Fungus Gnat inquiry

Im at war with the lil fuckers at the moment, but have seen some things out of the norm.....

I have treated my soil with azamax and have spread DE on the tops of my pots. I have not seen a new adult stuck to a trap in a week, however I do see a large number of pupae stuck. Come to think of it that is the only thing I am seeing stuck to the traps..

Any ideas? Have I knocked the hell outta the lil bastards for good?

My room is clean with no decaying plant matter or standing water.

Azadirachtin (i.e. Azamax, Azatrol) will not KILL the pupae, so to speak, but stop their life-cycle development process and starve them little fuckers to death.

No new adults, Good! The war is being won, day by day.
If you are feeling that paranoid, just drop a P-bomb for good measure. It will get everything else in the room that is superficial.

I wish I could use P-Bombs, Im only a 1 light guy in a 4x4 tent. Hopefully one of these days I can grow up a lil bit and get a multi lighter goin.

Just kinda weirded out that I only see pupa on the traps and no adults. How did the fuckers get on the traps without wings?

I have sticky traps at the tops of the pots, on the runoff dishes and on the floor. They are all only catching pupa at this point.

But yeah... how did they get onto the traps at different levels? I thought the eggs were laid ontop of the soil.

I forgot to mention I am using airpots.

Just a thourght, but you might have thrips, coz their larve can jump and crawl all over the plants,so may thats why they are in the traps. But good luck in dealing with them.:tiphat:

Thanks Dan for the concern, However I am pretty damn sure they are gnats. I never saw an adult bug other than fungus gnats in this grow. Another reason I am sure they arent thrips is because I have yet to see any leaf damage.

DE works just fine for me...sounds like the problem is being taken care of as we speak quite honestly. Not certain how long uve been applying the de, but it wud usually take a few dustings before i noticed any noticable decline in the lil cockmongers...so now on my new perpetual run im doin, i just started dusting everything from the getgo (once a week i dust). Let it get worked/watered down into the soil and ull be fine.

The first time I applied the DE I dusted the tops of my soil with it. I then had to water and I cant bottom feed (airpots) so after I watered I caked it on there quite heavily. You cant even see the soil, just DE. I plan to vacuum up all the DE when I need to water again (this time with dunks implemented).

Im still in veg right now. 3 days away from the 1 month mark to be exact. I really have no desire to flip until I have these lil fuckers in check, being this small grow is my only source of income at the moment.
