Question about my finished product...with pics

So I harvest my second plant, (first was an autoflower and was pretty good) When I cut it down to dry it looked nice. The trichomes had a mixture of clear and cloudy heads. But as I dryed it(7 days for the stems to snap off) and cured it(air tight jars, opened 2-3xs a day for 20 min for 3 days) Its still smelled good but the bud was a little brittle and after i tried it the potency was low. Any clue what i couldve done....did i cut it too early?

It was sour Diesel...i harvested at day 64 of flowering.
Avg rm temp was 70-80
avg humidity was 16-23% (I know a little low but its very challenging keeping it up in this room.

Here are some pics...

ok thats what i was thinking. But why would my buds be light, meaning not dense, kind of fluffy, even with the auto and i let that stay beyond its suggested length in flower.

heat, and you want an indica for denseness

edit, also i think you dried them out to much, then tried to cure. if your humidity is that low, its pretty crazy it took that long for stems to snap. usually you want to cure before they snap. the best thing is the small humidity sensor that you put in the jars with the buds. there is an awesome thread called "perfect cure" or something. once they get too dry, there is no saving them. you can always try and up their humidity with fresh leaves or something, but its never the same

ok. thanks

Are the suggested flowering dates that are given when you get the seed fairly accurate? OR are they typically off? IT did say 75-85 days for sour d

My set up is 1 400W HID light, plants in ff oc soil with perlite. Advanced nutrients as the nute supplier given weekly. 12/12 light.

How old is your bulb? It might be time for a new one, also your buds probly would have been a lot heavier and denser had you given them another 25 days or so, you'd be amazed at how much weight is added in the last few weeks. I've had plants that at day 60 were unimpressive but by day 77 were killer, huge and fat, with large stacked caylx's.

breeder was world of seeds...

Im pretty sure then it was that i harvested too soon.

If they get too dry do they lose potency?

If it was world of seeds then it isn't real sour diesel so could just be crappy genetics. Also if it was your first grow I wouldnt sweat it too much. Alot of homegrown isnt nearly as dense as dealer weed because it hasnt been squished or beaten up during transport and it isnt hydro which would give much denser buds.

world of seeds is just fine bro. the poster above that said its probably not real sour diesel is mostly right. but really, how many strains nowadays are REAL anything? there are some that may be, but there are alot of others that arent.

were they cheap or something? seems like it wouldn't be hard to go through one of the more well known, reputable seedbanks, i like the seedboutique.com, they seem to have the fastest shipping to the us...do some searches and find exactly what you want out of your weed, there are so many strains out there, and they are all a little different. if you want to give the strain another go maybe try another breaders version...lots of info on here about who's version is best and why i'm sure. still its a great first attempt, but if you want to avoid a buncha hay smelling "beasters" let it go till you are sure it's done(i like a lot of amber!) and then let it go a few more days for good measure, just like with most fruits and veggies, the more ripe it is the stronger it will smell and taste...think about eating a grean banana compared to a bright yellow one...thats basically the difference between 56 days and 70-80 days when it comes to these types of strains.

I grow bubba kush in soil and I get rock hard buds and thick tric covered. Went 65 days on 1 and 75 days on the other one and they where both killer smoke. Here's a pic of them. for some reason it won't let me download my pics. just go to my albums and you'll see.

drying till the stem snaps is over drying, which effects the potency and flavor/taste. although i agree the more pertinent issues was early harvesting, theres a thread here called ''perfect cure''. will take your finished product to the next level.

after reading it, i literally feel its an art to curing. i have some WR that smells like skittles, because i was able to preserve the smell and quantify it during drying.

most would disagree, but the most accurate way to judge maturity isnt by trichromes, rather, pistals. when 70-90% of the have died and colored, time to engage the scissors ;)

wow thanks for all the replies. I checked out the thread called "the perfect cure" Still going through all the responses but got alot of info.
