Best Deal on Water Retaining Crystals?

I'm having trouble finding water retaining crystals in bulk. Perhaps ''water crystals'' isn't the best search criteria. Does anyone know of a source that sells these in 5-10lb amounts?

A good soil media usually needs more drainage amendments, not water holding capacity.

Thanks all for the links and threads. I'm doing about 10 different spots this year. I had already read most of the threads relating to water retention and such. Most of my spots are heavy clay soil. With those I plan to do minimal amending and basically break the native soil up really good. I'm confident those will be fine.

Some of the other spots are extremely rocky and not the best soil by any means. These I can't spend any more time than chopping a few holes and planting. They're in areas I'll not be able to go back to more than 3-4 times throughout the season. It are these spots I'm wanting to use the polymers.

im pickin up the 5lb bag n doin 30 plants this year so 5lbs/30holes= 2.66oz per hole seem like enough? feedback plz lol
