What's new

Am I being schooled by a Miracle Gro Grower?

i dont use mg nutes, i have a few bottles of flora series by Gh and i use them, or whatever sample i can get free from friends or grow stores, flora nova bloom is also really good. sorry if that doesnt help you, If u have to use what u have , just use the one with the lowest Nitrogen as high N ive heard inhibits budd mass in flower. any bloom nute will work, try home depot or lowes, shultz, peters, etc. shouldnt be more then 5 bucks, or just go spend 5 bucks at a grow store n ask for a bloom nute sample, done. im all about k.i.s.s method, i dont buy nutes if i dont have to.

What's on the underside of the damaged leaves? Almost looks like insect damage, i've seen spidermites cause similar symptoms before. If so i'd say the Dumpster strain is simply more resistant to the bugs than the other cuts.

Dude that's a sample picture of calcium deficiency from the infirmary forum here, not an actual picture of his plant.

Yep i knew that before posting...? I've experienced spider mite damage that looked exactly like the leaf in the picture, one look underneath and you can see the little b/stards. Have there been any updates?

MG used here.
My formula is:
50% MG organic and 50% coco.
Cut with 30% perlite
add appropriate lime
when I flip to 12/12 I top dress with Espoma flower tone and top dress again 4 weeks later.
Occasionally I'll give my plants a shot of seaweed or molasses as well to keep the microherd happy.
Other than that it's usually straight water that has been sitting at least 24 hours all the way through.
(the secret to growing is not what soil/nutes you use, BUT, knowing how to read your plants and make the necessary adjustments when needed)

My babies look just fine with what I use:

Also if your going to use MG don't use the green bag. The nutes are chemical based in little balls. (they look like miniature bath beads) You can't control when they dissolve. Which means at times your plant may not get enough/proper nutes, and other times they'll get too much.
Go with the Organic stuff or better yet if your area has it get Farfards or Espoma brands. Just as cheap and way better.

i totally disagree, reg mg works fantastic, try it before u bash it, youll be amazed how good it works with NOTHING added to it, no perlite, no lime, just tap water. majority of complaints are from orgainc mircacle grow, its supposed to be utter shit.

I've used the regular and don't care for it. I find the organic better. But that's my take on it. Some have success with it, others don't.
Good day

It is in your soil. Build a better one next time. Follow the link in my sig......Organics for Beginners. The answer to all of your questions and problems lie there.

^^^^^ I agree. A good organic soil can handle its self as far as pH is concerned. I don't pH my water at all anymore. And my water run high in pH, and I know my nutrients drop the pH to 6 or less. I amend my soil.
Feed the soil, the soil feeds the plant.

there are some new pics in my album with straight green bag.

since i have switched to organic. i think it looks better even tho it has no perlite in it at all. so i put a handfull in a 1 gal pot. i also have been putting a cup of worm castings and one cup of 8yr old dairy compost. some dynomite dolomite, that leaves about 5 cups of mg. so far i dont see much diff, but my organic crop is a ways off for now.

i heard the only thing about the green bag is chem. ferts which theoretically cause cancer if you smoke like bob marley. i have a very small amt of perlite in it. it is similar to the amount of perlite in the green bag mg, or a tad more. my plants are diggin it. but since i changed strains at the same time i switched to mg, this isnt exactly any kind of blind experiment i am trying out. but the combination so far is really killer compared to what i had before. i also have been lolly popping them too. so all together there are three different things that could be the magic factor, or some combination thereof. but i think each one has about equal factors.

I've heard to combat the Flies in the soil is to just add about 1 inch of perlite of top of the soil..works wonders!

cool avatar bud sticker.

i have been throwing in old dirt with perlite in on top of the rest of the dirt, so that the crack that develops around the edge of the pot can be easier to move around with my finger. maybe that has helped the "no Fly Zone", ... in my friends house.
i was gonna say here is a link to the pic in my photo album cause i couldnt find my photo album. just my old gallary crap pics of three years of sick plants. but

here is a pic:
picture.php

oh yeah, i have to say that i have no flies. yet anyway. and i am about a month to 6 wks into using the organic. i havent even had spider mites since i stopped taking my shoes into the grow room. at my friends house. every picture in my album is at somebody elses house.

oh yeah, as far as other ferts i have been dosing with sugar daddy, budswel, and now biobizz bloom, and in grow i use alaska fish shit and PBP veg. tapering off for now on the pressed seaweed juice. i have to adjust the ph so much when i use that stuff. and the other stuff has it anyway and doesnt need adjustment with my water at @7.

All good stuff. When I get up and running I'm doing a side-by-side with RO water and advanced nutes and some MG with plain water.

those brown spots is a fungus causing what is called brown spot disease. google it....green clean should take care of it. it's not a p.h. issue...i thought it was for years.....nope...it's a fungus! hope this info helps.

my plants are coming off in the organic now. i dont see any difference btwn the organic and the regular. i did put the usual into my half gallon pots now, about 5 handfulls of mg, 1 perlite, 1 ewc, 1 compost. this new strain of Papaya is just rockin it. lollypopped with the same ferts as i mentioned above, which may or may NOT be necessary. leaning more to the NOT. but i have them so i use them. only problem is i think a Mag deficiency but not as bad now that i have kept the ph up more.

mg is uptaken at low ph not high (5.0-5.5 in hydro)... that might help...

hmm now that i look at it, i say that because the other uptake point is too high to run at...

how high did you take it?
