Hey all, :tiphat:

With reactors 1 and 3 no longer being able to be worked on by man or machine... it is only a matter of time before the stored rods in their pits become a problem. This problem will be exponentially worse than what we have going on now. Once this happens it won't be possible to get anyone in range of the other reactors either.

Are we going to be stuck with peat as a growth medium? Cannabis is a fantastic bio-accumulator of heavy metals (the particles coming from Japan) so any medium we use will concentrate the radioactive particles into our meds.

Coco is out since it just sits outdoor for a year or two to condition it and any new coco will be grown with higher levels of radiation than before.

We've already poisoned the planet with enough radiation that 1 out of every 2 males in Canada have cancer(Edit: Will likely GET cancer in their lifetime). The U.S. is currently around 1 in 4. That was before Fukushima.

This is heading toward making cancer a nearly 100% probability in anyone's lifetime on the planet.

You just can't make this shit up. *sigh*

Any suggestions?

You must get your facts from wikipedia cuz i find that hard to believe. I dont think theres to much to worry about, lotta miles across the pacific

Im glad i live at the bottom of the world.. Although i guess the winds eventually bring radiation to everyone no matter how far away..

Does this really belong in this forum?

It seems you don't belong in this thread. I remember something about "Serious" being mentioned in the title.

Seriously... Anyone with actual helpful information?

edit: Yes Blaze... it's unfortunate that these particles, same as all the others throughout history, will disperse around the globe. Northern Hemisphere first and eventually Southern with a lower amount of accumulation.

i'm no scientist but from what i've read radiation does distribute itself around the world tho in lesser quantities than the origin of it. To this day the explosion of chernobyl in 86 has left traces of radiation all over the world. with enough radiation, other parts of the world would definetely be affected. I just don't know to what degree japan's radiation release is but it doesnt look good and they wont tell. we will know in years to come from the affects. All i can say is fuck humanity and its stupid science. we were given a world that worked and now stupid people are going to kill us all and make life shit.

Most people have more to worry about the hps in the sky for rad exposure.
radiation- particles from the visible light to nuetrons the stuff that we have to worry about is degenerative it hits organic matter and knocks out portions of dna, and destroys cell walls at some levels.
radioactive- bananas (potassium isotope), plutonium, uranium, etc
An interesting thing is the processing of phospate (phosphorus used in nutes) creates large slag piles of radioactive gypsum as waste. We are reaching the phosphate peak and will deplete the worlds supply very soon.

plutonium, uranium and other isotopes can produce dust that when ingested is extremely damaging because it cant be easily chelated out of the body, and radiates inside the body.

We want to avoid build up of isotope particles in the enviroment.

The process usually goes radioactive dust falls out on grass, cow eats grass, radioactive particles cocentrates in milk in the form of iodine, people drink milk, radioactive iodine destroys your peoples thyroid.

I disagree, we need nuclear power and we need cancer. NO cancer, no medical marijuana. There are 6.7 billion people on the planet today with an estimated 1.159% growth rate, figures, both of which will increase to 10 billion and whatever percentage in the near future. Maybe we should have survival bunker forums instead of dope forums, like where you can get the most efficient personal hygiene set for when society breaks down. Just as the criminal justice system could not sustain itself without petty offenses and petty crimes against unintelligent, uninformed citizens, it needs to be realized that nuclear power is the most confined riot in the this bottle we do exist. Just like the cocaine cartels.

we have options now and japans nuclear accident isnt the first, 3 mile island and a much worse Chernobyl.

what about all the testing the us govt has done in developing the hydrogen / atomic bombs and then using them.

where did you get your stats regarding rate of cancer in north america?

you didnt just make shit up did ya? *sigh*

im sure ill get a Neg Rep b/c i disagree with your post but is there really any danger for those of us in n. america?

i say its hype and fear but thats my opinion.

Tell em to plant plenty of weed: That's what the Russians did at Chernobyl.

Hemp has been shown to "eat" radioactivity at Chernobyl. Hemp is proving to be one of the best phyto-remediative plants in the world. These plants have the ability to decontaminate soil by absorbing and/or trapping pollutants ranging from radiation and pesticides to solvents and toxins leaching from landfills.

i sure as serious as this thread should be,im sure we have more than just coco or peat for growing cannabis to worry about and like what was said earlier before this happened there has and still after will be many more acidents, tests and god knows what happening with nuculer power.why threat now

Bahhh, Give me a brake... I love a Good talk about the cancer and the earth ending, but Comon man.

You don't think 1 in every 2 males get cancer due to All the chems used in every day products? or plastic bottles?

I am in Central Canada, and the chance of me getting Radiation is veryyyyyyyyyyyyyy low but cancer verrry high. hmmm weird.

Even after the Chernobyl disaster, today there are trees and plants living in the affected area. Nature is resilient.....it just takes time.

You have far more to worry about from a commercial flight. The major contaminant you'd worry about is glowy cesium, which can partially substitute for potassium (but just fertilizing with potassium eliminates this problem) There has been some really interesting research into these issues in the bikini atoll. Adults pick up next to zero iodine, it's the kids drinking milk from glowing cows you have to worry about. However there won't be an cesium released on a wide scale, wrong type of nuke.

I would be FAR FAR more worried about the mercury, cadmium and lead that are VERY common contaminants in organic fertilizers. If you want contaminated soil just fertilize with guano and fish meal for a few years.

Do you fly?

guano contaminates dirt? that sound crazy as the radioactive soil

so your saying that feeding with gh would be less "toxic" than guano?
bats been shittin on dirt a pretty long time..

I'm saying if you want to keep your soil "clean" you need to be careful what you put into it. Most guanos/meals/etc tend to concentrate all the nastiness that an animal eats into a compact package. There are plenty of very good organic fertilizers, but there are plenty that are awful. Do your research and know what you're putting into your soil.

Below are a few registered guanos. You'll notice a very wide range of heavy metal contents. How you process your guano/meal and where and how you collect it has a lot to do with how much metal ends up in the final product. Some companies care, some obviously don't.
