Incredible results.

This is a giant thread, and my computer is old and terrible, if you could go into some detail on your potting mix and feeding regimen when you find time it would be greatly appreciated.

dido, because i have a 250 im growing under and i would love results like that...

Ekz_Ray - soil mix posted above, i find when running so many different strains for the first time that it's best to have a very 'constant' soil mix that everything does ok in. only the guano amounts are tweaked to each strain.

Ojizzle - thanks

right , this weeks pics, taken in a bit of a hurry

CB2 at 9 weeks. the buds on this are getting pretty big, and the calyxes are showing some nice colour...

CB1 i think will get chopped on friday, it looks fairly ready and is popping out the odd male flower now in the buds. they look the sterile type but the trics are milky and i have a heavy schedule of harvesting over the next few weeks. it'll be good to get one out f the way this week

g0v! nice to see you mate, yeah the pistils are just insanely pretty, i made some more Cherry Bomb seeds with the two males i got. they wont be as wider gene pool as Mr G's batch but i had the pollen so i thought i should make a few. i would have liked to do some other crosses too but decided to just work with CB pollen as i was also using it to make seeds with the diesels and i didnt want any chance of contamination with anything else.

yourcorpse - yeah just a 250, they are great lights as long as you can keep all the buds between 6 and 12 " away. they can produce some pretty big nugs too. sacko seems to get some huge colas on his plants as bushes too, pretty sure he uses a 250.

PG - i need a bib myself too lol, its been a while since i tried a new type of weed and im gagging to toke on the diesels and the CB.

CB1 will come down tomorow.

edgey - thanks man, yeah the 250 serves me well :)

killerweed - thanks for stopping by

Frayme - thanks, your english is just fine :tiphat:
the strain is cherrybomb from Mr.Greengenes. he donated some seeds to the IC server fund a while back.

so i should get to toke on some CB1 tonite :dance013:. it's dried to a very cherry and skunky/shitty smell. i think the CB2 will come down later this week.

Awesome work VG, beautiful plants and great pictures. I was holding my breath for the harvest pics. I hope you tell us how they smoke :)

How do you decide when to harvest, do you look at the trichomes under a microscope, or do you just eyeball the pistils?

Also, do you find flower times to get longer as you increase the size of the container compared to a smaller, maybe a little more root-bound plant (say a 5 gal container vs a 2.5 gal container)?

All the best.

hey herb, thanks and will do - i need to ask you a few q's anyway :tiphat:

mugenbao - thanks for stopping by and the kind words

Hey D9 - i tend to look at the whole plant, pistils etc as well as the trics under a magnifier. i dont worry too much about getting loads of amber. if most are milky with a few amber thats good enough for me (and tests have shown that THC content is higer in milky trics than amber)
yes i think flowering times are increased a little when you do a big up-pot straight before flowering. a plant being rootbound will speed up the onset of flowering imo.

---

the CB1 harvest came in at almost exactly 2 oz which is pretty good for a thai style plant. nearly 1g/watt. the buds are voluminous but light in weight as i would have expected.
the smell is cherry pez and a skunky, shitty smell (this pheno smelt less cherry in growth and the skunky smell pretty much wins over untill you break the buds up.
high is lovely, a kind, happy buzz - sativa but not racey at all - potency is good. not as strong as some but plenty strong enough.
lookinh forward to trying CB2 in a few days....

other than honey and , molasses, is there any other liquid sugar that is helpful that you know of?? i have been using this stuff from espoma -plantone, tomato tone, and garden tone- all seem to be pretty good amendments, with some black mulch, turf builder or topsoil(i think it was some imported stuff from another state cause we dont have much red clay around these parts) and some whate retention soil mix all mixed together. just recently bought some humus and manure amended black soil, and some compost. i have been trying to find some of the things in your post, but no luck thus far. i can get all of the chemical ferts under the sun though, go figure?? also got some black topsoil with the perilite in it. i know its not how you operate, but how is it sounding so far? i want to stay as natural as possible, so i steer clear of the chemical ferts. the espoma cocktails are a all natural blend of feather meal, beneficials, earth worm castings and several other things all seem pretty natural to me, but im always open to advice. i will be checking back with you to see what you think...

Eks ray, you should check out the organics board - there are a few discussions about molasses etc there. i use it a little but not a great deal.

as for soil it sounds good, extra perlite will help drainage if you feel the soil is too heavy/water retentive.

right, the diesels were chopped yesterday, didnt get the chance to take any photos but they looked pretty similar to before - just a little more faded. looks like a heavy harvest.

the CB2 yeilded about 2oz the same as CB1. im loving the smoke on CB1 still and am yet to try CB2.

got some family issues going on and it is also school holidays now so i should be in a position to reveal the next round sometime in a couple of weeks. i;ll be back at some point with the harvest figures for the diesels

Cheers

hi all, just reporting back on the harvests. the ECSD yielded 65g and the original diesel 60g. tbh i thought it might be a little more than that but im still happy with it.

havent smoked any yet, but the ECSD seems to have a little lemon/citrus tang to the aroma that the original doesnt. i'll be back with details of the next run etc in the next week or so
