Ok so here is what I have done so far.


Outdoor 2011 Grow Log
1) 3/15
a. Got 2 Mendo Purps clones and a DJ Short Blueberry clone(This was a surprise from a friend)

b. Both have been in 1 gal grow bag(coco) since 1/10 and are in need of TLC
c. Have my 12’x12’ grow area scoped and have been soaking for 2 days

d. Each of 9 plants get a 4’x4’ area
e. Holes will be dug approx. 2’6” – 3’ deep and 2’ diameter.
f. Found a bag of Miracle Grow Organic soil I plan to mix with the coco and very little native soil.
g. Native soil is mostly silt and clay
2) 3/16
a. 16oz of water each this morning
b. Noticed spider webs covering the whole BB plant and cleaned them off
c. Put a weak ass light in the bathtub with the 3 girls due to rain
d. Got the 1”x4” little boarder around the grow area

e. Dug all weeds out of surface area
f. Lightly tilled the soil but needs to soak
g. Ready to dig grow holes
3) 3/18
a. Transplanted from 1gal grow bags to 1 gal planters
b. Mixed in Miracle Grow Organic(The bag found around the house mentioned above.)
c. Looked weak after the transplant but haven’t been fed since I got them
4) 3/19
a. Picked up:
i. 4 bags of Black Gold – Organic Potting Soil – 2 Cu Ft each - $14 each

ii. Mexican Bat Guano – 1Lb - $7

iii. Espoma Garden Lime – 5Lbs - $5

iv. Happy Frog Steamed Bone Meal – 4Lbs $9

v. Perlite – 8 Dry Qts $5

vi. Worm Castings $12

vii. Cocotek $11

viii. Two 5 gal doses of tea compost $0

Any advice is welcomed with open ears/eyes.

Tomorrow should be going to Home Depot to get the:
Chicken Manure
Blood Meal
Mulch
Minimal Gardening tools
Chicken Wire/Something suitable for keeping all types of animals out(mostly cags and german shepards that we own)

Am I missing anything guys? I live far from where these supplies are sold at. I hope I do this right.

5) 3/20 - Sun
a. Got the rest of the soil mixture:

6) 3/21 – Mon
a. Found old bathtub on property.

Washed it out and bleach it out because who knows what is growing on it. Made 1 batch of Don Saucy’s Super Soil(LMAO – Took a little bit of different sources and made mine to work with my environment.) With the help of a handy friend we lifted the tub onto 2 large dog kenels and propped the side without the drain as to allow drainage. I am going to do 1 of 2 things with the run off of the soil for the next 2 weeks:
i. Keep pouring it back on the soil
ii. Keep it as a concentrate for when watering the plants.
iii. Any suggestions on this? Or how wet to keep my soil for the next 2 weeks?
b. Sprinkled a little of everything from Don Saucy’s Super Soil on the top of each plant, mixed it in the top 1”-2” then gave each plant 1/2gal of water. Drink up Girls, this has been your first food since 3/14 – Mon.
7) 3/22 – Tue
a. Went and got a few of my indoor supplies from storage because the weather is supposed to be horrible and not transplant to ground friendly.
i. 150W HPS
ii. 2 fans
iii. Airpump(keep runoff from soil from going bad)
iv. Ghetto ass top feed/drip system
v. Nutrients(in-case I want a hydro plant going at all times)
vi. Oh yeah and the most important tool, what’s left from my old 3 perc bong that was only 18” tall. It was a champ.
b. Checked on the soil when I got home at 6 this evening. Wow that retains a lot of water. I’m kinda of worried it retains too much water. In 24 hours I have only got 5 gals of runoff(this could be because my helpful friend flooded it on accident???).Could this be because I have a bathtub full of soil and its only source of drainage is a 1 ½” holt at one end?

8) 3/23 – Wed
a. Gave the girls a 150W HPS light for 18 hours a day since the weather is keeping them indoors for now.

