One strain dominating at co-ops in SoCal

it's from oaksterdam nursery so it's super easily accessible, i got a cut last year and still keep it around, it's great stuff when grown right imho

It is literally EVERYWHERE. Got tired of it pretty fast, but grown correctly it is fire.

I dunno about 'fire' but it's DAMN good if grown by a skilled hand. Since what most people grow is crap, especially those trying to cash crop totally disregarding quality, it's not hard to grow something standout but regardless BD IME can be wonderful smoke.

One day I walked into a co-op and they had it. The next day, they had it in clone form. The next day my friend offered it to me. The day after that, it was in every club I went into. The next day, every one of my friends had it and was offering it to me. the day after that, all I ever heard was Blue Dream this, and Blue Dream that.
I never saw a strain explode across the state or US so fast. I'm glad I never took it.

I grew Blue Dream for a few cycles and usually chopped her at the 9.5-10 week range. Yes, she's a producer. Yes, she smells nice. Yes, she finishes nice and "frosty". But even with those characteristics, I thought that the high/buzz/stone was mediocre. I was expecting more.

OG Kush varieties are most popular in the far south of Cali..
up in norcal its OGs all day. I went into one club they had Luie 13th OG, charlie sheen og, tahoe og, presidential og, fire og, ****** og, obama og, and diablo og all as there top shelfs. they all smelled similar, I couldnt pick which one to get cuz they were all so close to each other i was stuck. Im sure a couple of um were the exact same strain.

You think Blue dream is everywhere? what about "platnum og!" Shit's everywhere! I can picture myself ordering that at the club with my pinky in the corner of my mouth and with a buttler accent: I'll take some PLATNUM OG please! I'm surprised theres peep's out there that are still into Bluedream! like stated above, "mediocer smoke" My Alien Og is killing that shit 10 times over! It's just super easy to grow with a high yeild and a catchy name! I got friends that are in gangs, crip gangs to be specific..... and they smoke it purely because of the name "Blue" dream! It just sounds good, but to a more connoisseur kinda smoker.... It's ahight.... In my neck of the woods, " if you got bluedream, everybody always wants a deal!" You'ed be lucky to get it off for 3!
Only thing worse than the Blue Dream that seems overpopulated to me is the Blackberry Kush. If anyone has ever gotten medicated off Blackberry Kush, please let me know.
To me, Blackberry Kush is the perfect strain to demonstrate that looks and smell tell you nothing about medical qualities. It is a little annoying to see high quality dispensaries stocking this stuff and selling it for top-shelf prices to boot.

^^^ i have not tried an impressive batch of blackberry kush, but i have seen it tons of places. the blue dream that i would see often, was always OK but never great, the one i've been running is a bit better than OK imho but as far as sativa action it doesn't seem to last a very long time in effect, i build a tolerance to it quickly too i feel, it is nice smoke and does give that haze effect but it is short lived, the few times i grew it well the smell was amazing as well as the taste, just blue jolly rancher in your face, the effect is just a 3.25 on a scale of 1~5 (5 being the highest) imho. if i ever wanted to cash crop, the smell and frosty sugar covered look alone would probably command a decent price, i haven't seen or smelled any in the shops that had as much sugar and as strong of a smell as the cut that crossed my path, yet
I am right there with you FV, the BBK is a 10 in smell 10 in bag appeal 10 in taste and 3 in high and stone. That being said MANY social smokers prefer her because they don't want a huge mind bending high. We were discussing this strain over 420 and the consensus among daily smokers was BBK is like NON ALCOHOLIC beer (what's the point).
Blue Dream is not too popular with heavy smokers for the same reason.
Just saw 15 pounds of this stuff two days ago, person has had it for over six months and can't move it because of all of it in the clubs. It was offered to me at a really low price, I had to pass.
i like some of the ogs and kushes, man a straight hindu kush is one of my favorite indicas personally, as far as og, some of it can be pretty amazing, i was gifted some 818 og variant that was simply fabulous, pain in the butt to grow and crap yield, but straight up fire for sure, oh man i miss that one, we did an island bud cross with it that had this amazing floral aroma/flavor that i've never tasted before too *sigh* we never made clones and it's gone now
on another note, i have been puffing some blue satellite 2.2, it is blue but very soft and delicate, like a polar opposite to the jolly rancher in your face blue of the blue dream, there's no more of the blue satellite either, damn thing got stunted and molded up so quick, that's one thing that the blue dream was better about was mold resistance for sure

Or 95% of what makes it to D's is not grown well. If you know the right group of growers you'll only see poor cannabis as a joke, warning, or learning opportunity. And when you create it or a friend shows it to you, there is a laugh and then you throw it into the trim bag collecting in the freezer. Poor grown crap makes OK hash.
OG>everything else, at least in regards to 'dominating' cali co op menu's.
