i only had this mix and no money to buy just plain peat or promix so i used this mix(60% ProMix HP + Mike
30% perlite
10% worm castings for micros and BB)
will my seedlings be ok in this or is it too much?

I would go 20% on the castings. if you can't, get as close as you can.

agree with supermanlives, even straight castings shouldn't burn... and you say 1 rotted away..maybe to much moisture for that one..it could be dampening off, a fungal disease, which can be caused by overwatering

Your good so far chong'sbuddy, but I doubt the ewc will get you through harvest. Are you planning on more feeding? Or more amendments? Scrappy

i have organic soil cooking right now,i have uused it before and its awesome.i got the recipe from organic fanatic collective.the one with bone meal, blood meal, kelp meal ewc etc.its actually been cooking for 4 weeks so its good to go.for the first time im actually on top of things, and it feels soooo good!the mix i have my seedlings in is just for the first week or 2.then i transplant into a half and half mix of promix and the organic mix in 1 gallon pots until i get a good root ball and then make my final transplant into 5 gallon pots with 100% organic mix.this is just for mothers,no flowering.

Cool that, I somehow thought you were going all the way with ewc, my bad bro. I root in straight pro mix top dressed with a small amount of ewc, once I start watering there about ready for a tiny ewc shot, works well...good luck....scrappy

it's not the nutes that got your seedling..

you really don't have much nutes in the mix...

why your seedling died, I have no clue as I do not know the setup.. but I can tell you your plants will be hungry before you know it.. your mix is referred to as very light

Mr dude

i have noticed that mixing wc in sunshine(close to pro mix) slows down the drainege and can lead to kinda muddy soil i like wc as a top dress or tea
found it much easier to use pre mixed soils either way you could have went with all promix and watered with worm casting tea seedlings grow quit simple and have built in energy to get through first pot wc or not
anyway good look man

I was not going to open a new topic so please reply. What is better for the soil mixed with wormcasting or volcanic soil?

i agree totally with habeeb.
that mix is VERY light. up the castings.
i start seeds in this mix:
3qt parts
5 parts peat
3 parts chunk perlite
2 parts EWC
1 heaping cup dolomite lime

and within a week maybe 2 theyre HUNGRY.
strain dependent of course on how soon they will be wanting food.

also, some seedlings just dont make it. thats just how it goes.
