A fresh cutting.....?
If you have taken a cut or sets of cuts from mothers that haven't been sexed yet you can flip them to 12/12...let them veg a few days to take root and not stress is preferred before the flip.

you can skip the rockwool and just put them in a cup of water. label them all and put them in a cup of water and they will sex and root both. rooting takes forever this way but if you dont really need the cut and just need to sex a $6 cfl and a closet or a box can be your friend if you dont have a dedicated flower room.
Heres why,Ive done this before but not with a scrogg.The root mass strecthes just as much as the plant,wich makes it a bitch to separate .I'm hoping some one has done what i want to do with sucess or failure.
I dont really want to seed out the whole room but if neccasary i will do to save these genetics

Just buy a loop. With magnification and a bit of knowledge you ought to be able to sex most (vast majority) cannabis plants in veg before you can really take a decent cut - before they are a month old.
These popped first week of March and I could sex 2/3 by 3-23. I'm still waiting on one. I typically see definitive pre-flowers between 3 weeks and one month from sprout.

Edit: If I were just looking at the nodes with my naked eye I would be able to see preflower formations, but I would be able to make out enough of the detail to tell male or female; you need a loop or some sort of decent magnification.

I do have a drinking prob maybe it was a black out
if your in 12/12 it will take less then 4 weeks to sex. If your in veg it can take up to 6 weeks to see pre flowers. Some strains will take forever like pure Sativas/Hazes these can go past 8 weeks.

You were definitely on the ball trying the paper bag on your head.... Most people would have just put any old paper bag on their plant.
Designer may have used a thicker paper bag and was able to succeed in a branch flowering. I may try designers technique as I will be growing trees,starting from seed
