Ok guys....I did it. I ran 50g of sick trim and casey. Smoke report.... Fantabulous. Really puts my last qwiso run to shame! I had fun start to finish but especially liked whipping into wax. I could just tell that it was all gonna be worth it when I puffed it .... & it really was.

sticking weed in a tube and runing solvent thru it isnt SCFE at all. works well though, i agree.

Seemed pretty safe to me. Not like I was smoking out in a closet doing it. I did my extraction outside with a nice breeze. Are you referring to health safe? I could stand to be educated if that's the issue...

What he is saying is: that the process you, and most of us, use doesn't reach the proper temp and pressure to put the 'tane in its super-critical state. We are achieving a sub-critical fluid at best. More likely a butane wash, even.
But, since many of the flavors and other goodies are lost at the higher temperatures (and maybe pressures, no definitive research on that yet, I think?), this works better for the end product than SCF extraction seems to (based on testimony of colorado growers attending the HT Disp Cup).

Poison is in the dosage! Oxygen will kill you dead at 75% atmosphere.
The caveats against copper appear to be related to fume fever, which is an industrial disease that welders get from welding copper with inadequate breathing protection, or to copper sufate, commonly used to kill moss and other living organisims.
I use copper, glass, and stainless interchangeably, but pay attention to cleanliness.
So as to keep things into perspective, copper is non reactive with either butane or cannabis oil and is used in our water piping , as well as other critical food applications.
As long as the copper surface is bright and clean, it makes a supreme extractor, and one of the cheapest to assemble.
Copper is relatively easy to keep clean, so if you pay attention to details, it may be your next to cheapest solution.
The cheapest without the bells and whistles is glass, as we have borosilicate columns made for $1 an inch of length, plus $5 to close one end and flare the other.
With a copper union to aid in cleaning, a 1" copper column starts with a $20 disadvantage, regardless of length. Without that disadvantage, it is probably the cheapest.
I like copper, because even cold you can beat on it to clear the spent material, while you can't with glass.
300 series stainless steel is what I used for our butane recycling system, as it requires less maintenance to keep clean.
It is all good, but you have to pay more attention to some........

Lol...that would be interesting. I sure dig the product that came from my run...The tube worked well...as well as the stand. I must say I am way stoned now & already looking forward to my next run. On with it. Anymore input would be appreciated. Has anyone tried any extra purging techniques? I've heard a small bit here and there about Vac Purge. Anyone....Anyone....Bueler?
