What's new

At it again...Widow and Skunk...which shall be victorious?

This will be my 2nd grow here at icmag and im hoping it goes better than the last one. I lost a good friend over the last one and im hoping this will be the time to break the streak. So unlike last time these will be in an ebb and flow setup using a 600 Watt HiLux MH for Veg and a 600 Watt Ultrasun HPS for flower. Very simple and straight forward. The plants will feed off of GH flora bloom and micro (lucas) with Subculture-B added for root innoculant. The nutes will get pumped out of the 20 gal res via a 255GPH pump to the tray where they fall into 3" on top of 6" rockwool cubes. Like I stated the setup is extremely simple which is what i prefer. Here are the first 2 weeks worth of pics...
i have 2 in soil...1 clone mother from the last grow, 1 from seed DF White widow. The 4 indicas in cubes are all DF white widow except for the middle, that is also a clone of the mothers skunk and diesel genetics (just learned of the diesel in her). Sooo...total of 7 plants currently. The clone mother is actually flowering i just move her into the veg room because of the light difference. She starts her day and ends it under a 4' 4 tube HO Flouro

This one of the WW has 2 secondary at each internode...for a total of 4 secondary per mainstem leaf sets. Any one ever seen this before?

So thats pretty much it for now. They are about 2 and a half to 3 weeks old at this point. I will be keeping updates probably every other day. Feedback and advice is always welcome.

Here is a small update on progress. They are growing at a pretty good clip now though im seeing a little bit of tip burn already...guess my nutes are a little on the strong side. Anyone know what the recommended ranges are for WW as far as ec and prefered pH? Id love to not have to figure this one out on my own lol. Anyways topmost pics are of everything together. Old clone is popping hairs out all over the place. Last 2 go rounds she was frosty by 4 weeks, looked wet by 6, and...well 8 can only be described by seeing it. Needless to say she is at 11 days of flower and until the WW are big enough to go into 12/12 she is going to be moved on a daily basis. Last pic is of the odd plant with double the secondary. Better pic to point out the unusual aspect of it. It'll probably be male or intersex but its still cool watching what it does. I think its reverting back to normal growth though as the uppermost growth is back to 2 per internod as opposed to 4.

those are some fat indica leaves. i like the simplicity, but im a tinkerer and a builder and im always trying to one up my current or last grows. i wont stop until ive found something thats badass enough to stop and keep me content

@Potent green - thanks man i think it should be made note of i spent less than $50 putting this together. I saw the $500 system at my shop and went to homedepot and bought the majority of it for 1/10th the cost. Now we get to see how they yield. Oh and charlie sheen is a MF'n rockstar from mars lol.

@BlueberryNutz - Yes, I love the leaves too, cant stop smelling them. As I stated above i built this setup myself to get away from the slow pace of soil. Sooo...I totally understand your need to one up yourself because i feel it too. Every harvest has got to taste better, be more potent, and rock my dome better than the last. Hydro seemed the way to go for that lol. Nothing wrong with soil at all i just cant stand fucking with the pH and it seemed like there was way to much maintenance. This hydro setup pretty much stays at 5.8 without me really doing anything. I love it!

Also bout to post some updates just gotta finish the bong pack im on and ill get off my lazy ass and take some pics. Just to make note it looks like i went 5 females for 5 seeds (they werent feminized...i think) which gives us a total of 7 lovely ladies at this point. They were all topped yesterday and today i flushed the rockwool with pure h20 to remove salt buildup. They seem to be happy with the situation. Pix in a bit.

Update pics. First 3 are group pix. The soilbound WW is on the left in a green pot in front of the RKS clone thats flowering. Last pic is her first flowers after 14 days exactly of 12/12.

So thats the update for the moment. now that they've been topped id expect only about 20 more days of veg before i make the switch for all of them. Then the RKS mom will finish with the WW under a 600Watt HPS for the remainder of her lifespan. Peac yall and happy blazin!

