I used to spend all weekend out on my old baker board with my buddies. We'd just hit the streets and do our thing all weekend. I miss those days. I was never any good at skating, but I had fun getting hurt and being out with friends.

Good thread. Brings back a lot of memories.

OK, I know I'm an old fuck... but back in the day (lol) we were way into skateboarding. The town I lived was down in a valley, and the residential areas were in the surrounding hills. We use to board at night, down these long streets. It was surreal, the only thing you heard was the sound of the wheels. I wore a windbreaker that had a drawstring at the waist. I would open it up and use it as an air brake.

There was one super steep street coming down from College Hill. You had to weave back and forth to keep your speed down, but eventually, you got going so fast you just had to go straight and hope like hell you didn't have to come off the board (as by then you were going too fast to jump off). We ended up starting a fad, and soon lots of younger guys were doing it. That ended when one guy went down and had to be airlifted to the hospital.

There was also a highway south of town that had a great 2 mile run from top to bottom. My last ride was there. One day, some asshole in a car forced me onto the shoulder, and of course a pebble jammed a wheel and I went flying... and broke my wrist when I landed in the sagebrush. Ahh, good times!

Ran across a random video some uploaded for 2 parks I rode as a kid-Darien Lake skateboard park and BJ's in Hamilton-there is an old Toronto park in the mix as well

Too bad video and pics were not as common back then-not much but memories left now. Great time to grow up

I got up around 6:30 am to go skate today(because of the weather). its so great learning new stuff. Just recently I've learned smiths and feeble grinds. Still working on nose and crooked nose grinds. I am starting to build my own stuff as well. I have room in my basement for a mini, but I think i'd rather just build a quarter pipe.
