I lived in Florida a few years back. I had a court case for DUI and Possesion and Faliure to maintain a lane. I went to court and it was continued. 2 days later as I was leaving for a date with this girl.....first one, I open the door and there stands this cop. He reaches out and takes me by the wrist and asks my name. I told him and he said I was under arrest for faliure to appear. I said I had my court papers right there by the door. He took me to the car and placed me in cuffs and put me in the back seat. He then searched my jacket I had in my hand. Oz of bud and he threw it on the seat. He then retrieved my court papers saying I was in fact in court 2 days before. Other cops rool up and he switches the light off in the patrol car. Says all is ok and he needs no help here. He then reads the court papers and all. Takes the weed and knocks on the window where I was sitting and dumps the weed out. Said we are all not bad guys. Then he gets into the car and asks why I am all dressed up I tell him I have this first date with a real cute girl in an hour. I was on the way to pick her up. He whips out his cell phone and asks if I want to call her. I laughed and said sure. He dials the number and then explains to her what had happened and who he is. He hands me the phone and I talk to her for a few minutes. We then drive to the cop shop and he checks me in and he took my court papers and explained to the guy there is a mistake that I had indeed went to court 2 days before.

I was on the street in 10 minutes. He gave me a ride back to my house. I picked up the weed off of the ground and made the date that night.

They are not all assholes. To some it is just a job.

I have never been helped by a police officer. Only harrassed or hindered. No speeding warnings, no warnings for expired registration. I've had state troopers drive by me when I was broken down. They've crashed reasonable parties. No cop has ever been friendly, only condescending and smug. I've been mugged and beat up before, no justice there.

I've been pulled over in my driveway while checking my mail on the way back from work. His first question, "Do you live here?" ... I responded with, "No, I'm just stealing this mail here. Of course I live here." He told me he pulled me over because I didn't use a blinker into my driveway. I live in a rural area. WTF??

NEVER a pleasant experience, either uneventful, or some sort of citation. This has been as true now, as it was 20 years ago when I got my license. Cops are just compensating for being socially awkward in high school. How do I know? I went to high school with them.

Short answer? NO.

got arrested on a warrant because of my name. after about 5 cops showed up to enjoy the fun 1 of them started comparing me with the description of who they were looking for. wrong tattoos and eye color, so i was let go. thank you to the officer that was smart enough to read

i do have to point out that i am WAY FUCKING GLAD that i was not the guy they were looking for. whatever the guy did was giving them a major hard on and i am not sure how my night would have gone if things had not been straitened out.

Early 70s my boss got popped for a couple hundred pounds. He turned and brought an undercover in to work with me. We partied like hell for six months non stop. 86 people were busted. I had 126 counts of distribution mostly cannabis and LSD. A week before court I went to his house. He wouldn't open the door until I convinced him that I brought a case of beer and a bag of weed to party not to kill. We partied. Went to court and my lawyer put the cop on the stand first, and asked him to point me out. He couldn't. Mine and everybody else's cases were thrown out. He got fired that day. He is living well and happy now. I returned a twelve string Yamaha to his son a junky stolen so the lawyer was pro bono.

Honestly, I've only had one encounter with Leo that hasn't been positive, and it was a small man syndrome cop who must have been having a bad day, he pulled me over for going 70 in a 65 on a freeway where trafic flows at 80-85. Every other cop has been nice to me.

I had a lot of positive ones believe it or not.

But I'm not in the states and seem like a real good boy .

Guys putting the speed on my ticket lower so I would pay less (half) and half the points on the license.

Also, one time when I was much younger, I haven't done this again...

but I was with my girlfriend we had done some molly and we we're driving in the country side

I was driving 40km in a 90km (safety first), but I know that slow driving can be as dangerous as too fast.
I was in a real good mood, and I was enjoying the moment

there was like 20 cars behind us

next thing you know, cherries and berries

we had just smoked a joint and my gf had some weed in her purse

they took us out, and we played the good kids, which we are/were

they smelled the weed, and could tell I was really high lol,
they didn't search us or anything

there were at least 4 cops

one of them was a real animal, tough guy, saying Your high man, I know it
I said no no, I just smoked a joint my friends way earlier

he said no no your really high shining the light in my eyes and acting like a brute

but there was another officer, he was the tall skinnier guy with glasses, he was real cool, asked my gf if she could drive, and they just let us go, strange because she was as high as me lol

luckily I didn't get a ticket for slow driving

it was a bit embarassing

at the moment I thought it was the end

(I haven't done the driving high again after that, and I don't do that stuff anymore)

people must have positive experiences with cops because they would be hated by all if not

Once somebody jacked the stereo out of my car while I was two weeks from harvest. I was growing in a closet, huge plants, stunk up the place. Just so happened I was on crutches at the time for breaking my leg.

I called the cops to just put in a verbal report...but before you know it, LEO was at the front door. SHIT!!!

Well I just played it cool, let the guy in. first thing he did was smell the air. He looked at me and said, do you mind if i take a look around? I just said sorry man but my roommates are sleeping, I dont want to disturb em...plus I just got robbed today and my armpits hurt from these damn crutches so Im not really in a good mood. He thought for a minute, then smiled and said yea that sucks. then he pointed to my giant bong sitting on top of the kitchen table.

thoughts in my head - - "FUUUUUUCK" but he said "really man Im one of the guys who thinks it should be legalized...you dont deal do you?" I said "no definitely not, Its just with my leg this way I dont want to be taking the pills they give me" he said "smart kid". We chatted for a minute or two about random stuff then he shook my hand and said "Seriously now be careful, not all cops are as nice as me."

With that he left.

Brought my girls to a safe house and harvested so much weed I did a little dance afterwards. Never heard from the police, no follow up or anything.

I've been pulled over about a half dozen times, and got a ticket once. All times they treated me with respect and courtesy.

But this in the Midwest, in a more literate city. I hear on both coasts and also in the country, the cops are much worse.

Ohio isn't good for much, but the cops, in my experience, are very reasonable in general.

Smoked a few joints with a cop when I was younger and those were positive experiences because we were high as hell together

That is always a rush because you still expect them to bust your ass any second and get all serious on you suddenly but that never happened thankfully

So I was sitting there on the couch I can still remember it, was a dude I went to school with in uniform with full belt and everything on, hitting a big fat joint with me of weed I grew. lol he didn't know I grew it though of course! Classic.

Was unpacking boxes from the car with my mom when some dipshit drove by slowly and fired 6 shots from a handgun into the air. My mom ran into the house when she heard the shots but I kept my eye on the gun and moved around the car to the front. When he passed by I ducked behind the engine block. Then in my mind I was like, "Fuck, he's gonna get away with this". So I jumped in the car and chased him down while calling 911. I ended up cussing out the 911 operator when he told me I shouldn't be following him lol.

Cops bagged him, I ID'd him. When we first moved here we would hear gunshots all the time. Haven't heard any since. Dumb fuck.

The only time I ever have to deal with a cop, is when I have been speeding.

I usually get a warning. Because I am upfront with them, and I don't carry weed on me.

I tend to deal with them as little as possible. "Yes sir!/No sir!/No excuse sir!" has gotten me out of a lot of trouble. But, in the course of 50+ years most encounters, I'll say, haven't been negative...just some not so good! And I'll be up front abut it, there are some good guys, but they are too few for the number of psychotics that take particular pleasure in doing their job.
