Just had a helicopter fly over

So this morning I had a black helicopter hover over my house for a couple of minutes. Why this is funny to me.

1. I am legal and stay within my limits

2. I have nothing growing right now because I just harvested

3. Even if I was growing my lights go off at 6:30 am

Assuming this was the po po and they were running FLIR on me don't you think they should have done some research to see what times I run my lights? I have a smart meter so it would not be hard to tell that I run from 6:30 pm to 6:30 am. They could also check the list and see that I have my grow registered at the address they were hovering over. Oh well I guess if they are looking at me they might be missing an illegal grower. :)

well even if you are legal lets hope they don't come by, do they leave you alone if you have the rec or do they still make you fight it in court?

anyway best of luck, lets hope they were doing something unrelated to you up there.

I really would try not to worry about it. It's more than likely just a coincidence, and the helicopter had nothing to do with you. Since you're legal then definitely you are probably safe! I've had weird shit like that happen. Like a cop car with a K9 parking right in front, but later learn it has something to do with something totally different. I live under a major helicopter flight path now, so I hear them all the time, so much so they shake the house. :)

Somebody may have dropped a dime on you. It happened to me. UPS guy came out one afternoon to deliver something to the wife and I just happened to have a couple of very bushy C99xDeepChunks in pots sitting at the end of the house and the wife observed from his body language that he obviously spotted them. Fast forward about 10 days,...I get a call from the neighbor that I have a chopper hovering at tree top level over the place with someone hanging out of an open side door attempting to see what I had in the yard. As I said it was only a couple of plants. maybe an ounce of dried leaf out of everythilng they could see. I moved everything out, shut down completely only to never hear anythilng from it. But better safe than sorry. If they were indeed hovering over your house and noone elses then they were definitely there for a reason. Of course if you are legal who cares.

No such thing as coincidences in life....But I do live under a flight path, and it sucks, Im always running out my back door and looking up at the sky to see black heli's every fucking where, looks like a war zone sometimes... I show them my dick and walk back inside. Luckily they are flying pretty fast, and sometimes pretty high up to, but not as high as me, not usually.

I was transplanting Tahoe OG teens yesterday and heard the 'whoop whoop whoop'.

I live in a very heavy air traffic area, planes goin north south east and west all day but there is no mistaking the tone of a chopper (shit makes me psychotic I swear).

quickly set em under a tree as I was outside doin this and just carried on my way.

if they didn't come down and rip em, they didn't see em or it wasn't enough to justify sending in a car.

if you are just indoors, they technically need a warrant to be legal doing FLIR surveillance of a house (which means you're fucked already if they have a warrant), but you're tellin me they cruise around with FLIR off at night? haha no.

Keep your temps and smell in check and as long as you dont have loose lips, a helicopter can hover all day (at the rate of about $500-800 taxpayer dollars an hour mind you) and get nothing.

same, though I gotta admit I went from loving helicopters as a kid (and riding in them) to HATING them and never wanting to see/hear one again.

I live REAL close to the California Aqueduct for years during outdoor growing season the State POPO would fly over at 300 feet twice a day both directions, it scared the CRAP out of me for years then I just figured they have better things to then mess with me so I quit worrying about it.
Now during fire season the helicopters would fill up with water out of the aqueduct, they where so close I think I could see myself in the pilots mirrored sunglasses.
Needless to say they where some nervous times.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've got sheriff choppers flying around me during the summer and fall seasons (while the sun is out). They've circled my house, neighbors' houses, and fly-bys all at low altitude. No biggie. I run outdoor plants too, but it's not a blatantly obvious plot of mj crops.

Happens all the time during that time of year (sept-nov). It looks like the choppers are circling overhead, but so far no troubles knock on wood. I get them in the "off season" too. Happened the other day, a chopper passed over slowly, several times without going away... Bugs me out a little, but i try not to worry. IR scanning would detect the generally raised temperature in a portion of a residence correct? In winter.. i would assume many people use space heaters in a bedroom, and in summer people definitely use window units to cool a single room. I feel a bit safer knowing these things. But who knows.. I never worked with the LEOs, i don't know what they got on deck.

Also.. for the outdoor folks.

How often do you see in the papers that LEO's discovered a grow (outside) and all they got is the plants. Great publicity for the LEOs.. no work or $ spent catching criminals - their operation was just stopped.. why bother spending the time going after em.

Definitely don't hang around if you think you were spotted, but.. you catch my drift.

It may have just been a matter of timing... they may have waited too long to act on a tip. Happened to me a few years ago, had chopped my crop and a few days later I hear this helo. Go outside to find them hovering right above my spot. Was close enough I made eye contact with the pilot. Waved to him, and he maneuvered the bird sideways until he was right above me, then took off. It was great, all I had in the spot was a huge sunflower plant. Haven't been buzzed since, but we do get regular fixed wing low altutude fly overs.

Thats funny because I live under a flight path too.. I always run out my back door and look. happens every night.. i swear they fly directly over my house, and i have a poorly insulated 4000 watt grow. i really need to run the lights at night but it kind of worries me.. i could run lights during the day but the temp difference come night time with lights off it will ruin my yield. i just don't want my place lit up on their screen.

The worst thing you can do if there are choppers outside is run out and look-up at them just ignore the fuckers they likely are not even there to look at you but very well may do so if you are outside looking up or running around like a nut being nervous. They know that people who do this usually have something to hide. Just stay inside & act normal.

Run lights during the day if you are using HID and off at night when the FLIR can easily detect heat signatures, normally the heat & IR energy from the sun prevents the FLIR from seeing much during the day unless maybe it's cold out but even then FLIR is really effective and mostly used at night which is when you don't want lights on or to be venting or exhausting hot air. If you cool your room properly and have it well insulated nothing should show up at night with the lights off that would suggest a grow worth them bothering with indoors. If you grow with LED which has literally zero IR signature and use growlab tents that are IR blocking and create a "room within a room" you don't need to worry about FLIR unless your room is like 90 degrees or something but even then it could be your laundry room, a room with pet reptile, a legal garden of vegetables, and so on. People have warm rooms!

Just because a house has some heat signature does not automatically grant a warrant because there are literally hundreds of explanations for it. Most times if they are running FLIR on you they already know what you are doing or have good reason to suspect it usually due to a snitch. FLIR cannot see through walls and roofs but it can see the room heated up in comparison to the rest of the structure because building material absorb infrared heat from HID lighting (namely HPS) and it makes the room glow on the FLIR image if it's not properly cooled and insulated. Again, things that can be avoided by using LED. :good:

Outside, well you pretty much are outside.

Be safe guys, stay within your limits! :canabis:

sorry for sort of hijacking the thread. i guess i will set them to run in the day, one less thing to worry about and yielding anything is definitely better than nothing and all and getting raided. Do you think i'll suffer a lot in the yield department? 77F day with lights on and around 53 at night. My room is cooled via negative pressure, all I could do is turn off one of the two exhaust and throw a heater or two in there and see.