9) 3/24 – Thur
a. The girls have been in a bathtub since I have had them so today I built a poor mans impromptu grow tent. Helped a lot with my low temp problems. I was running from 55-60 now I got it up to 65-70.
b. Added a fan to the mix.
c. Added a Sun System light pulley for making life a lot easier. I recommend this product.

10) 3/26 – Sat
a. The 2 Mendo Purp girls are starting to look better and showing some promising new growth.
b. BB is still looking sickly but I think I see new growth but that could just be wishful thinking.
c. A friend pointed me to a local collective that has some beautiful and healthy clones so we went to check it out. I ended up leaving with 6 total which happened to be the total I was looking for.

d. I have 4” pots that I have coco in that is being pretreated with nutrients for transplanting. I will be using a GH feeding schedule until they are strong enough to be safe in the soil.

11) 3/27 – Sun
a. Finally no rain for the first time in almost a week. Took advantage of this.
b. Got down and dirty with my grow area. I have 7, 20 gal holes dug so far.
c. Pretreated some coco last night with nutes for transplanting my new girls.
d. Had to custom make a hole pattern for the ghetto ass Walmart 4” pots I got.

e. Tested the leakage and was satisfied.
f. Transplanted from plastic cups to the new and improved Walmart 4” pots.

g. Right before lights out I peeked at them to say goodnight and they look much happier with their new 4” homes instead of plastic cups.

h. Oh yeah and just ordered some seeds, nothing crazy since I am still a noob, but just want to see what I can do with them. Got 3 Sweet Seeds Black Jack Feminized seeds from The Attitude Seedbank. Hope these are worth the money!

i. I forgot until recently that a friend had given me about 10-15 seeds he had kept from random mid grade sacs. Put the girlfriend in-charge of the germinating because she shows great talent at it. We peeked today(36hrs) and half look promising. Wish some luck there.

12) 3/28 – Mon
a. Decided I needed to build a greenhouse for this are so drew some plans in a notebook for a PVC house thinking it would be cheaper. I WAS WRONG! Went to local hardware store and using wood is half the price. I surprised. So now I am in the process of drawing new plans.
b. Any advice on siding and roofing? For best lighting?

13) 3/29 – Tues
a. So none of the seeds germinated :.-[
b. So I planned on having 9 total holes in the ground, well the soil decided that I only wanted 8. Probably 25+ gal each. Damn that was a lot of work. I owe a lot of the digging to a generous friend.

c. So 1 batch of my recipe up at the beginning of the thread didn’t even fill up 1 of my holes(in-ground planters as I call them because the roots can’t penetrate the native clay). SHIT!!!! I only have enough for 4 batches. Oh well 4 outdoor holes it is. Guess I’ll transplant the remaining 5 girls at a later date or just use Smart Pots(Benzo) swears these work. I’m down to try them.

d. I have the 3 plants that were in bad shape when I got them looking better now. Tomorrow I am going to take the one in moderate condition instead of my best or worst that way if they don’t take to mixture or weather I won’t kill the weak one or hurt the best one.
e. Mixed the second batch in my handy bathtub. But this time I at least doubled the Cocotek to help make a little more.
f. Clones are looking nice and healthy. SSH seems to be a little slow but I might be trippin because it is dense.
14) 3/30 – Wed
a. So around 4:30 this afternoon I transplanted the Mendo #1 yesterday. Didn’t water it at all because soil was nice and moist, plus I just watered the 3 big girls this morning.

b. Made a chicken wire safety cage to keep our German Sheppards, cats, and whatever other critters are around here off my girls. They’re mine I don’t like sharing.
c. After dark I will be covering them due to cold and damp weather at night. This will continue until the weather at night is no longer threatening.
15) 3/31 – Thurs
a. Got bored and since I am on a budget and plan on keeping something going indoors at all times made my own intake/exhaust in-line fan/ducting out of:
i. $7 10”(didn’t measure and am too high and lazy to go do it now) table fan.
ii. Empty Foldgers coffee cans
iii. Empty Huggies box
iv. Oh yeah, and Gorilla Tape homie! LIFE SAVER!
b. The fan isn’t anything of notable power but It does a decent amount of work.