Bout time for an update. I was out of town over the weekend so I couldnt post anything, then I get back and HOLY SHIT!!! They have become monsters...the tops are all tangled in themselves and the mainstem leaves are the size of my head. This is really my first serious hydro endeavour and I dont think I will ever go back. Needless to say they are dropping sex for real and so far there are 3 out of 5 widow females. Both RKS are cloned females so at the moment this is looking very good. The best male will probably get crossed with the RKS in hopes of a good hybrid. Also while I was gone they were only marginally attended by a friend so I think the pH was a little off but I mixed a new res yesterday and today its showing 5.8 again so i think they should be good now. Not his fault at all he's still very young in his gardening career and he did exactly what i told him. Needless to say, they are doing beautifully. So...here are the pics from today...they call me McDonalds because Im fuckin' lovin' it!

Hydro/White Widow/Male #1 - I apparently only took a pic of this one but not the other lol because I am a stoner and am off in the clouds so my deepest apologies

So thats whats up for right now, Im very impressed thus far.

Time for an update my lazy ass had not calibrated my meter in like 2 weeks so I was adding enough pH down to the res to melt the plastic its made of. After calibration I realized my pH had fallen to about 4.9 so I added some pH raise (about 15 mL per 15 gal.) which brought it back up to about 5.7. Hopefully I can not be such a stoner and keep my meter calibrated at least once a week. Any ways real short pics because these are 3 days old and im gonna get new ones up today. Oh, and they went into 12/12 on wednesday so this would be day 3, except for the clone mother she's at like week 3 or 4 i think. Im pretty sure all female though one looks like it may have ballz on it too. What would one expect with fem seeds though lol.

Very very nice, those are some lush ladies.

Have you noticed any stretch from them since making the switch?

hey bro nice lookin plants also the ww with double shot in one look so dank..i have one white widow x big bud from female seed bank that come with some mutant stem..if you want check in my thread in growdiary..you are welcome..!!

@Creep they really havent yet though i do know that widow strains are supposed to have some serious stretch. They didnt however respond to pinching or 'cropping techniques. Topping was the only way to kill the stretch in veg, even under MH. The Skunk in the middle has much more profuse branching due to it being pinched so damn much.

@Killerweed31 thank you my friend i did look at your grow and i had to grin because i expect my plants to be about that size when they finish. I love the wierd stems man, its different just like when plants develope 3 leaf sets per internode. Unusual stuff is fun, I just hope its potency is just as special.

Anyways the pH is back at 5.8 and they are looking amazing though pix from this point on will probably suck because HPS makes everything look like its 2 days from being dead. Ill try and get pics while the light isnt on but that may or may not be do-able depending on schedule. More to come. dueces and thanks for the feedback.

Thanks man, I forgot to post new pics yesterday as i have a weakness for cold landshark with NYC Diesel...which then lead to me out on the couch lol. They are much bigger today than they were then, so I need to get some new pics up. Also I feel like i should note if i havent already that this setup was put together for less than $100 US mostly from lowes. Had to go the the hydro shop for some of it but the majority of this setup is from lowes or home depot. Had to do alot of research on off-gassing to make sure what i got would be ok but other than the occasional pH problem it works beautifully. The light I do not incluse in the cost as I've had the light for a few years now. Anyways new pics coming today.

Nice simple and effective set up!

Those are some nice gal... very healthy and lush.

Wish you the best in your project and a nice harvest.

Thank you sir the simplicity was probably most important. I wanted something that was easy to maintain, wouldnt cost alot to replace parts, and would yield on par with a 4' x 4' ebb and flow setup costing about $500 US. So far this setup has exceeded every expectation and I am looking forward to the next 8 weeks to see what the end result is. I hopefully will pull 2 or more oz. per plant but once again no expectations because they aren't accurate. So here are the update pics from 5 minutes ago. The puppy decided she wanted to help too so she gets her 15 minutes of fame. Everything is looking good except for the clone mamma. I found some leaves that look like hell, to me resembles a pH problem, pH was 5.9 in soil...soooo...not surprised just wanted a second opinion.

Flora Micro and Flora Bloom, and come to think of it I havent really given much detail on that. The plant in question is in soil and I just applied garden lime to it hoping to raise pH some. I cant even remember the last time it was nuted to be honest...maybe 4 weeks ago or more? Its also got little brown spots on some younger leaves, not localized on the plant but all over. Man I really hope its pH...

Uhhh...quick question Mr. G Pope, where would I be able to find that at? Is that like a grocery store item or do I need to go somewhere special?
