i dotn think they will be able to hold all my wieght... they talking about 165 pounds at center... on a 10 x10 thats 6k of magnums at 33 pounds which is 200 in light not to mention 2 fans and filter... how much weight does these things really hold/??

Not that much I would imagine. You would need a TIG welder or maybe just a spare bedroom.

You can always mount brackets in studs to support hundreds and hundreds of pounds :D

whats the point of a big tent then that cant handle the wieght of just the hoods?

That doesn't seem right. I could see not holding a filter but no hoods would be crazy.

Maybe they're trying to force ppl to go vert:biggrin:

My DR150 holds a filter, fan, and two hoods so I would think the same engineers could come up with a functioning framework.

I know that longer lengths are difficult to support though.

My hoods aren't as heavy either.

I have a couple of answers for you. I have been using a Grow Lab 80 for quite a while, and like it a lot. I wanted to add another tent, and after lots of research (and talking to the sales people at Grener's), I bought a Secret Jardin DR120 II. I just got it assembled, so these are some preliminary impressions. As everyone probably expected, they each have their own good points. If the SJ now has thicker material, it must have been really thin before. I think that the material on the GL is heavier than even the improved version of the SJ, and there is no comparison between zippers. Unfortunately, I think that the combination of the material and the zipper is about 90%+ of what makes up a tent. On the remaining 10%, I think the SJ has a definite edge. For instance, the light-proofing socks on the SJ are double, meaning that the same port has both an inner and an outer sock. I haven't had any light leak problems with a single sock in the past, but it is a nice touch. There are more ports on the SJ, but the tents are different sizes so I'm not sure if that is a valid comparison. The framework is steel rather than the aluminum on the GL, and appears quite a bit more stout. The corners are vastly improved, although again, I have had no problems with the corners on the GL. There are only (3) top slider bars with the SJ where the GL has (4), even though it is a smaller tent. Supposedly the weight-bearing of the SJ is less than the GL, but I don't understand why that would be when the frame and corners are appreciably heavier. I don't like the door on SJ anywhere near as well as the GL - it is over twice as big and, combined with the funky zipper, is comparatively much harder to get open and closed. The manner in which the tent is assembled over the framework on the SJ is interesting - you open it up and hang the top over the frame, then work the bottom under the framework and zip it up. The top and the sides are integral, and only the bottom opens up. It works quite well if you are doing it with a substantial amount of room around it, but I think it would be a bitch in a tight area. The GL, on the other hand, opens up a lot further. When open, it has the top, bottom and sides all pretty well opened up flat. I assembled mine in a small bathroom on top of a bathtub which I had put a plywood floor on top of for the tent, so the back and one side were inaccessible. It was a chore with the GL, but there is no way in hell I could have done it with the SJ. Another thing that I noticed is that the GL tent fits the framework much tighter than the SJ does. It is tight enough that when I built a panel for the electrical components to hang on, it took some effort to get the tie-wraps between the side posts and the tent. The SJ fits quite loosely, and you can stick your whole hand between the post and the tent. I think that the tight fit of the GL lends support to the framework, making in appreciably more stable and resistant to racking. In summary, at this point I think that Grow Lab has the edge, but I haven't started using the Secret Jardin yet.

I have a GL120 And find it to be very sturdy. Holds 100 Lbs which is about what I have hanging from it. Also, the worry about pin hole leaks is overkill. The small pinhole leaks are inevitible and cause me no harm what so ever. As long as there no big leaks, nothing will be affected. At least that has been my experience with my GL120.

I bought a 5x5 for $158 on Amazon last week. It has mesh vents and 2 windows in additional to the main door. I'll post some pics and a review when I get it setup. I think it was Sky brand, not sure.

So I got the "sky enterprise" tent this week and set it up...

pros:
*cheap
*thick mylar material
*2 windows
*3 vents

cons:
*vents let light in, or you can put the cover on them and block air from getting through (this alone would have made me buy a different tent honestly)
*zippers and edges let light out
*door has 1 zipper and it stretches around 3/4 of the tent from the bottom (major inconvenience)
*nothing included to mount an exhaust fan on (name brand tents come with something as far as I know)
*non-existent directions/nightmare setup with limited space

Really you get what you pay for which is sad because this would be an awesome tent if it wasn't designed by monkeys. If you just can't afford the extra $200 on a name brand tent an eBay/Amazon tent should do fine just make sure it has plenty of ventilation...I almost bought one that only had 2 vent holes and both were up top (should be 2 below and 1 up top at least).
