I took a pic just now before i go to bed.

So surprised to see these buds forming already. I did not even start flowering them until about March 5th or 6. This is rather amazing to me.

Also, being out of pot, it just makes me want to claw my eyes out so i can't be tempted to taste the premature goodness that i clearly see growing.

To Trim or not to Trim, is that really a question?

So many conversations have been born on that issue...trimming.

Well, i trimmed. I cut the lower branches, the bottom 3-4 nodes. And let me say, i am quite high - microwaving for the evil win.

I read quite a bit on the discussion on the issue of trimming and the branches i trimmed were literally small that would have to grow so much just to reach decent light like the rest of the bud sites are getting, so i went with the idea that those lower branches are a waste of the plants energy which could best be served focusing on the sites reaching adequate lighting and not having to grow another 8"(20cm) just to begin to maybe get good light, not considering the rest of the plant is still growing and covering all the while, right?

Also, this thing i did with this idea of "staggering their growth". I realize now that it was a bit of laziness, no, probably a lot of procrastination that led to a delay in the starting of the seeds, still with some not well thought out idea i had on putting taller plants low and shorter plants high, thus justifying a staggered germination cycyle, right? I was dead wrong to a point of what i would almost call stupid for not reading enough, but somethings only experience can correct. So...the younglings are getting squished out of the lights and there is nothing i can do about it. And 5 of them are so dwarfed and bent/contorted vying for the light that it makes me rather sad for them and upset that i wasted their life in such an unproductive way Not only that, but they just don't get to have the big life growth experience the plants that are getting to fully stretch out towards the light are having. Oh well. Grow and learn, i hope.

Question: At which point do they start to yellow in leaf because of nearing the end of the ripening cycle as opposed to yellowing because of a nute deficiency? I want to love them a lot less with the home brew ghetto tea i am doing for fear of loving them to death.

Thanks in advance.

Goodnight.

good mornin kirsten babe !!

good mornin kirsten babe !!

im now entering the thread of the most attractive woman on all of IC, a grower chick who's got a sexy style all her own, a fine ass grow plus an attitude that makes me wanna squeeze her!

ok you've got your nuclear buzz on babe...the microwave aint just for convenience but may be a survival tool...so a hot steamy fresh green buzz is in the house !!

you'll never regret a good trim on the bush darlin, approach it like art, shape it, style it, show it some flare and be as aggressive as you dare. more trim will result in a more tops and less bottoms overall, final yield difference, i dunno? but quality will increase with less fluff! harvest will be easier and more rewarding, less tedious and boring...

never underestimate procrastinating babe !! being too lazy to feed and water...ignoring the garden here and there, will give the plants a break from our (my) heavy handedness, and re-energize your senses when you are ready to go back in !! and when you've got multiple strains, especially from seed, some are gonna be broccoli, and others pine trees...running perpetual is a never ending juggling of plants, getting the proper size baby in a suitable hole in the garden, stepping her up to the graduation podium and so forth...

when you feel the buds have stopped swelling, begin to introduce them to plain tap water, without PHing if you like... rinsing out the medium and locking out nutrients. leaves turn yellow or purple even, chunks will ripen, the frost thickens and your time spent gawking lengthens dramatically.

with peace babe, stay fresh kirsten !!

Nice looking plants, you did a really good job putting everything together. I am totally looking forward to how they all turn out!!!!

OMG, the lessons learned - when will they stop?? Hopefully never because learning is rather HOT and SEXY, why? Brains are more yummy than bodies. Sapiosexuality for the win - Google it.

OK. Lesson Learned:

- Plants shoot up like crazy when flowering. I know i have already known that, but i forgot and that goes to a lesson on planning and how important it is to do so early, and often so that you can remember the small things that make big difference.

Today is March 24th. I started flowering on March 5th. So, they look pretty incredible to me in 19 days of growth. Honestly, i am wondering if was just so stoned out on Cheeses that week that i don't remmeber the day flowering started because they really look so much farther along than 19 days.

I only wish this had been more optimal because now next time around I will still be in the dark...I won't be sure of when to flower... 3-4 weeks will come and I will say "looks to small" and wait, and then when i say "looks just right" - it will be too late and they will shoot up 50% in height giving me internodal lengths that make Peter North look short. O.O:wave:

I need to do more time and more time reading and reading.

Also, next round: REAL TEAS, not my ghetto witches brew.

I always give my plants atleast 1 bend in their life, they always respond well. The release of auxins will be good for your plants and they will thank you for it.

Keep some notes, where I always fall short is rememering to do the stupid little things that make huge differences. Real teas will make your plants explode with happiness.

wow vert looks hard.

Funny that you say that...

I look at grows like yours, scroggers, or VerdantGreene's and i am just lost. I have no idea where to start with LST, or Scrogging, where to tie them down, how to tie them down, how many to put in the space, and more importantly - how i would even handle 30-40 plants in such a style. Makes me think of playing Twister while trying to tend to them - contortionist work.

I have a great deal of respect for those growing styles. They take a very personal approach and require a lot of personal care, and tender handling it looks like to me. And if i were in there that much with them i can guarantee you i would be "loving them too much", most likely to death.

As it stands now. I am in my room about every 15-30mins when lights are on. I always go in, check the temp, adjust the intake if needed, stash some big fan leaves under branches to expose bud sites, and then i check and check and check again for Sherm the Herm to flash his ball sacks. And for some reason, i always pinch the soil and rub it in my hand and smell it for freshness. Why? I don't know..Makes me feel like Maximus Decidus Meridius, reaching down and scooping up the earth from the field i am about to do battle on...GLORIOUS CANNABIS BATTLE.

Great success can happen just by taking the very tip of the plant and bending it right down to the edge of the pot of the bag. This tricks the other branches in to thinking they might have a chance at being dominant and they will all grow up to the same level as the main tip. from what I notice this will also promote atleast one other branch will grow thick and fat like the main stem. I keep a small tent around just so I can have a few plants to heavy LST, I find tying the plants to be kind of relaxing, im trying find ways of adapting this hobby to my vertical style. Im having a hard time giving these things up as I expand my grow.

The trick is to get all of the bending and molesting done before the stems become too stiff.

Just in case you haven't seen this.
If you're using smart pots you might consider the velcro tape sold in the garden section of your local home improvement.
Make a loop around the branch, bend the branch a little at first and stick the other end to the pot.
Works great!
