The Pure

Hey,

Does anyone have a review of The Pure?? And I mean The Pure strain after Flying Dutchman was taken over by Sensi Seeds (could be wrong about that specific breeder). I've heard that people think the strain has taken a dip in quality but I thought I'd ask here.

A favorite of mine would have to be the now (I think) unavailable Skunk #1 x Durban Poison from Sam the Skunkman. Oh man that was a great strain, and I'll get it back even if I have to breed it myself! :jump: :p

It was pure crap, especially if you are looking for something skunky. I had a plant take in excess of 14 weeks and yielded bud on par with mexi mids (minus the seeds).

Mind you, the pack I have was purchased right after Sensi took over, so I would expect even worse now.

I got 1 plant that was decent, far from a good skunk, it was potent, with a really muddy high, from what I remember the high didnt last long.

I also grew RKS (Really Killer Skunk) by another breeder and that was decent but then again far from skunk.

Does a Skunk#1 resembling the original strain even exist anymore?

NOT EVEN CLOSE! THE PURE nowadays is PURE SHIT! although it was sliightly uniform the plants where nothing like a real SKUNK#1, but very short indica little plants but had a flowering time of 65days+, I tested 3 packs, looking for something to cross into my Skunk#1 1989. Lets just say i didn't find anything that even came close.

Problems with THE PURE nowadays out of the 17 females I got, 7 showed various ranges of hermies, 4 where mutants and small, 6 where ok, but NOT SKUNK#1!!!!!

I hope they can get SKUNK#1 back on track, it is almost impossible to find a REAL good skunk these days. Unless you get it from a private grower.

Maybe I will have to make my avalible at the Bay.

ugh, thats saddddddd. Wanted to recreate a great Skunk#1 x Durban Poison cross. It was bliss

Some seedbanks have that cross and theyve been around for a while so they wouldve used an old skunk1.
Skunkman sam himself has the line, aswell as seedsman.

SGS how does you '89 skunk smell?

My Skunk#1 1989 is a very sativa dominant pheno type that was found in some Skunk#1 seed stock in 1989, seeds where made from this sativa looking SK#1 and backcross to the Original clone trying to stablize her, I now have a nice version of her, in seed form. She isnt your classic Dutch Skunk#1, much more dense and not as big yeilding. Basically she has a sativa structure but small indica rockhard buds. Very rich weed taste with a pronouced SKUNK smell. This is why i was looking for another Skunk#1 that had a big larger yeild to see if i could improve upon my own.

During that time of testing and searching I accquired a few OLD Skunk#1 seed lines,, I was able to even get some from Shantibaba from early work of Nevils. Most of those seeds didnt sprout but I finally got some that did and well ladies and gentelmen it is classic SKUNK#1. I have done some crossing and whatnot to the best SKunk #1 I have but I still want to lock down the phenos a bit more before I can use it for breeding and such.

Here is Skunk#1 1989 Pure line.

Here is my Skunk #1 made by me using all the old lines I collected. As you can see they are totally different looking, but the Skunk#1 1989 is an IBL selected for that pheno over many generations. Only thing that sucks about it is that you have to wait 70days for harvest! The taste is good, sometimes that taste gets me in trouble tho, i cant stop hitting the pipe and end up way too stoned!:dance013:

The Skunk#1 seed lines I tested are:

GOOD

Seedsman, was good but seemed kind of a watered down version, from the old days, but I geuss that happens with time.

Shanitbaba, GREAT old seed line, I dont think you can get any.

2 Private growers in Canada, GREAT classic Skunk#1, dutch type.

Sensi Skunk#1, was good if you found the correct pheno, which shouldn't be true for such and old so called IBL Skunk#1.

My Skunk#1 consists of Shanti x Private Canadian, it is amazing what you can find people hoarding for the past 20 yrs. My Skunk#1 has a 8-9 week flowering time.

BAD!!! STAY AWAY!!

TFD THE PURE! UNSTABLE NOT SKUNK#1!!!

HGF Skunk#1 UNSTABLE HERMIE FEST!

Oh I thought The Pure was the real deal.
I've been thinking between Sensi's Skunk #1 and The Pure, but sounds like TFD has messed up something.

that cut looks so close to the chem line it is redonkulus. I only run the chem d but that plant could be its sister.

SGS your Skunk looks more like old pics of the "pure" before it became the piece of crap we know today. Do you or will you have any of those skunk seeds available anytime soon? I'll keep an eye out, I'd love to get a hold of a real old skool skunk.

Im friends with an old dude that loves skunk. He has tried many of the currently available skunk seedlines but keeps coming up with junk, at least from what I've seen and smoked.

SGS looks great. I grew out Skunkmans Skunk #1 and found it highly variable from plant to plant. Most was OK, pretty good, average smoke. Some was real hay. Not even close to what I had in the late 80s from Seed Bank stock.

^^ Now that is disappointing. I would have thought his would have been something special.I am still looking for a great Skunk variety and the reviews I kread all seem to say the same thing. I Skunk varieties really that hard to find?

Peace

Stable Skunk strains are harder to find nowadays because it takes effort to keep the old classics PURE and alive without giving in to the ever continuing outcrossing that is an ongoing trend like this sentence that never seems to stop...

Seriously tho you can find some old skunk genetics that are ok, it just takes more time then it used to.

Have you tried Nirvana's Skunk 1? The breeders at Nirvana are pretty awesome. Their skunk may be more Dutch Skunk, but I think they would be a bit more stable. :pimp3:
