BEST L.E.D. SOLD

I like you. :) Been doing your research I take it?

Hi man,

you bet I have! I've actually read a lot of your posts. Good shit.

For the past 3 years I've grown with a 400w HPS in a large armoire, but the time has come to downsize my living space & I will also be downsizing my grow. I have high performance expectations coming from the 400w so I'm hellbent on designing the perfect LED lamp for my micro space (33''L x 15''D x 30''H). I intend to utilize every square inch of footprint, so nothing in the commercial LED arena is gonna do the trick I'm afraid. I'll be following your PC grow to check out your lamps performance.

Anyone else looking into the Kessil lights? From what I can tell they look very promising may be a nice addition to the LG's which are kicking ass btw ;)

those kessils look kinda cool, but way too small a spread, and way too expensive. maybe as supplemental spotlight i can see them rockin.

Well, I don't think that they qualify as fat, frosty buds yet, but there are some pictures in my album that might be of interest to you. The pictures were taken on day 19 of 12/12, so they aren't too developed yet, but I think they show promise! They are under a LumiGrow ES330 with (2) Osram 55 watt 2700k PLL lamps to round things out.

So I may or may not be looking for another LED unit in the near future. I am looking at the LumiGrow units and something seems peculiar to me, check out the prices (from Greners):

LumiGrow 330 ES - $1450
LumiGrow 165 ES - $565

If I bought 2 165 ES units that would equal the output of the single 330 ES unit at a savings of almost $350. Am I looking at this wrong? Why would I buy the single stronger unit? The flexibility that 2 smaller units offers may be preferable to some people including me. Although some pictures don't make it clear, the 165 also has the knobs for variable spectrum output. LumiGrow lists the actual wattage draw as 330 and 165 respectively.

It is an interesting marketing decision by Lumigrow to make the MSRP of the 165 less than half of the 330 model.

The 330 has auto-switching for 120/240V while the 165 has a switch inside the fixture. The 330 has triple fans, the 165 has a single (slightly larger) fan. The weight of the 330 is 13lb while the 165 is 6lb so maybe the larger model has more than twice the heatsink mass. The circuit board that the LEDs mount to is identical (silk screened copyright 2007 IIRC).

The 165 only needs to blow air out one side (the LED side) with maybe an inch or two clearance on the "back" side. Allowing for ventilation of the LED heatsinks, the 330 will fit in some spaces better than a pair of 165s.

My plan for a 4.5ft wide tent is to mount a 165 ten or twelve inches from a 330, both lights inline, with the LED side of the 165 facing the other fixture. This will provide prime coverage across the width of the tent.

My Swt #4 IBL project plants are currently under Lumigrow 330's and they are as healthy as can be and despite pollination for beans flowers are right on track for where you would expect HPS grown plants to be if not better. They are in fully organic amended soil in 3 gal smartpots. Perimeter of the canopy is lined in HO T5's at 6500k color temp they have a good amount of 740 nm in them for far red flowering needs. You do not have to supplement but it makes a difference so there is no flowering delays. :canabis:

This shot was with the LED light about 15" off the tops and then the meter held a few inches down in the canopy.

Thanks for the reminder on the T5s. I need one for my veg tent and flower. I was thinking about adding T5s but forgot!

Link in sig is to my Growledhydro 300w LED grow. Currently at day 52 of flower.

They are great the little thin light strip ones made by a few big lighting names out there work great and use very low wattage and run pretty cool they don't really make a big impact on resources but they surely make a huge impact on the garden health & vigor! The ones I use can be daisy chained together and only use like 24 watts each I just put them all around the perimeter of the plants in a growlab tent it's easy to just use heavy duty black zip ties that are light & heat resistant to secure them to the poles and across the sides it's really not that hard if you get the right ones. Check out the sunblaze and sunblaster T5 light strips I am pretty sure those are the two best ones out and you want the 6400/6500k light temp which is full spectrum with the nice 740 nm range spectral spike. :tiphat:

@sotf420 so you're using ho t5 in addition to the lumigrow? for some reason i thought you were flowering with just strictly the lumigrow.......funny, a friend that upgraded just gave me a 4' ho t5 fixture that holds 4 bulbs, a mix of red and blue are in right now, i was wondering what i might do with it, hmmmm.... =)

And in 5 years it will be the correct answer lol

There is such a thing as living in the NOW for people who can't wait 5 years. :good:

The best LED will be here in about 5 years.
I hate "what's the best" questions.

5 years from now, the "best" will be available in 10 years. It's the nature of the beast. The average iPhone has more computing power than Houston Control had when they placed man on the moon. 10 years from now, that iPhone will be a dinosaur.

I would get the Lumigrow lights

Wait, I did. They rock :rtfo:

See thread link below to see how the plants look :plant grow:

If you can DIY, you can definitely have exceptional LED lighting now. Exceptional meaning, has the capability to completely outperform smaller HID lights in horizontal micro scenarios. I don't know what more there is to wait for aside from price drops, unless you can't stand the thought of your technology being outdated soon. Lots of anecdotal evidence of 1+ gpw micro grows is out there, a lot of it not in English. It's the commercial scene that is sorely, sorely lacking.