c. This didn’t cure my boredom for very long so around 12PM I transplanted the BB(most sickly, after 2 weeks of TLC yesterday was the first new groth on this plant.

d. Seeing as how The Mendo #1 did in this soil in just over 12 hrs how could I resist.
e. Took all the same steps and didn’t water, still haven’t watered the Mendo #1 either. No need yet. Brought out Mendo #2 but left it in the pot because the 3rd batch of soil isn’t ready yet. Will be tomorrow though.

16) 4/1 – Friday
a. Got 2 more batches of my soil mixture from local grow supply store.
b. Mendo #2 is in-ground now.

c. This means all 3 of my Big Girls(Mendo #1 & 2, and DJ Short BB…The oldest of all my girls) are wearing their Big Girl Pants(25-30gal holes). Time to bush out and go crazy girls.

d. Mixed up batch 4 this evening.
e. Will start watering these three tomorrow morning. My local grow store gives away free tea concentrate(mix with 5 gal of water) every time you buy something. Not sure if I should use it or not. I will go by gut feeling in the morning.
f. The first 2 to go in-ground are taking really well to the soil mixture. Colors already look better, perkier, opening out and up, and just sexier all around.

I'm located in foothills on the West Coast, other local growers already have mature(1'6" tall) plants outside and they have been doing it for 10+ years. I am new to the area and outdoor growing so I am going to use a lot of their advice and see what happens then fine tune next year. Oh yeah, I hope to grow plants of that ginormous size for my first outdoor. Any other advice? I'm pretty much tapped for money.

17) 4/3 – Sunday
a. Had a visit from a friend today. I was brought:
i. 6 DJ Short Blueberry clones
ii. 6 Double Strawberry Diesel(DSD) clones
iii. 2 Speed Queen clones
iv. 2 Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze clones
v. 5 DJ Short Blueberry(2 month old)
vi. 1 Mendo Purps(2 month old)
vii. 1 Double Strawberry Diesel(2 months old)
b. DSD Went outside and is tied down for LST.
c. These plants need some TLC, guess you could call me the Plant Dr.
d. Plants are all droppy, sad, and a few got broke on the way here but still hope remains.
e. All the plants that will be indoor for now will switch to 24/0 lighting due to that plants that were brought were waking up when mine were going to sleep. After a week I will switch everything back to the hours that I want.
18) 4/4 – Mon
a. Woke up and walked straight to check on all my new girls. Everything is looking better. Plants are 50% perked up.

b. The plant that broke was attempted to be surgically repaired(straw and duct tape), but the plant didn’t take and basically the plant was topped the hard way. Oh well.

c. Planted a BB outside and tied down for LST.
d. Transplanted 3 plants from 1 gal grow bags to 3 gal buckets. 2 of which are will be LST with my custom made buckets.

e. Also went to local grow store and picked up a CFL/150W/VEG light and cord for vertical hanging. Got this so clones will be happy.

f. Stepped up the indoor game today to accommodate the increase in greeny. I get bored and have to do something right?

g. Oh yeah and I made this, I call it the Critter Blocker 2000

19) 4/5 – Tues
a. Ok it’s hella early and I just can’t help but check out the girls.

When these mature plants got here yesterday they couldn't stand on their own. Now look!

b. The 6 clones I’ve had for a little over a week are now in a 2’x2’x4’ grow tent with a vertical HPS. Aparently the SSH loves this shit because in just a few hours I got 1”+ of growth on them. I heard this Strain can be a monster of a plant.

