From a medicinal standpoint though, wouldn't using a second solvent to remove the waxes degrade the effectiveness of the medicine as some terpenes contain benefits such as Antidepressant, Antiinflammatory, AChE inhibitor, etc?

I understand the smoking fatty substances standpoint but, lets say assuming we have BHO that is tested to have an extremely minute/no amount of butane, would the benefits of the terpenoid benefits outweigh the cost of smoking minute amounts of fatty substances?

Not trying to bash I am just trying to understand every aspect. Thanks for any input!!!

i agree with you there. thats why i try to make sure my bho smells and tastes as true to the material that i used as possible.

now as far as where the terpenoids are actually contained in the oil, I haven't researched that far. I do know that if you leave oil on a heating pad too long, or over too a heat source that is too hot, it will degrade the smell and the thc.

what are the plant waxes that you say are left in the oil that need to be purged? how did you separate these other fats and waxes from the thc medicalgreen?

Minute amounts of fatty substances means minute risk of oil pneumonia.
Fortunately, there is no evidence of finding the terpenes in wax, why do you think that?
But there is evidence that terpenes do not disappear with the secondary dissolution in ethanol.
I do know that if you leave oil on a heating pad too long, or over too a heat source that is too hot, it will degrade the smell and the thc.
It is true, the long exposure of heated resin in air accelerates the oxidation and causes degradation of THC-CBN,
but this fact does not contradict the benefits of double extraction,
which removes residual butane quickly, efficiently and with fewer losses.

Imagine, :)
Your extract will be remarkably clear, homogeneous, without bubbles and wax dirt, while maintaining great flavor ..

I don't know for sure where the terpenoids hide in the plant either, but once the oil is extracted, I'm guessing that it is way better than even odds that they are evenly mixed with the cannabinoids, since they are all aromatic terpenoids.

The plant waxes on the other hand, are not aromatic terpenoids and the reason that freezing the oil allows their filtration, is that they coagulate and clump together, where the terpenoids do not in an alcohol solution.

I can not consider myself a good expert in the field of flavors.
In addition, I used to not trust the descriptions of the taste, odor, and psycho-action.
This is a very subjective assessment, depending on the person and the context.
The technology is very simple and does not propose the use of hazardous substances.
Worth a try do it yourself to make the right decision.

So let me ask you this. How does the second solvent make the product taste? Will it still have a strain specific taste?

Yes, it just won't be as pronounced.

The oil will also be smoother on the lungs when vaporized and it has less bitter after taste when taken orally.

If you are seeking an explosion of flavors vaporizing oil, I have found nothing providing more of them than a fresh frozen BHO extraction, washed with ethanol.

The single word used most often by panel members to describe the taste was "fresh."

Okay good to know. I plan on doing this method when I can get fresh picked material. I tried one of your decarboxylated BHO runs once and it was lovely :)

So I finished my last run of Shake and the results came out lovely again. Just did a few things differently again to gauge differences between changes in techniques. Came out to a nice hard taffy this time. not quite as floral as the second run, but much smoother throughout the hit I believe.

The budder also came out better than I expected. It took a while and I thought it wasn't going to, but it flipped the switch on me pretty fast haha. Came out to be like "taffy-budder". It's really pliable like play-doh! The taste is very good with a bit of citrus/kush/pine taste, and a very mellow smoke, but I still like me some taffy/shatter!!!!! The last three pictures are the newest runs.
