Oh and BTW. He doesnt need your permission to go inside of his house. Just a good excuse. Maybe not even that.

Not True, And the locks should have been changed first day they got the keys.

This is common sense, read your tenant laws.

Guess it depends state to state...

very few landlords / management companies in CA would be down with this. I changed my lock on my apartment for a small 2k grow in one of the bedrooms, landlord insisted many times i give him a copy of the key. Finally gave him a copy of one of the locks and changed the other and a month later he insisted on having both.

Put yourself in their shoes as the landlord. If ANY sort of shit goes down in that place its ultimately their ass on the line. Read my signature man. Uncle Sam decides he needs a new place to live, I dont think hes gonna give 2 shits whether the landlord hosting the grow or whether Jesus himself came down to make it so. THIS IS HOW YOUR LANDLORD IS GOING TO VIEW THIS. I have owned several properties and have had even more roommates than I care to imagine. Unless your landlord is a med patient and a fellow grower, chances are he isnt going to want that shit going down at his place.

Did you use the EXACT same lock as was there before? If it looks stock then the only way the landlord would know is if he tried to enter your premises.
Then you got one nosy landlord and need to move anyway.

I just went through this a few weeks ago. I may be fully legal, but that doesn't mean I get to do anything I want in a rented house, and I wouldn't blame any landlord for being upset. I immediately started culling plants so that I could move/hide what was left. The agent never did come over to show the house, but we ended up moving anyways. Whole lot of stress I just didn't need, and I lost one mother and almost lost my best two

Get them to commit to a specific time and day to show the place.

Rent a U-haul.

Run a power cord to the u-haul to power an air pump for your buckets and maybe a fan/filter.

If you can't run a cord..... get a power inverter and do it that way.

Finish the grow and move to a location that isn't on the market.... preferably something that you own.

I thought about this, and knowing he would be suspicious, I told him the key broke off in the lock so I replaced the lock with a smartkey type where you can reset the lock to any key. I gave him a key to the lock, and then reset the smartlock to a different key.

HE DID TRY TO COME IN WHEN I WASN'T THERE!!!

I ended up moving out.

say your roomate is engaging in crazy dominatrix sex acts in the basement and that "i highly recommend you dont go in there"...mention something about chains and ropes, and maybe pay your friend to emerge from the room in a gimp suit. :"THAT WAS FUN!!..whoa hey there landlord!"......

im really serious my roomate used this excuse on our landlord when he was right at the door to our grow a few years ago.....the landlord said..."OK, but i will need to inspect the room next month...." and he got out of there pretty quickly hahaha..

Yea, but you're in the Bay Area. Lots of pervs there so much more believable there.
