Hi everyone,

I just bought some blackstrap molasses after hearing so many positive things about it.. So how much should i be using per gallon of water? And also how regularly should i add this to the water? Every watering or every other watering?

And also what week of flower should i start using.. Around week 5??

Please can i only get advice here from people that actually use this product regularly no noob advice wanted thanks!

I feel a teaspoon per gallon is too much. I put a couple drops per gallon, to neutralize chlorine and chloramine. I let that sit a good ten minutes.

every watering.

I use 1 tbs per gallon, just about every watering - starting about 2 weeks into flower w/ organic amended soil. No problems so far, girls seem to like it. Seems to improve on the aromas and flavors of the bud, while delivering some valuable micro-nutrients. Just my :2cents:

Used it for years @1teaspoon/gal
FWIW...You can do about the same thing flusing with BS as you can with Clearex.
I know that the general consensus is that BS flushing sweetens the buds, but I have found that too much of it...say super doses trying to sweeten it up at the end, will increase the nasty due to a late overload of Mg.

Re: How much Blackstrap Molasses to use?

I have used 1tbs per gallon and 5ml per gallon...I don't see any harm in the tbs/gallon but I also don't see any extra improvement with it either. So now I just use 5ml which is about 1tsp I think...every watering unless I get lazy. I also let it bubble ahead of time. But I used it just mixing it and going with no apparent ill effects, I bubble more because I am lazy and it mixes it well and in my mind puts oxygen in the water.

this is just one companies stats.. they all differ

just because something's popular, doesn't mean it's good...

Use it in veg and flower, works fantastic one teaspoon per gallon! :good:

i use it every watering at a rate of 1tsp-1tblspn per gallon every watering from veg to a few days before chop when i stop watering. i dont really measure it, just an estimate. i also foliar feed with same mixture 3-5 times a day during lights on(heat issues), even during flowering, but less towards the end. i don't grow dense indicas though, only sats and sat dom hybrids. i love to use it, and i believe it has helped me through a couple of micro nutrient deficiencies to boot. the bugs in the soil love it. i use it to feed the bugs, and to give some trace amounts of nutrients through foliar feeding with it. i will never stop using it unless it becomes unavailable. the amount you use isn't that critical, and 1tsp/gallon is in no way too much. 1tablespoon isn't too much, but more than that isn't necessary at all. good luck, and i think you will like using it. to test how it affects your buds, grow 2 clones side by side one with it and one without. you can decide for yourself then.

What's an easy way to measure the molasses without a sticky mess? I was sticking a teaspoon in the jar and drizzling all over

LOL Cravenmore i just had that exact same situation happen to me. I stuck a tablespoon in the molasses container and this stuff is soooooo sticky and syrupy alot of it stuck to the spoon. I just put the spoon into the bucket where the mixing was going on and stir it for a while until all the molasses dissolves.

@ Habeeb, Yeah for sure man every companies stats will differ, the one in particular im using is Red Seal Blackstrap.. a local product i found.. actually was the only choice in my local supermarket.. I have no idea how good this is compared to any other molasses but hopefully it will do good things for the girls!

Thanks Badger for the link to the molasses thread! I will check this out later tonight for sure..

So the consensus seems to be either 1 teaspoon or 1 tablespoon per gallon.. I jumped in the deep end and applied 1 tablespoon per gallon just about 1 hour ago.

Thanks to all the senior peeps for stopping by to drop some knowledge these ways!

Peace
Chronito:thank you:

Craven, I use measuring spoons. Get a set in the kitchen section at a department store. Its slow but doesn't need to be messy/sticky, agitate the measuring spoon in the water so you rinse off the sludge that wants to stick on there.

A shot glass is about 5ish tsp I think. Least that's what the measurement says. One shot glass roughly per 5 gallons = 1tsp per gal.
