For me I just thought it sounded like it was to complicated, and to much work for your average piggy.

I saw a few pics of how it was set up, I'd say it took maybe 5 or 10 mins to install what was in there:

The 2 wires supplying power and the antenna one snaking around the base secured by white silicone making it look like being a sealant.

No clue if it was 5/0 or a ripper.

And I am glad Tom did not get a chance to find out.

This is totally believeable !The owner I love Hypoponics in Richmond Va. was busted with1200 plants and has setup over 13 customers and 1 friend of mine. He used craigslist to sell new & used equipment. My friend and his wife drove to Richmond and met the dude at his house.Within 5 min of walking in there new dreadlock wearing friend offered them a joint ,after burning with this guy he fed them lunch and talk about cutivating maryjane,my friend started bragging about his strains and grow-op.After a six month investigation the feds were brought in because my friend had grow-ops in Va & West Va, they placed a GPS device on his truck and found all his shit! Dont be a cheap ass buy new equipment and dont brag about your shit to anyone especially a fucking stranger! Beware of Craigslist! PEACE! Oh yeah my boy lost his house and has got 2 more years to go out of a 5 year sentance.Will try to post a copy of court papers.

hello, i would be very interested in hearing more of this story if you could elaborate. You say that brian was busted with over 1200, when did this happen and why didnt he go to federal prison and have his shop taken? did it happen in rva? on another site a thread mentioned how the dea actually has a siezed house adjacent to the shop with a camera pointed at it.

i know of instances where people that have shopped there were busted because police went digging in their back dumpster for receipts( i actually saw court documents and papers for these.)

Your boy lucked out. Virginia it's 5-30 regardless of plant count. I've seen people get a month for a freaking roach in this stupid ass state.
Be careful of Craigslist. There is a guy who tries to sell grow lights on the DC Craigslist. He's in PG County, MD. over by Andrews Air Base. Claims in his ads that he found the lights when he moved into the house. Yea right.
EDIT: DC Hydro up in Rockville, Md is very HOT!!!! Stay far away. Rumors the past couple of years are they work with the police 100%.

Once I find a copy of the court papers will scan and post. He didnt got to prison because he been busy settn people up with Va state police!

I don't doubt this for a second. It's really scary. Nothing these days would surprise me. LEO/Rippers will use extreme measures to make your life/grow miserable.

I usually buy most of my grow equipment from a local shop, really really nice guys. They mind their own business and don't ask any questions. Pay in cash, and leave. They've not once asked me what I'm growing, where I grow, the setup, etc. They did however have a long talk with me on how to setup your own DIY hydro.

It is perfectly legal for LEO to do what the TS stated. They have done plenty of things that are just as crazy. Including staking out grow shops and tagging cars of people coming in and out to see where they are taking their equipment. Don't underestimate LEO.

OP never said or even implied who did it beyond saying it was someone off of craigslist. All he did was present facts.

Because of the detailed description of the mod, the claim to have seen pictures of it, the apparent reputation of the OP on this board and the lack of a reason to make such a thing up leads me to believe this is true.

It sounds more like rippers to me though. I don't see why people would have trouble seeing why someone would do this. I'm assuming all one would have to do is log the 12/12 cycle of the GPS being powered up, and count down the days. They could just case the location for the last week and then do their thing.