19) 4/5 – Tues
a. Ok it’s hella early and I just can’t help but check out the girls.
b. The 6 clones I’ve had for a little over a week are now in a 2’x2’x4’ grow tent with a vertical HPS. Aparently the SSH loves this shit because in just a few hours I got 1”+ of growth on them. I heard this Strain can be a monster of a plant.
c. Made my final clone cabinet, it could be used to veg or flower but not every much room, 1’Dx2’Wx3’T. Used a hole saw to drill through top of cab to allow the 150W CFL to hang vertical in the center. There was no front or back for this so I stapled black/white poly to back and taped edges to keep light in. For the front I found a piece of cardboard that fit just right. Creased 1” of a long side in a door to make it bend easier for opening and closing. Covered the inside in black/white poly. Viola! Clone cab! It stays about 75 degrees and clones get dry withing 6 hours. I mist every 3 just to be safe =]

20) 4/6 – Wed
a. So as we have seen I get bored ofter and like to see if I can make stuff/improve something. Doesn’t always work that way but lately I have been on a lucky streak.
b. I don’t remember if I mentioned this, and am too high to read back through my thread, HAHA, but I wasn’t satisfied with the circle of chicken wire as my animal protector. So I found a bunch of 1x4 on the property and made 3’W x 2’6”T x 7-9’. Ran out of screws or I would have finished a cage for a single plant.

c. Watered the in-ground girls today.
d. Watered the SSH, BD, SSD and pruned them a bit. These 6 clones are just taking off, I love the way the SSH is sooo dense. The other 2 are just stretching no matter how close I get them to the light. SSD is 3x as tall as the SSH. HMMM!
e. Took apart my Sun System 150W HPS and hung it vertical homie. Thanks for the idea Benzo, THX HOMIE!

21) 4/9 – Fri
a. Woke up to 2” of snow EVERYWHERE. Good thing I remembered to cover the girls last night. I bet they are not happy about this BS. It’s fucking April and I have to see snow. I like snow but not when I have young vulnerable girls outdoors. At least there is a layer of snow on all coverings, that should keep some heat in.

22) 4/9 – Sat
a. Got 3 teeth pulled yesterday so just taking it easy today. No real work.
b. Woke up and the first thing I did was look outside. NO SNOW, NO RAIN, JUST SUN. Went straight outside to uncover the girls and the 3 younger ones look overwatered(understandable it rained 1 day then snowed the next, but no worse for wear) with drooping leaves. The other 2 older ones look great. When we put these 2 in ground we tied them to the ground, well now everything is perking up and the LST seems to be successful.

c. Out of 16 clones brought to me 1 died completely and 4 need to show roots. Do the math and that means that so far we got 11 clones with roots.
d. I transplanted 5 clones last night, 3 BB, 1 Speed Queen, and 1 DSD.

a. Clear day = Fence building!
b. Just found knats or winged aphids on my soil. OHHHHH I’m PISSED!

c. OK, calmed down a little bit. LMAO. No really though I was worried.
d. 2 friends came up and we built a chain link privacy fence but only got the chain link up. Thanks guys.
e. Also they brought up soil to fill all the holes with. So that means we now have ALL 8, 20-35 gal(or whatever they are haven’t actually measured it) holes with Ladies in them. Man that feels like such a accomplishment.
f. Today was also a complete up potting/transplanting:
i. 4 clones went into ½ gallon grow bags
ii. My 6 girls, SSH, SSD, BD, went into 2 gal grow bags
iii. Other mature plants went into 3 gal grow bags
iv. 3 plants went from 3 gal pots to inground

g. Got bored and was reading the ICMAG'S OFFICIAL ~DIY~ LINK-O-RAMA or something like that. Anysways seen a micro bubble cloner and got to thinking why the hell can’t I make a single one just to test it out. Here it goes:
i. 1 air pump laying around from last year grow.

ii. 1 airstone

iii. 1 Foldgers coffee can
iv. 1 Styrofoam cup
v. Gorilla tape(black out reservoir)
h. Here it is up and running. Oh yeah, notice the ghetto ass Vertical CFL.

