vent Fan moving the heat out of the room the temps have maintained a steady 68 - 78 depending on the outside temps.

Running the lights only at night will help alot.

So, this way, it really doesn't matter where the chiller is.

Hopefully everything is light proof, if not, I'll make sure it is before I flip the switch in a few days.

Photo Update: Today is the last day of veg.... time to get this one finished and take what was learned and apply it to a beautiful grow.

So far, I've decided to rip out the Cheap 3/4 inch piping after this grow and install more flexible hydroponic tubing like our 1/2" feed line. I figure this way, we can arrange the buckets closer together in the beginning and then spread them apart as we go.

Also, this cheap plastic tubing leaked a lot until I clamped the Shit out of it and the salts started to build up and clog the little pin holes that were barely dribbling.

Anyways, Everything is looking EXCELLENT, the Sweet tooth in the waterfarms have HUGE root masses, and are bright white.

The small clones have all dropped plenty of roots into the RDWC so.... tomorrow at 6am it's lights off.

The little guy on the left in the waterfarm was on advanced and struggling, once switched to lucas and h202, the roots are white and the plant stopped the weird curling and deficiencies, within a few days it was growing again and throwing beautiful 9 leafers.

Lights had Just clicked on when I got home today. Perfect Timing.

The First day of flower was perfect, the temps were about 67 when I got home... still have to check the high/low.

I was able to blindly slip in to the room right after lights off this morning and looked for light leaks... there are two very small light leaks at the top of the Panda Plastic on the window... luckily they were small and above the tent ceiling so no light was anywhere near the plants.

There was a small light leak through the A/C vent that I'll take care of tonight.

So far so good

Good to hear! What are your daytime highs, with the lights on?

I'd love to be 67 at the low, .. Instead, I'm around 64, sometimes 62..

:dunno:

Well Crap.. I checked the high/low.... It was freaking COLD in there....

Most likely in the morning with the A/C on it was 57.

So, Now I'll be running a timer on the A/C :)

Typical Lights on Temps at night are about 78 with everything on 100%

With the chiller the water has not gone over 71.

Out of Panda Plastic... damn.

just personal taste but to me the only reason for anyone to force their bud to turn purple is usually because they are sellers trying to make an extra buck off a strain that isnt purple by genetics..

trichs become so much more brittle when forcing a plant to turn purple with cold temps, this tends to diminish the quality of the strain by a pretty big margin. im just very picky i like to get the most out of every gram i grow, for instance i dont ever use my buds for kief, i used to but i noticed how much of a difference it made without scrapping all the trichs off.

just me but i would never do that, the only time i grow purple is when im able to get a strain with those genetics.

i feel you on the water farm, i have to constantly check it. im always putting so much water in that damn thing, during flowering ill use at least 1 gallon of water for 1 bucket a day easily..

heh it is called a water farm so i guess i shouldnt complain.

im surprised youre able to put your ring in so deep like that, mine is higher so it kind of splashes keeping the rocks constantly moist. i also sometimes have trouble with the holes in the ring getting clogged over time.

I can't argue with your logic as it at least in my limited experience does hold some water.

Low temps will make em purp even if they aren't breed that way. Might hurt an equatorial Sativa quite a bit, but I'm betting the effect would be lessened on a higher latitude climate Indica.

Each their own, I don't shoot for purp, (can't get my room that cool anyway) But with each strain wanting different shit, I've gotta just run what I can and get away with!

I'm not too concerned with the purple... and like to keep the temps normal as I feel the cold slows the growth. But I've definitely tried it...

@Gerbik - I hate the splashing, so I chopped a little bit of of each pipe then snapped it back together and BAM!! no more splashing.

If salt gets bad, I run a Flushing Agent for a few hours to kill the salts... then I take the ring off and wash it and smash it back in there.

Damn... I can't wait to have all 12 in the same system so I can stop constantly fucking with it... the RDWC has only needed slight ph adjustments.... while it takes longer to see the results of the adjustment, I just re-check my PH after an hour and adjust accordingly.

Usually my guess with the Ph Down has been solid and I'm just shooting for a level somewhere between 5.7 and 6.3

Lately it's been 5.9 - 6.0 and I love it.

On the splashin', .. A buddy of mine used to use a waterfarm, and he ended up just pushing the rings down (from where they connect to the stem, so the ring is at an angle), and essentially "burying" the majority of the ring in the hydroton. Seemed to minimize the splashing (which always meant dried salts everywhere - on the bucket, on the leafs, on the floor..)

He finally got fed up with the too-many-moving-parts (stems would clog, airlines would clog, rings would clog..) that he ended up going with an ebb-and-gro setup. (Which looks a lot like what your DIY RWDC is, Mile High)

You know what you're doing - you don't need my two cents. :dance013:

Sounds like a nice garden! :D

I lost all my pepper starts!!!!: I'm pretty pissed, I'll have to go to a nursery for the regular shit and pay way too much.

But I am hardening off 2 Bolivian Rainbow Peppers for container grows next to the front door. As well as 5 Purple Beauty Bells and 1 Hot bannana that will be containers in the back yard! :tiphat:

I LOVE it! If you don't mind a brief hijack, here's what I have this year:

Green peppers - 2
Early tomatoes - 2
Super beefsteak (gross) - 1
Roma - 6
Grape Tomatoes - 4
Seedless cukes - 2
Boston cukes - 2
Mini romaine - 4
Zukes - 2

And:
Jalapenos - 2
Yellow Sun - 6
Cayenne - 5
Garanong - 6
Chile de Arbol Purple - 1
Hawaiian sweet hot - 3
Pimento do Barro- 2
Costa Rican red - 2

I started my stuff wwaaaayyyyy too early, I'm seeing. My tomatoes are literally 24-30" tall. Started 'em back on 2-27. :)

I also set up a DWC/top fed deal in the basement, under some T12s. Two grape tomatoes, a roma, and a green pepper. That's a total shits-and-giggles project.

Just finished building my raised beds outside - 10" tall, 3' wide by 16' long - two of 'em. Will be filled with a mix of local compost, Pro Mix HP, and EJ Rainbow Mix bloom.

Good luck! I've been thinking about starting a thread in the reggalar veggies & right-handed-growing forums, but I've been too lazy. If I do, consider this my first post.

;)

Haha... me too.

Nothing provokes the energy to post and take pictures like beautiful weed plants....

but, the garden, it's enough work on it's own.

I'll take some random pics later as things get bigger.

@ Silver.. I lost a whole bunch after transplant due to cold night and a hot day, oh well, this is my first BIG garden, normally much smaller and in containers so I'll be learning a lot this year. I just bought a book called Square Foot Gardening..... so far it's awesome.

So... I did the same thing and spent money on starts at the nursery.
