I used to get by when I was running my tent...I doubt it with my room. Power bill got crazy here too in the last 2 months(fuckin smart meters). Depending on where you are you can probably get by with lights on at night with super ventilation...I run a 6 in. inline thinking of going to a 10" for the summer...hopfully no ac will be needed...

If i go venting i will use two 10'' max fans to exhaust the room 2x per minute, and an active intake. I do run my lights at night and i think with that much venting it should be ok. (but august is a biatch) The problem is during the day when lights are out "the outside ambient temps"... will i be able to cool the room just pullin outside air?

I guess theres only one way to find out ehh?

nah it does get too cold during the day...thats the part that sucks...since I run ac during the day in my house I just switch intake to house air and not outside air.

ever since I got a smart meter mines been jumping all over, I've been doing a lot of different things and using a bit more and a bit less here and there but damn I'm getting huge swings in my bill that I honestly cannot account for.

I even went so far as to get a Kill-a-Watt

and I know to the exact watt how much my stuff is using, I cannot account for some electricity, however its kinda hard to have anything checked out by anyone when you're growin. Once I finish I could tear down and have it checked out, but then my usage would drop off dramatically and add to the confusion for any sort of inspector/electrician.




oh and I've got my lights on at night as well, I was just checking my Hygro/Thermometer and I've got my day/night(with lights on) temps within 10 degrees for the max/min. My concern is humidity where I'm at, a tad on the high side.

Ive been fighting high cost of electricity by turning off my veg lights when the bloom light comes on and move my vegging girls under the big bad 1k. I gotta say my plants aregrowing better than they were simply under the T5s by themselves. And im saving some power and lowering heat... Glad we dont have smart meters here
Cant wait til i have an acre i can put a greenhouse up in and veg them big and fat inside and let the big hps in the sky do the rest outside... Ill have to light dep but fuck im on maui i got time to pull over/take down blackout sheets haha

I dont use A/C or co2...
I use a shitload of airflow 24/7...
My flowering room turns on at 7pm and off at 7am...
My veg turns on at 5pm and off at 11am...
When its cold, I close up my room and let the light warm the room up...
When its hot, I open the room up...
The cannabis plant is very adaptable... Look at all the different environments it grows naturally

well I know you guys have higher humidity over there as here in NV its dry, I run a bonaire swamp cooler . you know how hot vegas is in the summer and it never gets over 85, thats with lights on in the day time, thats 3 1000 hps vert , no cool tubes or hoods, 8in exaust through roof. humidity stays at 55 %

Is major extraction enough around here?

I grow in a largish (14x10x9) room but only keep about 4x4 under lights most of the time. A thermostat kicks on a 12" fan (hooked to a canfilter) at 81F and turns it off again at 78F. But with multiple lights the temp at the plant level will still usually be at least a few degrees higher than the outdoor temp. I generally saw +5 degrees in the veg area and 10 degrees plus under HPS. So if you get an 80+ degree evening -- and we do -- even with massive airflow the plants will get warmer than ideal. I just manage these spikes by switching off part of the lights or running A/C just for an hour or two as an emergency precaution if I really don't want to fuck with light cycle.

But yeah, if I can do it, it can be done.

1000w including a fan or filter runs about $120 per light per month. Thats just for 12/12, not including the veg room/clones/veg time under HIDs.

fuck SDG&E.

well if you guys run pass tier 3 or 4 or 5, its 100 - 200 % more on the bills.... especially peak hours ....

i wish i could grow all this shit under the big o sun with out getting in troubles..

one light blasts past the baseline with ease.... and I run mine at night.



edit: I was just looking at my last bill... One light uses ~ 432 kWh in a month of 12/12. (1200w so a 1kw and a fan)

baseline is 293 watts, next bracket is 88 kWh, next is 205 kWh, then I'm at max rates for anything over that.

so by running a 8" carbon filter 24/7 too, I'm at the max tier for kWh, already passing all the baselines, and this is before I even factor in my standard home usage (microwave/TV/lights etc)

ya bro...i wouldnt have believed it if i hadnt seen it myself...i had one plant (valley)vegging and lst'd and i kept it under the red 600 for a week and a half or so...looked horrible, one foot in the grave...put it under the blue light and and in three days she is green and healthy and vigorous...my chems dont seem to be affected nearly that much...but my veg is under 600s not 1000 like krd...the tahoe isnt as sensitive, but that headband is...of course she is the most difficult plant ive dealt w in awhile...but boy is she worth it!