i. MY SEEDS CAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

24) 4/11 – Mon
a. So this whole grow is actually a partner grow(I think that is the right term). I talked to him and he doesn’t mind so more than half the credit to whatever we have going on is due to…..Benzo. He has his own personal grow going on so you are going to have to check that out too. Benzo's current thread, peep it The DJ Short BB, Mendo Purps, Speed Queen, Double Strawberry Diesel are strains that Benzo brought to the table. Also all his knowledge and his patience with my endless questions/ideas is amazing. So hopefully us teaming up will produce some awesome herbal relief.
b. On with the day.
c. Did some cleaning in the tent and tub. I don’t like letting the plants sit in the runoff for fear of all kinds of badness. Rearranged girls so the 2 big ones are in the tub and all others are in the tent.

d. Had a seed sprout so I put it in soil and the Clone Cab I built. Good luck my little baby.
e. Outside update

f. The SSH clone in the bubble cloner is still alive and kicking, not wilted and lazy. I suppose that is a good sign.
g. Forgot to get a pic of the fence. HMMMM. Benzo I know you got one homie. Post that shit.
h. Oh yeah and I am happy because I was walking around the property again just to see if I can use anything else and found a little stash of planters.

26) 4/13 – Wed
a. Woke up, stretched, looked at the outdoor girls, AND WAS PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A animal had thought it would be a good idea to eat the DSD into 3 sections. I cut the top and dipped in Clonex and attempted to save. UGH!

b. Got to looking at the clone cab and didn’t like how far away the light was from the little fragile girls so I made this:

27) 4/14 – Thur
a. Everyone is on the up and up today, lots of new growth on most outdoor plants(the ones the didn’t get eaten, that’s still a touchy subject for me). The SSH, BD, & SSD are just looking beautiful. MMMMM. PICTURE TIME!!!!!!! (Queue runway song)

b. My bubble cloner seems to be keeping the cutting alive but no root growth as of yet. I have been changing the water every 48hrs. Patience my little cutting.
c. So I built my 1” x 4” cages for the girls and just wasn’t satisfied with having to cover them with plastic every night and then uncover every morning. I’m too lazy for that. So I went outside and got busy. So I had 1 cage wrapped in chicken wire and I stapled plastic all around it and cut to slits to allow for breathing and cooler temps. The other one was only frame so I had to chicken wire then plastic it. I am very satisfied with the results. It was kind of like wrapping a giant ass present with no bottom.

d. The girlfriend and I sat down and shared a bowl while following Benzo’s advice on defoaliating. See who says that gardening can’t be quality time. LMAO

e. Went through the tray of clones to check for roots and only the 6 from the first tray had roots, lots of them. Put those 6 in ½ gal bags and transplanted the 5 Dixie cup clones to ½ gal bags. In 1 week those cups got filled with roots coming out of the bottom. I started all this at about 11:45pm and finished at about 1:30am. Seemed like it was never going to end.

f. The Deimos seed is coming along nicely. I love gifts.

g. Love the new “Mini Greenhouses”! They make life way more convenient.

28) 4/16 – Sat
a. Woke up this morning and rotated all plants so they don’t get too close to the lights.
b. Checked on clones and it seems like the BB’s are just loving the environment and should show roots any day now, the DSD & SQ look like they are really struggling.
Went outside and uncovered the ladies. Decided its time to turn up the music and go defoliate the 4 bigger ones. Also I topped 1 of them and topped Mendo #1. PICS:

c. All transplants are looking healthy and happy =]

d. Got the real kind of dolomite lime this last weekend and got some mych a few days before that. So I sprinkled a little bit of each on top of the soil of the plants that did not get that in their mixture. Then gave all plants a good healthy dose of water since the weather has been in the 80’s. I like this warmer weather, and so do the girls.
