General Hydroponics, 'Duo"

Guest 18340

Does anybody have any info on this stuff? Or hands on use? Couldn't find anything on their 'site.
The npk's look similar to the flora micro and flora bloom. But without a bottle in my hands I don't know the % of cal, mag, etc.
toohighmf, you seen this stuff around?

Been using for about a month now.. The grow shop gave me a few samples.. It seems to be working great. No complaints what so ever.. I don't have a bottle in hand, but I can get you the %'s tonight once the lights are on...

How does it compare to gh 3 part or Rez's 6/9 recipe. I heard there isn't as much stretch do to multiple sources of nitrogen. Don't know how true that is. I have been asking the grow shop for some input and they havent gotten any feedback from it either. I'm sure there are people using it let's hear some feedback and comparison to flora series.

we have a few threads on this already if you look not to far back, with some info

I've been using it and is working in coco nicely. I don't follow there chart, as I believe I thought it to be to low in Mg or Ca. check the old threads to see the numbers on there recommended recipes

I have never used salts, but it seems to work nicely..

Yup, just read the threads. May give it run sometime soon...

^ check it out some time.. I haven never used there "old" 3 part, but this two part can basically give you any formulation you would desire, only with two parts, unless you use the lucas..

When I called General Hydro a few months ago to discuss nutrients, I got to talk to one of their technical (not marketing) peeps and he told me the 2-part would be coming soon. He said it was simply an easier-to-use replacement for the 3-part (which I have years' worth of, now that I'm starting a compost bin) and that it would also be coming out as a complete kit as well. I have yet to see either show up in my local hydro shop, though.

Note the ratio of NH4:NO3. Seems very high on NH4 compared to most other products. I try to avoid/limit NH4 during flowering (especially the latter half).

Lets look at (NH4) vs. (NO3) levels and the N:Ca ratio in common liquid fertilizers.

Botanicare CNS17 Hydro Grow (3-2-4) (NH4).14% (NO3)2.86% Ca2.8%
20.4X more NO3 than NH4
---
N:Ca = 1:0.93

Botanicare CNS17 Coco Grow (3-1-2) (NH4).14% (NO3)2.86% Ca3.6%
20.4X more NO3 than NH4
---
N:Ca = 1:1.2

Botanicare CNS17 Hydro Bloom (2-2-5) (NH4)0.09% (NO3)1.91% Ca2%
21.2X more NO3 than NH4
---
N:Ca = 1:1

Botanicare CNS17 Coco Bloom (2-2-3) (NH4)0.09% (NO3)1.91% Ca2.5%
21.2X more NO3 than NH4
---
N:Ca = 1:1.25

Cutting Edge Solution Micro (6-0-0) (NH4)0.3% (NO3)5.7% Ca5%
19X more NO3 than NH4
---
N:Ca = 1:0.83

Technaflora BC Boost (3-0-2) Ca3.21% No Ammonium (*N also in other bottle)
No Ammonium
---
N:Ca = 1:0.8

AN Sensi Bloom A (4.3-0-3.1) (NH4)0.1% (NO3)4.2% Ca1.7% (*N also in other bottle)
47.5X more NO3 than NH4
---
N:Ca 1:0.3

AN Sensi Bloom A (2-4-0) Ca2.1% No Ammonium (*N also in other bottle)
No Ammonium
---
N:Ca = 1:0.53

GH Floranova Bloom (4-8-7) (NH4)0.25% (NO3)3.75% Ca4.0%
15X NO3 than NH4
---
N:Ca 1:1

GH Flora Micro (5-0-1) (NH4)0.3% (NO3)4.7% Ca5.0%
15.6X more NO3 than NH4
---
N:Ca = 1:1

And now we come to:

GH FloraDuo Grow (sample) (6-0-6) (NH4)1.9% (NO3)4.1% Ca2.6%
2.16X more NO3 than NH4
---
N:Ca = 1:0.43

This new formula seems very high on NH4, and low on Ca. Its profile is actually very unlike GH's Flora and FloraNova. And it also has the lowest Ca levels of every line except AN (a.k.a. buy my 30 supplements).

elveme,

hows the duo going?

I have some going in coco, but it's my first round with coco.oddly enough I have some bonsai moms that love it, but my coco clones seemed hungry at starting .5 EC, but they see to like higher amounts 1.0 EC. the product seems good so far....

anyone else starting to use this? I also used it in some lettuce plants in a aeroflo2 and seemed good, but the real test is our plants, once I get my sealed room finished, the aeroflo is going back up with floraduo in it....

Still really liking the duo going to stick with it. I haven't had to adjust my PH on any mix when using it and so far so good. I'll post some pics here in a week or two of some ladies and my other additives I am using.

Still have my two "Duo" bottles sitting on the shelf. Haven't had the time to start experimenting yet. Would love to see others' result's before breaking my tried/true nute regimen.:)
