not an easy question for a german , we´ve got so many different kinds of beer.

hey guys ,i am also from germany but my taste differs from hermans...
i only drink heineken oud bruin , a wonderful sweet and caramel flavoured beer ,,,only 2.5% alcohol ...but this is ok for me..i dont like the heavy effects of alcohol ..this beer is asmooth trip ..with awonderful taste ..goes hand in hand with joints hmmm...in these days i like the dutch beer more than the weed they export hrhr http://dan.romascanu.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Heineken-Oud-Bruin.jpg

Well Heinecken is very delicous too. I never forget, it was 1981, i was tramping with my girlfriend to Amsterdam, it was summer and i was very thirsty, i´ve ordered a Heinecken an i would never forget the fresh, cold taste. But at normaly the dutch drink beer from thimbles .

Another delicous beer i never forget was the israeli beer

i was drinking it often in israel but one time after i was swimming in the dead sea, i bought an ice cold one and enjoyed it very much.

St. Pauli Girl Beer is another nice memory, by the way the St. Pauli Girls didn´t look like the girl on the picture, the girl got bavarian clothes an bavaria is only a smal but imortant part of germany. St. Pauli Girl Beer was the first beer i was drinking in the united states. I was reading about it in germany and it was my wish to taste it, if i come to the states. I bought a bottle at the times square, said to the guy at the shop,: No, I don´t want a brown paper bag. The guy said that i have to drink beer only with a paper bag in public. I wasn´t 5 meters out of the shop, as a cop told me the same!

It also says to call them on their bottle labels. I did and complimented them on a fine product at a reasonable price. I like the Little Sumpin and the Little Sumpin Wild which are available locally here (Midwest) for $4.00 a bomber. I spoke to someone about beer there for about 10 minutes and they seemed happy for the call.

There 6-packs are $7.99 here also. They are a couple bucks cheaper than other CA craft beers (Bear Republic, Stone, ect) and about the same price as Sierra Nevada. We don't their full product line in 6-packs though.

I study in České Budějovice, so it is also my favourite beer, mainly because it is a little bit sweet and that´s what I like.

IMO the best beer in the whole wide world! Sinebrychoff Porter. The almost black and very strong tasting beer goes extremely well with a big fat joint. You can taste coffee, a little bit of chocolate, a very creamy and malty aroma!

Sierra Nevada just released their 2011 version of Bigfoot and what a mouthful it is. A yearly ritual for me as is their Fall released Celebration Ale.

Nice ^^ .... i spent most of my youth drinking SN pale ale's ....we all used to love that & Anchor steam.... i also used to love the Celebration ale & Steams Christmas ale when they came around each year(seasonal goodness)....now the Bigfoot you mentioned was always to heavy for me...but some of my homies loved it....

Havn' drinkn' all those microbrews in the late 80's....it's nice to hear others still propn' them

Red Racer ~ India Pale Ale is my new favorite beer. Its brewed in British Columbia but you can find it in most liquor stores that carry speciality beers. Its one of the best IPA's I have ever had. It has a strong hop/pine tree/ tropical fruit aroma that fills the room, the taste matches the smell with a strong lingering hops/conifer tree and light sweet notes of mango and pineapple. It pours an amazing rich golden color with an exceptional head and has a smooth creamy dry mouth feel. A top notch IPA that was brewed with the best ingredients and care. I recommend this beer to anyone looking for a superior IPA.

Can't say as I've heard of it. Of course, there is no reason for the macro sized breweries not to have twist-off caps except marketing.

Actually, you'll be seeing more and more of it. It's by far the best way to protect the beer and contrary to some school of thought, it does not adversely effect the flavor of the beer. It's cheaper, faster and 'greener' for the breweries. It keeps light out, which does effect the flavor of beer as it's stored.. especially clear and green bottles. It's also way cheaper for a brewery to ship pallets of empty cans than it is to ship pallets of bottles. It also saves on shipping costs of the final product on it's way to it's destination. It's way faster to can beer than it is to bottle it. More and more micros are seeing this and it is the latest trend in micro beers. I must admit I have had a bias towards it, but it's totally unfounded as far as the flavor of the product.

Yeah main thing light does is degrade the hop compounds. I only buy beer in brown bottles but still have a hard time with cans yet do see more and more micros in cans and can understand some of the advantages.

The other thing is once you filter beer and package it the beer starts to degrade (die) and that's why it's important to get fresh beer. It's another reason I stick with certain brands and even types within that brand cause I know that stock is rotating regularly. That's one of the reasons I like bottle conditioned beer, like most Sierra Nevada brews, because it lasts longer because it is alive.
