I am a noob and i have a load of questions wich are probably discussed in the forum hundreds of times... and i would like to use the search but it is just quite shitty.

Like i searched from the titles "under the volcano dust", it gave me nothing because the thread was "under the vulcano dust". the problem is that when searching some general issue when i search from titles i have to put all the words right to see the right threads. And when searching from entire posts, it gives like 50 threads with the search words in them.

Or is it just me who cant use it properly? I go to shroomery too and it has the most incredible search feature, i have found like all that im looking for from there always.

Yeah, the wording has to be exact for the thread your looking for to come up.

A few tricks I use are:

1.Use the advanced search function and then click the drop down arrow and select "in titles only." This will search for your search words that are only located within the title of a thread.

2. only use a keyword or two that is included in the title

3. use tip one and two within a particular forum's search function

4. try multiple different spellings including adding a comma, apostrophie, etc..

These might help you some

if all else fails use the google advanced search.
sometimes I find its easier to get specific info.

If you are looking for something specific, put it in Parentheses...that will only give results for those words, in that specific order--:tiphat:

Search feature sucks donkey balls

i've been lookin for a decent donkey show...

This is true - most internet sites/forums do not have a decent search feature.

Want to know how to get around that?

I use mozilla. Top right hand corner, it has a google searchbar. Works f'n beautiful, and it finds shit from other sites too, so you almost always find what you're looking for!

Easy!

There is a right way and a wrong way to seek information and voice criticism.

If you have questions about the search function, go ahead and ask them. State that you are not satisfied with the search function and give some suggestions for improving it.

I'm not sure why you have to say 'it sucks donkey balls' and it's 'quite shitty'. That is just a totally idiotic approach to things and will not get you any favours from me or any other admin/mod or respectable member on this site.

The fact is, there are a lot of people that donate their time and energy to this site...yes donate, as in for FREE> The reason they do it is because they are passionate about the site, the community and the Cannabis cause. We are not Google, we don't have their resources to develop a search engine like theirs, but we do have over 160k registered members, and 3.5+ million posts. You think that's easy to manage and maintain? Go ahead and walk just one day in my shoes, and we'll see what you have to say then.

Listen up noob, show some respect to the community and this site. We always welcome criticism and we are constantly trying to improve the site, so if you have constructive criticism, by all means, let us know, but don't be a douche bag and start threads in this manner. It's just not cool.

Im totally sorry, i expressed myself badly. I was not trying to be disrespectful to the site or anyone running it. Its a great site and I love it, it has tons of good information. And the people are friendly. The title about donkey balls was written jokingly.

I dont know much about how search features work and how you can modify them but my suggestion is that when you search something it shoulnt be taken word by word, like when you type one word differently. Searching "big titted naked ladies" then you would also find "big titted naked whores".

Again, Im very sorry, I didnt mean to offending.

** Enter quotation marks (" ") around your search terms to search for an Exact Phrase; the system considers this information required and only returns instances in which the full phrase is found.
For example: Enter "java programmer" to return listings where the words java and programmer appear together and in that order.

**Enter a plus sign (+) before a search term to search for a Required Word; the system only returns results in which this word is found.
For example: Enter java +programmer (be sure to include a space between the first word and the + symbol) to returns all listings that contain the word programmer. Those listings that also contain the word java will be returned first.

**Enter a minus sign (-) before search term to exclude a word; the system will not return any instances in which the Excluded Word appears.

For example: Enter programmer -tester (be sure to include a space between the first word and the - symbol) to return listings that contain the words programmer but not tester.

**To search using an Optional Word, simply include the optional word with your required search terms (do not use a plus [+] or minus sign [-] with the optional word).
For example: Enter java +programmer javascript (include a space between the first word and the + symbol) to return all listings that contain programmer. Those listings that also contain java or javascript will be returned first.

**To search using a Wildcard, include an asterisk [*] after a word and in place of the letters that you wish to match. An asterisk must appear next to three other letters. Also note that wildcard searches may take longer to return results.
For example: Enter program* to return all applicants with applications that match programming, programmer, and programmable.

Poppers,

It's cool man, no worries. Big of you to apologize. Try the advice some members have given on the site (especially Rysam) and hopefully it will improve your user experience. I see this as a positive lesson learned, and we can all move on and enjoy ICMAG :)
