My belief is the first step is to choose a strain that gets big and yields big. Ive grown the Sb and its doesnt. You might manipulate it to get a lb from it but her close nodal spacing is a disease/bug heaven. Bog himself has said sb is not outdoor strain and i would never try it again.

The Lemon skunk might get big and yield big if you work with it. It will mould and because it doenst finish until very late oct, watch for botryitis problems.

50 gallon pot.

After strain selection, i would put soil 2nd, sunshine 3rd and water 4th.

All rightly concentrate on environment and genetics but ignoring these variables momentarily I offer that plants from seed have often resulted larger than those started from clone, for me. Likewise my results directly in the ground have trumped that which I have been able to achieve in containers. PPp.

perfect answer D.S. and thank you. yeah how copact the SB is does make sense that it would be bug heaven. what kind of soil should i be using? for my indoor i use promix as my base.

use the same soil as you would indoors promix is fine

i always use time released ferts outdoors cuz it is easier and nit rains a lot here which makes it a pain in the ass to feed liquid nutes

i would just make a big ass hole in the ground as big as you can the bigger the hole the bigger the yield

then build a cage around the plant so you can attach it later on when it gets real big

bend the plants horizontally whn it is like 2 feet long and then top it to promote side branches , all these side branches will become main branches cuz you bent it , you'll get a shitload of smaller buds , still big , but smaller then if you would'nt have topped it

But you will also have many more buds this way

smaller buds are better then long fat colas if humidity is an issue

Before flowering i treat the plant with an anti botiritys spray to soemwhat make the branches and seedpods more difficult to get mold

Like D.S said SB outdoors is a bad idea

on my second last grow i got mold on the sour bubble indoors

it was the only plant that got mold , the buds are just so tight and greasy and the internodal distance and stretch in flower are close to nothing

i made a cross with manitoba meds and Sb and i just dont dare to try it outdoors lol

Start early

Start early

If you are just starting now you are a little late. Get them going and the root structure started early, build strength with fans.

Only other advise for large yield is plenty of sun. watch your surroundings and place in an optimal spot for sun throughout the day and season.

good luck

Sour bubble is a tough one that ive heard almost every grower that has tried to grow it say its extremely vaunerable to mold def if doing outdoors even though it will cut back on your yeild it may save ur crop..... id LST them and then basically strip the underside branches to increase surface area and cut back on mold chances also id plant on a windy side of a hill granted water is plentiful and a very sunny spot this will help dry the plant itself out so water isnt just sitting on it IMO def good luck tho will be interesting to see how it turns out :)

thanks THC. my main focus besides nuits, water and sun is keepin the animals at bay. which i think will be easy considering i put a fence completely around it. and im not puting the SB out. it turned out to be a male :( ohwell im sure the Super Lemon will do just find. i have a Blue berry strain as well. how is that out doors???

my buddy just grew a crop in the northeast of blueberry haze and it never finished due to frosts but however he didnt have any problems other than that around here..... we really dont need to worry about bugs and such tho mainly just the chopper n deer lol

Big holes aren't neccessary if you're native soil is good enough for the roots to penetrate. I dig 12 gallon holes and by the time the plant outgrows the hole, its root structure is strong enough that it'll punch out into the surrounding native soil. I get half pound plants this way, from only a tiny 7" tall clone planted in mid june. I don't think that my yields are limited by the size of the hole I'm planting in, but rather by the length of the veg period - at my latitude flowering starts the last week of july/first week of august. If I could plant 3 weeks earlier I think the extra veg time could really help out. Also be nice to veg the plants for a few extra weeks (or months) indoors under a MH bulb, but when you've got to carry hundreds of clones through the bush it's just easier to plant small clones.

You also need alot of water, I water nearly 2 gallons/day in the peak of the summer - big buds need big water.

South facing plots work great because they not only get great sun exposure, but the soil stays warmer on a south facing slope which is very important in the fall when night time tempuratures start dropping. When roots drop below around 7 degrees celcius the plant starts shutting down and most of the next day is spent trying to recover from the shock instead of putting the energy into bud development.

Use additives like molasses through flower, I also use Big Bud and other products. Molasses is high in carbs, sugars and is also a decent source of P/K fertilizers.

Most important is to watch for what YOUR strain needs; some are heavy feeders, others heavy drinkers, others like to be pruned, some do not need it - the easiest way to grow big plants is to grow the same strain in the same spot year after year and keep track of what you did throughout the growing season and what effects it had. This way you can fine tune the way things go the following years.

this is not true. cut clones now, root em harden em off put em outside first week of may with a little frost blanket just in case, or a wall-o-water and a couple hours of extra light at night and you've got some monsters. follow the grow large plants thread and pick the right genetics ... SLH is not a big yielder outdoors.
